Multiple Personalities-Chapter 427: Radiance
Xu An also swung his spear, thrusting it toward the monster. But his attack was likewise easily deflected by the monster. The monster kicked Xu An, who couldn't dodge in time and was struck in the chest. He flew through the air, crashing heavily to the ground, spitting out a mouthful of blood.
"Xu An!" Lin Yu shouted in terror, wanting to rush over to save Xu An, but the monster blocked his way.
The monster attacked Lin Yu again, its arm like a massive hammer, smashing down toward Lin Yu. Lin Yu quickly retreated, simultaneously forming a sealing sign with his hands, and a beam of magic shot from his hands, striking the monster. The monster shuddered slightly upon being hit by the magic, but soon recovered.
"Its magic resistance is also very strong!" Lin Yu's heart was filled with despair. He felt his power was so insignificant before this monster, like an ant facing an elephant.
Shen Jingqi looked at the injured Xu An and the beleaguered Lin Yu, feeling extremely anxious inside. He knew they must unite to have a chance to defeat this monster. He carefully observed the monster's movements, trying to find its weaknesses.
"Lin Yu, keep using your magic to distract it! Xu An, look for an opportunity to attack its legs, make it lose balance! I'll seize the chance to strike it!" Shen Jingqi shouted loudly, his voice filled with determination and resolve.
Lin Yu and Xu An nodded, knowing this was their last chance. Lin Yu once again formed sealing signs with his hands, beams of magic constantly firing at the monster, drawing its attention. Xu An, enduring the pain, gripped his spear tightly, searching for an opportunity to attack.
The monster, enraged by Lin Yu's magic, went madly attacking Lin Yu, completely ignoring Xu An. Xu An seized the moment, dashed forward, his spear like a dragon, stabbing the monster's leg. The monster stumbled in pain, swaying slightly.
At this moment, Shen Jingqi seized the opportunity, charging toward the monster like an arrow leaving the string. His sword raised high, gleaming with dazzling light. When the monster closed its eyes again, he timed his strike and stabbed the monster.
"Pfft," the sword pierced into the monster. The monster let out a wretched scream, its body shaking violently. It swung its arms wildly, smashing everything around as if trying to destroy everything.
Shen Jingqi took the opportunity to pull out his sword, the blade shimmering with cold light in the dim light, he staggered back several steps. Xu An and Lin Yu reacted quickly, rushing to his side, the three standing back to back, warily watching the terrifying monster before them.
The monster was massive, covered in black scales, exuding a nauseating stench of decay. Its eyes burned like red flames, revealing endless ferocity and madness. At this moment, it thrashed about wildly, seemingly enduring immense pain.
Shen Jingqi gripped the sword tightly, his palms already sweaty. His eyes locked on the monster, he said in a low voice, "Be careful, this monster won't fall so easily." Xu An, breathing heavily, nodded, gripping his weapon tighter. Lin Yu swallowed, though his eyes held a trace of fear, there was more determination.
The monster struggled for a while, its massive body colliding with the ground around it, making a dull thud with each impact, causing the ground to tremble slightly as if an earthquake was imminent. Suddenly, the monster let out a deafening roar, the sound like a sharp blade, piercing the three's eardrums. Then it slowly fell, making a dull thud like a giant boulder falling into an abyss.
The ground's shaking gradually ceased, and the black smoke in the cracks slowly dissipated. The surroundings fell into a deathly silence, only the rapid breathing of the three echoed in the air. After a long while, Lin Yu broke the silence first, "Is it… dead?" Shen Jingqi didn't answer immediately, cautiously watching the monster, he said slowly, "Not sure, but we can't relax our guard."
The three sighed in relief, collapsing to the ground. Their bodies were covered in wounds, their clothes stained with blood, as if they crawled out from a sea of blood. Lin Yu weakly said, "We… we did it." A tired but relieved smile appeared on his face, a smile tinged with the happiness of surviving a disaster.
Shen Jingqi nodded, his eyes revealing determination and anticipation. "But we can't stay here too long, ahead lies that mysterious mountain waiting for us," he said. "Perhaps that mysterious power is there, we must hurry." Xu An frowned, saying, "But in our current state, can we continue?" Shen Jingqi looked at him, seriously saying, "We must persevere, for our kingdom, for those still waiting for us to save them."
They briefly treated their wounds, bandaging them with strips of cloth and herbal remedies they carried. Every touch on their wounds made them wince, but they gritted their teeth, not uttering a sound. After tending to their wounds, they stood up, supporting each other, continuing toward the mysterious mountain. Hope filled their hearts; though unsure of what dangers lay ahead, they believed that as long as they were united, they could certainly obtain that mysterious power to protect their kingdom.
As they approached the mountain, the surrounding mist thickened, as if entering a dreamlike world. The mist swirled, entangling around them, making it hard to discern directions. They faintly saw some strange lights flickering on the mountain, the lights like stars, attracting them to keep moving forward.
"Those lights… could they be the power we're looking for?" Lin Yu said excitedly, his eyes filled with anticipation, as if already seeing the dawn of victory. Shen Jingqi didn't speak, in his heart the same question lingered. But he knew, until they truly reached the mountain, everything was uncertain. They could only cautiously move forward, always prepared to face any potential dangers.
Suddenly, a deep rumbling came from ahead, the sound like distant thunder, growing closer. Their hearts tightened, unsure of what danger awaited them. Shen Jingqi stopped, raising his hand to signal everyone to halt. He listened intently, trying to determine the source and direction of the sound. "This sound… doesn't seem like ordinary beasts," he said in a low voice.
Xu An looked around nervously, saying, "Could it be that the monster isn't dead and has caught up with us?" Lin Yu's face turned pale, trembling, "No way, that monster clearly fell down." Shen Jingqi took a deep breath, saying, "No matter what it is, we must be prepared."
