Chapter 73 The Rocky Horror Show

"What movie are we going to watch?" After everyone finished eating pizza, they came to a late-night movie theater nearby.

"I heard you did a movie in Los Angeles, what was it called?" Antonia asked.

"You're well-informed. It's called Rock and Roll High School, but the box office isn't good, so it can't be released in New York."

"Why don't you watch Apocalypse Now, directed by Coppola, they won the Grand Prix at the French Cannes Film Festival."

Remembering the news he saw on TV a few days ago, Ronald also wanted to watch the full version without the editing interface again.

"Four Books of Apocalypse Now", Gene got a higher salary for the protagonist and shouted to invite everyone.

"If you don't have this, look at the schedule." The conductor pointed to the schedule on the wall.

It looks like Apocalypse Now hasn't been released in the US yet.

   Ronald looked at the schedule.

"Alien" - a sci-fi horror film, this one is suitable for both men and women to watch together.

"It's been an hour since the last show." The conductor pointed to the time again.

This kind of commercial film usually starts at 6 o'clock in the afternoon after get off work and before 9 o'clock in the evening, which is convenient for mainstream moviegoers. If it's too late, everyone will go home to sleep.

   "What other movie then?"

"There are adult X-rated movies over there" The conductor is a veteran, seeing that the two men and two women are on a two-on-two date, and recommends an X-rated movie. It's so late anyway, and inspectors aren't going to work overtime to catch teens watching X-rated movies.

Gene didn't want to look, "Anything else?"

"Then there is only this old movie, the Rocky Horror Show. Today is their club's special show. If you haven't seen it, I still recommend it."

"Is there a club in a movie?" Ronald was a little confused.

"Yeah, they're all crazy and come to the midnight show a lot. It'll be fun to watch with them for the first time."

"Oh yes? Then let's watch this too." Antonia seemed to have heard of this movie.

"Four tickets." Gene took out the money and paid for it first.

"This is a newspaper for you." The conductor handed out four more expired newspapers along with the ticket.

The four of them looked at each other and shook their heads, "What's this for?" Ronald asked.

"You'll know when you go in."

"Welcome new friends to our Rocky Horror Show Movie Club!" A middle-aged man with a microphone welcomed the four into the screening room. The audience below began to applaud neatly, "Welcome!"

This club has a great atmosphere.

"Hi, hello, hello", Gene was very happy, high-fives with everyone along the way, and found four connected positions to sit down.

Ronald swept left and right, and many viewers wore gothic black eye makeup, and some men dressed as girls. It was a wonderful experience.

After the opening of the movie, a man and a woman were reversing their car on a rainy night, and suddenly the car seemed to hit something.

The audience in the front row of Ronald suddenly fell backwards collectively. Match the car crash on screen.

"Oops", the protagonist on the screen slapped the seat.

The audience also hit the seats at the same time, making a neat "pop".

"I should have the spare tire fixed."

   The audience collectively shouted "Asshole".

Spoiler: This guy is a bad guy.

How come you watch the movie and also bring your own voice over? Ronald looked around strangely.

Gene and Lucy had a great time, shouting with the club members.

The two main characters on the screen got out of the car and it started to rain.

The audience raised the newspaper in their hands and covered the top of their heads.

Um? There was literally water falling on the face. Ronald has a confused expression on his face, what advanced technology is this, and the cinema can still cooperate with the plot to rain?

Antonia also held up the newspaper, hit Ronald to remind him, and helped him hold up the newspaper.

It turned out that some people fired water guns in the aisles on both sides, and some spectators brought their own and took them out to flood the sky.

The two protagonists on the screen entered an old castle, and a host who looked like a vampire came out to receive them.

"Where's your neck?" the audience shouted.

Ronald looked, really, the actor has no neck.

He opened a coffin and used a duster to clean the cobwebs from the bones inside.

"It turned out to be a horror movie," Ronald thought to himself.

Suddenly he started to sing loudly, and he sang a lousy old-fashioned pop song.

   "Is it a musical?"

"One, two, three, four" the audience began to chorus.

The host began to walk up to the stage in front of the screen, and everyone was welcome to come and sing together.

Soon more than a dozen men and women wearing gothic eye makeup and costumes from the play came to the front desk, lined up in a row to sing, and the audience below also raised their hands, shaking left and right to cooperate.

In the movie, a man in a suit and leather shoes appeared again to teach everyone to dance, "First move your left foot, then jump to your right foot."

The men and women on the stage began to dance to the music.

"Yo, here we are." Gene took Lucy onto the stage and danced with them.

Hahaha, the audience laughed and laughed,

"Let's go too", Antonia pulled Ronald up and went on stage.

Ronald followed the rhythm, learned the movements of the club's cosplayers, and did some silly dance moves. For a while, he didn't know why, but the whole person became happy.

"Hahahaha", the dance was over, Ronald and everyone laughed together.

"It turned out to be an exploitative film."

Hey, Ronald seemed to have remembered something important, and was desperately trying to catch this hint of inspiration.

Antonia dragged him off stage again and returned to his original seat.

"Today is a big day for our Rocky Horror Movie Club members, Larry and Holly, who are in theaters for the 150th time today—"

The host pointed the microphone towards the audience

   "Lo-ki-horror-show..."

There are also members who took out two small cakes with candles with the words 150 inserted on them, which were blown out by the two members.

"Can you watch the same movie 150 times? Antonia?" Ronald felt a little incredible when he heard the 150 viewing records.

"No way, but they don't count as watching a movie, they are purely entertaining themselves."

"150 times is a big number, and it'll take 3 years to see it once a week. Don't they have anywhere else to go?"

"Yes, there are certain neighborhoods in New York where teens have nowhere to go at night. If they tell their parents to go to a bar, the parents should be worried. But going to the cinema with a bunch of old friends to see a bad movie can be reassuring."

"Yeah, they are all teenagers." Ronald looked around again, and under the gothic black eyeshadow, there were actually boys and girls in their teens and twenties.

After the movie ended, Ronald specifically went to the president of the Rocky Horror Show Club, and the host had a chat. Since the film was released in 1975, it has been continuously played at midnight.

This film has a weird style and did not perform well in the first round, but the mixed style and a lot of memes have attracted young audiences in New York, and many theaters continued to show at midnight. This, in turn, led to the trend of watching midnight movies, so it continued to be shown until 1979.

"But we may not be able to watch it here next year." In the end, the club president sighed, "The high school students who grew up with this movie have all graduated this year, and the new generation of young people have their favorite movies again.

The box office began to fall, and the movie theater said that it wanted to replace the Rocky Horror Show with a new movie. We fans, we could only keep one or two movie theaters. "

That hint of inspiration seemed to be right in front of him, and Ronald stood there, trying hard to catch her.

"Ronald, what are you thinking about? Are you thinking about the script again?" Lucy looked at Ronald and asked with admiration.

Inspiration seems to fly away again.

   But the script?

I was dragged onto the stage by Antonia to sing and dance just now. The mood that was a little low at first became very happy. This seems to be written into the plot of the Jewish student Doris. Isn't she lacking a motivation to get rid of her mother who is too much in charge, and bravely sing on stage?

"Yes, you gave me a good inspiration, Lucy, thank you." Ronald thanked Lucy, took out a small notebook and began to jot down his thoughts.

"Really, I'm glad to help you, Ronnie, can I call you Ronnie?"

"You pull it, Lucy", Jean came up from behind and pulled her away, "Antonia is right, you are indeed not Ronald's type."

"Antonia, what are you looking at?" Ronald couldn't help but walk over and ask, watching the Italian girl holding Jean's Polaroid camera and laughing back and forth at the smaller X-rated ticket window.

"Look at this..." Antonia pointed to a poster, "Hahahaha, I'm dying of laughter."

In front of you is a small poster titled "Hot Lunch"

Turns out someone actually made an adult movie with the black slang term for hot lunch.

"Pfft..." Ronald couldn't help but squirt.

"Look at the director's column...hahaha." Antonia couldn't straighten her back with laughter, grabbing Ronald's arm to keep her balance.

"AL Parker...hahahaha", Ronald couldn't help spraying again.

This is directed by Alan Parker. Maybe the "Hot Lunch" project was reported in the media, and an adult film producer found a business opportunity and quickly made a movie to gain popularity?

   Ronald shook his head.

"Take me one too, I'll keep it." Ronald asked Antonia to take a snapshot of the poster for him.

I don't know how to calculate this, Ronald intends to report to the producer Da Silva.

"You don't tell them, it will cause more trouble" Ronald pointed to Gene and Lucy.

"I understand."

"Hey, what are you two laughing at? Are you laughing so happily?" Gene finally noticed that the two were laughing and ran over from a distance.

"It's nothing, we are laughing at those people just now, and we are doing the movie under the stage."

Everyone walked out of the theater, ready to go home.

"Where do you live, Antonia? I'll take you."

"Little Italy, my house is right next to me. No need to send it." Antonia declined.

"Lucy and I take the subway. The lines in Harlem are open 24 hours a day. Your car is not safe."

"Well, that's it. I'm very happy today, thank you." Ronald said goodbye to everyone on the spot.

"What was that inspiration just now?" Ronald thought as he drove, "Midnight show, teens, long-term screening."

"Squeak..." Ronald slammed on the brakes, aren't teenagers the target audience for "High School of Rock"? Midnight shows can be long-running screenings, attracting teens in New York. And it just so happens that the movie theaters in New York want to show a new movie...
