Chapter 725: Patriarch Xue Pao’s Scheme

After emerging from the black clouds, Lin Jin saw the bright sky once more.

Jin Chi praised him for being such a vicious character by flooding the enemy first before electrocuting them right after. With this, no matter how profound the enemy’s cultivation was, they couldn’t escape the attack if they were underwater.

Also, Lin Jin’s Purple Thunder Needle was far too strong that even immortals suffered.

All in all, it was a great move. Jin Chi noted that if he was on the receiving end of this attack, he would probably have to lay down his life there.

This had truly been a sudden idea on Lin Jin’s part. While the Purple Thunder Needle may be powerful, it was slightly lacking for defeating a profound immortal.

Killing half immortals was more probable.

Just then, the black clouds began to dissipate.

Not too long ago, when Lin Jin was still pondering if he should charge into the pagoda forest, somewhere deep inside, Patriarch Xue Pao was sitting cross-legged on the floor, holding onto a sutra that gleamed with light.

He seemed to be chanting the sutra but his eyes would dart around from time to time and his brows were furrowed tight.

“Patriarch Xue Pao, didn’t you say Lin Jin will surely rush in here? Then, we’ll be able to activate our killing array. With the combination of both our profound immortal strength, Lin Jin will definitely die no matter what kind of abilities he has. So why hasn’t he come over yet?” a voice rang beside Patriarch Xue Pao’s ears.

It was a voice transmission.

Without moving his lips, Patriarch Xue Pao sent back a voice transmission, saying, “Cult Leader, you need not be anxious. Our trap and scheme are flawless. Based on my understanding of Lin Jin, he will surely come. Let’s wait for a little while longer.”

Despite saying that, as time passed, even Patriarch Xue Pao began to doubt his own speculation.

“To think that a mere mortal was able to kill my vice leader. Who exactly is this Lin Jin? Patriarch Xue Pao, attacking Lin Jin was your idea. Now that my Beast Deity Cult has suffered such a huge loss, you have to give me an explanation,” the cult leader’s voice came once more.

Patriarch Xue Pao got annoyed by this.

Truth be told, his plan of borrowing the Beast Deity Cult’s strength to eliminate Lin Jin had been going smoothly since the beginning… until Lin Jin appeared.

Patriarch Xue Pao had met the Beast Deity Cult’s vice leader too and the latter was truly strong. He was also a rare body immortal who had cultivated up to the rank of profound immortal.

Even in the prime of his strength, Patriarch Xue Pao knew he couldn’t compete against the body profound immortal, and yet, the latter had died in Lin Jin’s hands.

When Patriarch Xue Pao heard this news, he was dumbstruck. He even thought it might be fake.

However, he also knew he had to keep his composure.

Urging the Beast Deity Cult to invade Jade Dragon Kingdom so they could lure Lin Jin out to kill him was Patriarch Xue Pao’s plan. Now that this plan had gone awry, the Beast Deity Cult leader would surely penalize him.

Patriarch Xue Pao had been forced to tell them that Lin Jin’s magic treasures and precious items were worth the effort. Of course, to further persuade the Beast Deity Cult, he even said that Lin Jin possessed a ‘sacred stone’.

This sacred stone was actually a fragment of the Heaven’s Foundation Stone from the nine heavens. It was also the item that brought on the demise of the immortal’s era. Back then, the immortal emperor had been arrogant and delusional, wanting to be on equal footing with Heaven, which was ultimately the cause of the tragedy.

Being the strongest unfettered immortal and emperor of all immortals, this immortal emperor who had lived for a time unknown had managed to destroy the Heaven’s Foundation Stone before his own demise. Fragments of the Heaven’s Foundation Stone were then known to have fallen into the mortal realm.

And these fragments are sacred stones.

Patriarch Xue Pao had told Lin Jin the same story, but he certainly concealed a few details.

Why was Patriarch Xue Pao willing to risk everything to give Lin Jin trouble? Hatred was only one factor, and he wouldn’t be so insistent if he was only doing this out of spite. The real reason here was because he knew that Lin Jin did indeed possess a sacred stone.

This was a secret only he knew about.

The blood ghost was an exotic beast he created from his own flesh and blood, though Lin Jin now had ownership over it. That instant, through certain secret arts, Patriarch Xue Pao managed to peep into some of Lin Jin’s secrets.

And he had sensed the aura of the sacred stone.

The last time he told Lin Jin about the immortal emperor and Heaven’s Foundation Stone, he had done so just to probe Lin Jin to see if he knew anything about the sacred stone.

Alas, either Lin Jin was a great actor and too shrewd, or he didn’t even know he possessed a sacred stone that everyone else yearned for.

If it was the latter, Patriarch Xue Pao felt this was his chance.

If he could take possession of the sacred stone inside Lin Jin’s body, with his existing knowledge, he could become a peerless existence. He was that confident in himself.

His assumption wasn’t baseless either. Besides sensing the sacred stone’s aura, Lin Jin’s abrupt rise to success had also been a piece of circumstantial evidence.

As a mere mortal without any foundation, Lin Jin had improved too quickly.

Patriarch Xue Pao even analyzed that so-called backing of Lin Jin’s, ‘Curator’. He came to the conclusion that Curator was merely a fictional character played by Lin Jin himself.

There were so many advantages to doing this. Lin Jin could draw attention to a non-existent person while he laid low and developed himself. It was truly a brilliant idea and Patriarch Xue Pao was quite impressed.

So in a sense, Lin Jin’s sudden growth further verified that he had a fragment of the Heaven’s Foundation Stone inside him, and this was Patriarch Xue Pao’s true goal.

Patriarch Xue Pao only got the Beast Deity Cult involved because he wasn’t strong enough on his own and needed help. According to his plan, once they obtained the sacred stone, Patriarch Xue Pao would seize it for his own. The Beast Deity Cult was merely his tool.

Although his plan was now flawed, Patriarch Xue Pao still thought he had control over the situation. And then, he suddenly felt wet around his butt. He looked down to see water flooding up around him.

“Where did all this water come from?” Patriarch Xue Pao was stunned. He turned to the spot where the cult leader and the other three half immortals were hiding, but they too had no idea and were dumbstruck by this flood.

Then, a wave of water rushed over.

“This is Lin Jin’s ability,” Patriarch Xue Pao deduced.

“What do we do now?” The cult leader wanted to fly up but Patriarch Xue Pao stopped him.

“Stay calm, Cult Leader, that brat is only trying to test us.”

“Test us?” The cult leader was stunned.

Patriarch Xue Pao went on to explain, “That brat, Lin Jin, is a cunning one. He probably thinks we’ve laid out a trap for him so he’s too afraid to come in on his own. Instead, he’s using water to attack us from a distance. We have to stay calm and refrain from making any reckless moves. So when Lin Jin rushes over later, we can catch him off guard and attack him!”
