Multiple Personalities-Chapter 448: Return to School
Li Baiyu shook her head, forcing a weak smile on her pale face, "I'm fine, just a bit tired. We've finally saved this world." Her eyes were filled with joy and pride, their radiance like the brightest stars in the night sky, illuminating the slightly dim cave around them. Shen Jingqi looked at her, full of admiration; in that thrilling battle just now, she had unleashed an astonishing power.
At that moment, the cave suddenly began to shake violently, as if a giant beast awakened from a deep sleep, angrily trying to break free from its bonds. Stones fell from the cave ceiling, raising clouds of dust, and the entire space was filled with an oppressive and dangerous atmosphere. "This is bad, it's going to collapse here, we have to leave quickly." Shen Jingqi shouted loudly, his voice tinged with a trace of urgency and tension. He quickly stepped forward, supporting the shaky Li Baiyu, feeling her body trembling slightly, but her determined gaze never wavered.
"Senior, hold on, we can definitely make it out." Shen Jingqi tightly held her hand, as if this could transfer endless strength to her. Li Baiyu nodded slightly, her lips parting lightly: "I trust you, and us." Her voice was weak, yet full of trust.
The two stopped speaking and began to desperately run towards the cave exit. Each step was arduous, with the ground beneath their feet constantly shifting, seemingly ready to swallow them at any moment. Stones fell like raindrops, some grazing past their bodies, others crashing heavily beside them, sending up showers of debris. Shen Jingqi protected Li Baiyu while vigilantly observing the surroundings, his mind working rapidly, searching for the best escape route.
"Watch out above!" Shen Jingqi suddenly shouted, pulling Li Baiyu aside. A huge rock brushed past their shoulders, falling where they had just stood, with a deafening crash. Dust flew into the air, suffocating them. Li Baiyu coughed a few times, her face growing paler, but her eyes remained steadfast without the slightest hint of retreat.
"Senior, are you okay?" Shen Jingqi asked anxiously, his eyes full of worry. Li Baiyu took a deep breath, enduring her discomfort, and said, "I'm fine, keep running." The two quickened their pace again, struggling to move forward in the collapsing cave.
Suddenly, a massive crack appeared ahead of them, stretching across their path like an insurmountable chasm. Rocks continued to fall into the crack, making fearsome sounds. "What do we do?" Li Baiyu looked at the crack, her brow furrowed. Shen Jingqi quickly surveyed the surroundings, spotting a large rock nearby that might help them jump across.
"Senior, trust me, we'll jump over from that rock." Shen Jingqi pointed at the rock. Li Baiyu looked at him, a trace of hesitation flashing in her eyes, but she quickly regained her resolve. "Okay, I trust you." She tightly held onto Shen Jingqi's hand.
The two approached the rock, Shen Jingqi took a deep breath, then leaped, taking Li Baiyu with him to the other side. In the air, time seemed to freeze, their heartbeats echoing in their ears. Finally, they successfully landed on the other side, but their bodies were propelled forward by inertia. Shen Jingqi held Li Baiyu tightly, falling heavily onto the ground himself.
"Are you okay?" Li Baiyu asked urgently, her eyes full of concern. Shen Jingqi gritted his teeth, enduring the pain and replied, "I'm fine, keep going." The two stood up again and continued running toward the cave exit.
As they went deeper, the shaking of the cave grew more intense, as if it could collapse at any moment. Suddenly, a group of mysterious shadows appeared ahead, looming in the dim cave. "What are those?" Li Baiyu asked in fear. Shen Jingqi felt a chill; he didn't know what those shadows were, but instinct told him they were nothing good.
"Don't mind them, rush through." Shen Jingqi gritted his teeth, pulling Li Baiyu forward. The shadows seemed to sense their approach, emitting sharp cries and pouncing towards them. Shen Jingqi drew a weapon from his waist, meeting them head-on. His movements were swift and fierce, each swing packed with great force. Li Baiyu was not to be outdone; though her body was weak, she still fought the shadows tenaciously.
However, the shadows seemed endless, pouring in from all sides. Shen Jingqi and Li Baiyu were gradually running low on stamina, their bodies bearing multiple injuries. "This is not working, we need to find a way to break through." Shen Jingqi shouted loudly. Li Baiyu scanned the surroundings and suddenly noticed a narrow passageway nearby. "Let's go through there." She pointed to the passage.
The two quickly dashed towards the passage, the shadows in hot pursuit. In the passageway, their movements were somewhat restricted, but it also prevented the shadows from completely surrounding them. Shen Jingqi and Li Baiyu, with their unyielding will and agile skills, trudged through the passage. Each step was fraught with danger, but they showed no sign of retreat.
Finally, they saw the end of the passage, where a glimmer of light was coming through. "The exit, the exit is just ahead." Shen Jingqi shouted excitedly. The two accelerated, sprinting towards the exit. The moment they ran out of the passage, it was like stepping from hell to heaven. Sunlight bathed them, filling them with warmth and reassurance.
They looked at the wounds on each other's bodies and exchanged a smile.
"Senior, what do we do next?" Shen Jingqi asked, his eyes filled with confusion. Li Baiyu gazed into the distance, contemplating for a moment before saying, "Although we've saved the world, it seems there's a huge conspiracy behind this disaster. We must discover the truth to prevent similar disasters from happening again." Shen Jingqi nodded, firmly saying, "Alright, I'll join you in this."
The two decided to return to school first, to organize their thoughts and gather more clues. On their way back, they found their surroundings had become somewhat unfamiliar. The once bustling city was now desolate, filled with ruins and debris. People's eyes were full of fear and despair, as if they had lost hope in life.
"This is something we must face." Li Baiyu said softly, her voice carrying a hint of heaviness. Shen Jingqi clenched his fists and said, "We will definitely restore the world to its former vitality."
When they returned to school, they found that it had changed as well. Some familiar faces were gone, replaced by unfamiliar ones. A sense of foreboding rose in Shen Jingqi's heart, and he anxiously searched around. Finally, in one room, he found a few injured students.
