Chapter 28 - 28: A Battle That Started Well but Ended Well

Su Xiuyu and Mito stood on the sidelines, watching the fierce battle between Hashirama and Madara. Meanwhile, Uzumaki Masahiko and Uzumaki Hibiki never stopped talking.

"Uchiha Xiuyu, what kind of jutsu is that giant Madara's using? It's terrifying! Is it some kind of ability from the Uchiha bloodline? But I've never seen Tajima use it. Would he really rather die in battle than keep such a secret?" Masahiko rambled, his tone full of disbelief.

"And Hashirama's technique—Wood Release—I've never even heard of it before. Is this some kind of Senju bloodline ability? I swear, this world is getting more and more incomprehensible to me. We old guys might as well be buried already." He sighed heavily, but the curiosity in his eyes didn't fade.

Hibiki smirked. "Mito, we really came out at the right time. Otherwise, we wouldn't be getting such a front-row seat to history in the making."

Masahiko, for once, actually agreed and nodded enthusiastically.

"The giant Madara summoned is called Susanoo. The Uchiha clan evolves their Sharingan from three tomoe to the next stage—the Mangekyō Sharingan. That's what allows them to use this ultimate, destructive technique capable of shaking the heavens and earth: Susanoo. It's named after a god," Su Xiuyu explained.

"And Hashirama's Wood Release isn't an inherited bloodline ability. It's a completely new power he created by fusing Earth Release and Water Release. It's full of untapped potential."

Su Xiuyu knew exactly what was happening, so he gave a brief explanation to Uzumaki Masahiko and Uzumaki Hibiki.

"You should record this information and pass it down through the Uzumaki clan, but make sure it doesn't get leaked," he warned them.

Masahiko and Hibiki nodded happily. "Of course! The Uzumaki clan is the best at keeping secrets. No one can break our seals but us," Masahiko assured him.

Mito glanced at Su Xiuyu, her brows furrowed slightly. "You seem to know a lot, Xiu Yu," she said curiously. The man she admired always carried an air of confidence, as if nothing ever truly surprised him.

Su Xiuyu smirked. "Take a guess—why do you think I know about Susanoo? You know, even though Susanoo has existed before, this is the very first time an Uchiha has awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan and manifested it."

Mito's eyes widened slightly as she thought it over. "Wait... does that mean you've also awakened your eyes? I almost forgot—you have Uchiha blood, too."

"I haven't awakened the Mangekyō," Su Xiuyu admitted, "but I have mastered Susanoo."

Masahiko's ears perked up. "Can we record this in the Uzumaki archives?" he asked tentatively.

Su Xiuyu nodded. "Sure, it's not exactly a big secret. Just don't spread it around carelessly."

Mito, however, was still stuck on his earlier admission. "Wait, how did you do that? You don't have the Mangekyō Sharingan, but you can use Susanoo?"

Su Xiuyu chuckled, ruffling her hair. "It's complicated, and it involves things you don't need to worry about right now," he said gently. The truth was, the world wasn't ready for the knowledge of the Six Paths just yet.

Mito knew when to press and when to back off. She recognized that Su Xiuyu had his secrets, and as the Uzumaki clan's little princess, she knew better than to push when it wasn't the right time.

Masahiko let out a long sigh as he watched Hashirama and Madara clash. "The world has changed so much, so quickly. With their strength, I wouldn't be surprised if Hashirama and Madara ended up unifying all the ninja clans in the World."

Su Xiuyu shook his head. "Not yet. They're still short of their peak. Give them another year or two, and they'll reach their full potential."

He knew this was just the beginning. Hashirama hadn't even learned Sage Mode yet, nor the Wooden Golem Jutsu or the True Thousand Hands technique. Madara, too, had yet to unleash his full potential—his Perfect Susanoo, or the terrifying combination of Susanoo and the Nine-Tails.

Only then would the world come to truly fear the God of Shinobi.

"Mito, you and Uncle Masahiko stay here. I'm going to put an end to this fight." Su Xiuyu's robe billowed in the wind.

"I can't hold back the blood in my veins any longer!"

Mito looked worried but nodded. "Be careful, Xiu Yu."

At that moment, the earth cracked, and a massive rock giant emerged, its size rivaling that of Madara's Susanoo.

"Earth Release: Rock Armor." The rock giant lunged at Susanoo.

"Earth Release: Earth Lion Roll!" A massive wave of earth surged forward, crashing into Hashirama's sea of trees.

The clansmen watching the battle on both sides were stunned. Who had interfered?

"Xiu Yu, come out! I know it's you!" Madara's voice rang out.

"I knew it was you! No one else uses Earth Release like that," Hashirama added.

Standing atop the rock giant, Su Xiuyu smirked. "Alright, Madara, that's enough."

"Oh no, no, no," Madara grinned, his battle lust ignited. "If you're getting involved, you'd better be ready to fight!"

Su Xiuyu knew Madara too well—there was no reasoning with him when he was in this state.

Fine, then. He'd just have to knock some sense into him first.

The Earth Lion Roll crashed through Hashirama's sea of trees, stopping in front of the wooden dragon. Su Xiuyu stepped forward from the lion's head—though it was only his earth clone.

"Hashirama, it's been a while. Let's not fight here. We need to talk."

Hashirama was about to respond when Tobirama suddenly shouted, "Water Release: Hard Vortex Water Blade!"

A high-pressure spiral of water shot toward Su Xiuyu, but the Earth Lion simply swatted Tobirama away with a massive claw.

Hashirama sighed. "I'm sorry. Tobirama must have thought you were siding with Uchiha Madara. I'll go check on him."

"Go ahead. See if he's still breathing," Su Xiuyu said flatly. Tobirama's constant scheming irritated him. Sure, his sharp mind balanced out Hashirama's naïveté, but he was too ungrateful, always taking goodwill for granted.

Hashirama found Tobirama coughing up blood. "Tobirama, why did you attack Su Xiuyu?"

Tobirama wiped his mouth, his expression guarded. "Brother, his last name is Uchiha—Uchiha Xiuyu. I thought he might turn against you."

Hashirama frowned. "Tobirama, don't act on your own. You're no match for Xiu Yu. If he hadn't gone easy on you, you'd be in much worse shape. I don't understand why you always treat him as an enemy. Xiu Yu is a good person."

Tobirama looked away. "Maybe it's because he's terrifying, Brother. He caught up to you and Madara's level of power in less than a year. You two are already considered the greatest geniuses in the world... but Uchiha Xiuyu is even scarier."

"That's why you've been targeting him?" Hashirama asked.

"Yes. All fear comes from the unknown. Uchiha Xiuyu —" Tobirama hesitated. "No. I've never called him Su Xiuyu. Brother, didn't he introduce himself as that when he first arrived? I don't even know if that's his real name. But now, all that matters is that he's an Uchiha."

Hashirama chuckled, glancing at the nearby Uchiha clan members. "Tobirama, look at them. Ordinary people fear Madara and me too. That's just how it is."

"Tobirama, if you're afraid, then invent more powerful ninjutsu. The stronger you become, the less timid you'll be."

----

"Tsk, big brother, you're still too naive. The Uchiha Clan already had Uchiha Madara, and now there's that freak Uchiha Xiuyu. Have you even thought about what that means for our Senju Clan?" Tobirama said, his tone laced with concern. He always considered the worst possible outcomes, and the emergence of Su Xiuyu as a powerhouse among the Uchiha deeply unsettled him.

"Tobirama, both Madara and Xiuyu agree with my vision. Sooner or later, we'll build a unified village together. Peace will come, you'll see. Stop worrying so much about the Uchiha," Hashirama said earnestly. He knew it wasn't easy to change Tobirama's mind.

"Brother, you're still so childish," Tobirama scoffed.

"Honestly, I haven't even used my full strength yet. You should at least have some faith in your big brother!" Hashirama smiled, attempting to reassure him.

But deep down, Hashirama suspected that Su Xiuyu hadn't used his full strength either. He chose not to mention this to Tobirama.

---

On the battlefield, Madara and Su Xiuyu were locked in a stalemate. Madara's Susanoo was covered in cracks, while Su Xiuyu's Rock Armor Titan was on the verge of collapse. Both of them could restore their constructs by pouring in more chakra, but there was no real need.

Madara's battle fervor gradually faded. He knew continuing this fight wasn't an option. He had already exhausted himself in a prior battle with Hashirama, and his chakra reserves were running low. Su Xiuyu, acting as a mediator, gave him a way out—one that didn't wound his pride. Besides, Su Xiuyu was also an Uchiha, so withdrawing wasn't exactly shameful.

Both warriors slowly relaxed as the battle wound down. Uzumaki Mito immediately rushed forward to tend to the injured Uchiha members, while Uzumaki Masahiko and Uzumaki Hibiki focused on treating the Senju wounded.

Luckily, because the battle between Madara and Hashirama had begun so early, it had effectively separated the two clans before they could fully engage in bloodshed. As a result, there were no deaths—only injuries. Compared to previous wars, this was already a miracle.

Madara panted heavily. At this point, he had yet to realize the toll that the Mangekyō Sharingan would take on his body. He was unaware that excessive use would gradually lead to blindness, especially for someone like him who constantly relied on Susanoo.

Standing at the edge of a massive ravine carved into the earth by their battle, Madara and Hashirama regarded each other. The once-stable ground had been transformed into a lake due to their destructive clash.

"Let's end it here," Madara said.

"I have no objections," Hashirama agreed.

They both knew there was no point in continuing. While they shared the dream of a unified village, their clans still harbored deep-seated grudges. Even if the two of them wanted peace, their people weren't ready to accept it yet.

This battle had started with intensity but ended with an uneasy truce. For both the Senju and Uchiha, simply surviving was a victory in itself. Only by witnessing the horrors of war firsthand could they truly understand the value of peace.

Madara and Hashirama exchanged silent nods before turning back toward their respective territories.

Among the younger warriors, some quietly wept, overwhelmed by the realization that they had narrowly escaped death. No one ridiculed them for their tears—every man here had risked his life in battle.

"Let's go home," Madara commanded.

"Yes, Patriarch!" his clansmen responded in unison.

The return journey felt oddly lighthearted. Each warrior was eager to reunite with their family, lovers, and children.

"Look! The warriors have returned!"

The elderly, the weak, and the infirm—all those who had stayed behind in the village—emerged from their homes to welcome their loved ones.

Families reunited with tearful embraces, even those who had lost limbs smiling as they held their loved ones close. For the first time in a long while, laughter and conversation filled the air. There was no longer the looming shadow of death. Even those wounded in battle were simply grateful to be alive.

Standing on the sidelines, Mito and Su Xiuyu observed the scene in silence. Mito let out a sigh.

"Xiuyu, this is the Uchiha Clan," she murmured. "I can see it—everyone here is longing for peace. We have to find a way to build that village. The foundation is already there."

Madara, watching his people, felt a rare sense of relief.

"Izuna and I both support the idea. Now, we just need to take things step by step," Su Xiuyu advised.

"First, we introduce the idea to the clan and let them get used to it. Then, we reach out to the Senju and propose an alliance. Once the Uchiha and Senju are united, we can use our combined strength to gather other ninja clans under one banner.

"With enough clans and people on board, we can start planning the village's location and begin its construction in earnest."

Madara nodded. "Sounds like a plan."

"But for now..." he smirked. "Tonight, we celebrate! Xiuyu, don't even think about sneaking away. We're drinking until we drop!"

Su Xiuyu chuckled but was quickly interrupted.

"Xiuyu, I understand the plan, but... what about Rei?"

Mito's question made Su Xiuyu freeze.

Before the battle, when Mito had first arrived at the Uchiha compound, she had assumed that Su Xiuyu lived alone. Some clansmen had mentioned it, and she had intended to help tidy up his home—only to discover that he had a young, beautiful maid named Rei living with him.

Mito had held back from bringing it up before the war, not wanting to distract him. But now that the fighting was over, she wasn't going to let it slide.

Su Xiuyu felt a headache coming on. Damn, she's settling the score now?

Madara, sensing danger, quickly made himself scarce.

"Izuna, didn't you say your Fire Style needs work? Let's go train."

Izuna, eager to escape, immediately followed. "Yes, yes! Let's hit the training grounds now!"

The two brothers bolted, leaving Su Xiuyu alone with Mito. Even Masahiko and Hibiki—both seasoned veterans in avoiding trouble—had quietly slipped away the moment Mito mentioned Rei.

"Rei is just someone I took in. She insists on calling herself my maid, but all she does is handle my meals and daily chores," Su Xiuyu explained.

"Nothing else?" Mito pressed.

"That's all," he insisted. "What else could there be?"

"Then why do I keep hearing the Uchiha clansmen praise your 'good taste' in choosing a beautiful maid? They all say you had an eye for talent."

Su Xiuyu gritted his teeth. Who the hell is spreading these rumors?!

"That's not true! Rei was just a survivor from the massacre of the Blood Pond Clan. I had no intention of keeping her at first, but she begged for mercy—not for herself, but for her child. I couldn't ignore that, so I took her in. If you don't believe me, you can ask the Uchiha yourself."

Mito stared at him for a long moment before finally speaking.

"Fine. Then let me meet Rei."
