Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 807: One Glass to the Soul
"What dog?" Lucian Quinn’s voice drifted over softly.
Flora Lane, who was having a lively chat, froze for a moment. Turning her head, she saw Lucian Quinn and immediately offered a guilty smile, waving quickly for him to come sit. "Come over and have some barbecue, it’s freshly grilled!"
Lucian Quinn pulled out a chair and sat next to Flora Lane, persistently asking the previous question, "You were talking about what kind of dog?"
Flora Lane laughed awkwardly, trying to brush it off, "What dog? We were talking about little milk cakes, like the sour plum cakes that Phoebe was eating. Do you want to try some?"
Lucian Quinn looked at Flora Lane skeptically but didn’t press further. Instead, he asked, "Are you cold? I can get you a coat from the car."
Flora Lane shook her head, "Not cold, this outfit is fleece-lined."
Phoebe King couldn’t help but interrupt, "Hey Mor, can you do something about your brother? Look at how he’s behaving, such a disgrace."
Lucian Quinn glanced over at Morgan Quinn’s direction and said plainly, "If it were possible, I would’ve taken care of it already."
Phoebe King: "Are you two really from the same parents?"
Lucian Quinn earnestly replied, "I’ve questioned that myself."
Everyone was left speechless.
At that moment, after settling a few girls, Morgan Quinn walked over to them and cheerfully asked, "You’re not drinking? I brought some wine, want to try some?"
Phoebe King rolled her eyes and replied sharply, "What kind of good wine can you possibly bring? Energy wine?"
Morgan Quinn grinned slyly, "Hehe, what you said is actually true."
Audrey Sutton curiously inquired, "What kind of energy wine?"
Thinking about the reason for her first encounter with Stephen Sutton, Phoebe King felt it was inappropriate to delve into it further, so she deflected and said to Audrey Sutton, "It’s like an energy drink, you won’t get sleepy after drinking it and you’ll feel super energetic."
Audrey Sutton muttered in belief, "Is there really such wine? I don’t think my family has ever produced it."
Morgan Quinn: "Then little sister-in-law, do you want to try? One sip and you’re hooked, guaranteed..."
"Get lost." Morgan Quinn didn’t finish his sentence when someone, having walked over without him noticing, unceremoniously shoved him aside.
"Hehe, Master Shane, do you want a glass?"
Shane Warner: "I think the company has been quite busy recently, maybe you two should head back."
"Not drinking then, who’s afraid of who!" Morgan Quinn muttered and promptly turned to leave, returning to his group of women.
Audrey Sutton turned to ask Shane Warner, standing beside her, "What is energy wine? Have you tried it?"
Shane Warner gave her a look, "Eat your kebab."
Audrey Sutton shook her head, "I don’t want to eat anymore. I was grilling earlier, got tired of the smoke, and now I’m craving juice."
Shane Warner: "There’s hot soup at the food truck, want me to get you a bowl?"
Audrey Sutton smiled and nodded, "Thank you, honey."
Shane Warner: "Keep your coat on."
Audrey Sutton adjusted the coat draped over her shoulders, then put her arms through the sleeves.
Norman Sutton walked over with a bucket of crabs and asked, "How do you guys want to eat these crabs?"
Barry Barrett: "Just wash them and steam them. That way, everyone can enjoy the light flavor."
Norman Sutton glanced at Lana Holloway, who was hugging her knees sitting on a chair, looking at her phone as if she were chatting with someone.
Could it be Lance Quincy?
Norman Sutton, holding the bucket, acted casually as he circled behind Lana Holloway, quickly glancing at her phone screen as if afraid she would notice. After a quick peek, he headed straight to the food truck with the bucket of crabs.
He didn’t catch the contact’s name clearly, nor the chat content, but vaguely saw a girl’s profile picture, which made Norman sigh slightly in relief.
Still, he didn’t know if Lana had been in touch with Lance recently or if she had feelings for him.
That morning, Lana seemed happy playing with Barry Barrett in the river, more lively than usual.
But by the afternoon, she stood by the shore, barely saying a word.
The difference in attitude was too clear.
After all, he was the one who had proposed to her, and yet she never looked at him directly.
Could it be because she saw him being humble, so she deliberately gave him the cold shoulder?
The more Norman thought about it, the more uncomfortable he felt, losing interest in dealing with the crabs. He handed the bucket to the food truck’s chef and immediately turned back.
Upon returning, he realized the scene was much livelier than before, with noticeably more people, and the additional ones seemed to be all men.
They were the guys who had played badminton with Seraphina Vaughn that afternoon.
After spending the afternoon with them, Seraphina felt more familiar with the handsome guys, and one was even a schoolmate. To make things lively, she invited them over for some barbecue.
The moms here had no thoughts about these handsome guys, but the dads didn’t think the same. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Lucian Quinn, while saying nothing, sat closely next to Flora Lane ever since the young men arrived, as if afraid someone would try to hit on her.
Shane Warner used Anna as an excuse to take Audrey Sutton away.
Faye Xavier’s group of ladies joined in as well, naturally merging the two tables and turning it into an impromptu social party.
Shane Warner didn’t want Audrey to get involved, and she similarly didn’t want him involved, so they tacitly agreed to spend time with their son.
Seraphina suggested playing truth or dare, and anyone unable to answer a question or complete a dare would have to drink as a forfeit.
Flora Lane was enthusiastically thinking of joining in, but as soon as Seraphina finished her suggestion, Lucian Quinn whispered in her ear, "Let them play, let’s go over there. Someone’s smoking here, and it’s not good for you to inhale too much smoke."
This reason left Flora with no way to refuse. Although she wanted to join the fun, considering that Lucian Quinn always accommodated her, she felt she should consider his feelings occasionally.
Lucian Quinn made his request softly, and Flora would follow obediently, knowing that he would not forcefully oppose her if she insisted on joining, although he might feel a little upset without showing it.
Usually, when Lucian Quinn gently voiced his disapproval like this, Flora Lane would be compliant.
As Norman Sutton approached, he saw a tall man standing by Lana Holloway’s chair, leaning his hand on the chair back, his head lowered as he spoke to her.
From Norman’s perspective, he couldn’t see Lana’s expression but only noticed her tilting her head up to talk to the man, giving off a close, intimate air.
Yet they had just met!
