MY 10,000× DIMENSIONAL SYSTEM-Chapter 155: Azure
Azure
"From now on, your name will be Azure," Christopher said after some thought.
When he did, he noticed a very faint shudder from her body.
"Azure..." She whispered softly, as if testing the way the name rolled off her tongue.
Christopher nodded.
"Mhm, your name is Azure." He confirmed and saw that her status window changed to include the new name.
Satisfied, Christopher turned to Azure, who still seemed a bit taken aback.
"Take off your helmet. I want to see your face as I talk to you." He said, not for any strange reason, it’s just that he was used to speaking to the faces of his people. That and she was pleasant to look at.
Hearing the instruction, Azure didn’t hesitate. Her helmet seemed to turn into blue dust that fell off her head and melded with the rest of her armor, revealing her beautiful face.
Satisfied, Christopher observed her for a moment before saying.
"Can you tell me about yourself?" He was curious about her past and her origins.
Azure nodded dutifully.
"I was the first of the Azure knights created by the former lord and head of his vanguard." Hearing this, Christopher felt a bit of anticipation.
There was quite a bit to learn about this hidden realm from the Scions. However, Christopher was more interested in the creator and the type of person they were.
Still, Christopher didn’t immediately jump to the bug stuff and asked.
"The first. So there’s more of you? Or there were, at least." At this, Azure nodded.
"Correct. Master created an entire legion of us." This statement surprised Christopher.
"Created? I thought you were a natural lifeform." Azure shook her head.
"While I do possess the qualities of a natural lifeform, I am, in fact, artificial. My former lord excelled in the control of souls and could manipulate them well enough. He used this ability to create me and my Comrades." When he heard this, Christopher had a sudden wave of questions arise in his mind. Discover exclusive content at novelbuddy
’Hold on, System. If she’s an artificial lifeform, how is her bloodline capable of being evolved? I doubt there’s a trace of something belonging to a higher level.’ He asked.
Back then, the system told him that the idea behind the (Evolution Possible) was that bloodlines always had the trace of something greater within them, which the system built upon and elevated whenever the Dimension was upgraded or a being was thrown inside for the first time.
However, Azure was an artificial lifeform. In that case, how did she have a bloodline in the first place? And how could it be evolved if it was artificial?
[Even though she is an artificial life form, she was still created from something. This Paragon must have had a foundation they used to create her, one strong enough considering the capability she displayed. From what has been Detected, besides her body, there are traces of multiple bloodlines that were "stitched" together to help create the foundation used in her creation. These bloodlines weren’t particularly impressive. But again, the option to evolve them came from the fact that there is a trace of something greater within which the system capitalizes on and enhances.
[Azure’s existence is unprecedented, and quite frankly, unique. When her bloodline evolves, it will bring forth something that won’t be recorded anywhere else, most likely beyond whatever her creator intended.] When the system finished, Christopher blinked. That was more information than he was expecting, with much deeper implications than he had imagined.
Christopher took a deep breath and fuelled his growing excitement. This was indeed unprecedented and something to look forward to. But Christopher couldn’t explore it quite yet as he still needed his Dimension to be upgraded again before the following enhancement could occur and allow him to see just what this unique bloodline of Azure would hold.
As such, he decided to ask his other question.
’This was an oversight on my part, but I recall Thanatos telling me that the reason he can’t give his undead souls is because the moment he does, they will cease to be undead, since the moment he gives them a soul, they will technically be alive. But Thanatos has a soul and is still an undead. How does that work?’ He asked, and again, the system answered him immediately.
[This is fairly simple. Thanatos has a soul, but it isn’t bound to his body the way a living being’s soul is bound to theirs. For normal beings, the soul is fused with the body, but in the case of a Lich, the sound is anchored externally, usually with a certain medium, while the body remains an autonomous construct. This means that while Thanatos possesses a soul, he is not truly alive, because his physical form is fundamentally a vessel for necrotic energy, not a naturally living body. This is why he can manipulate souls without "reviving" his undead since his own existence is based on keeping soul and body distinct rather than fusing them.] When it finished, Christopher’s eyes lit up as he absorbed the information, then he asked again.
He didn’t ask where Thanatos kept his soul and he already knew that the core was in the Lich’s chest, he always wondered what that was. Now he was fairly sure that was the medium the system spoke of.
He then returned his attention to Azure who hadn’t moved from her spot since and pondered for a bit before asking.
"What happened to the others like you?" Azure once more answered without hesitation.
"When my former lord passed away, their bodies gradually eroded and turned into many of the various rare treasures those outside the realm seek to attain." Hearing this, Christopher blinked.
’Well, that’s kind of ominous.’ He sighed and asked another question.
"Why didn’t you erode? In fact, why were you waiting on top of that mountain in that door? You were waiting for a challenger, why?" He enquired curiously.
"The reason I didn’t erode is unknown to me, I attribute it to the works of my former lord. As for why I was waiting at the top of the mountain, indeed, I was waiting for a challenger. My former lord... he wanted me to find someone worth serving after his death if I was defeated by someone on that mountain, then I’d follow that person." Christopher was genuinely surprised by this.
’... Something tells me she wasn’t just another soldier.’ His interested amusement turned a little bit more sober at the thought.
’If what I’m getting from this is right, her former lord didn’t just create her as a tool. He genuinely cared for her, enough to give her a choice in the future. If she was meant to simply exist until she eroded away like the others, there would be no need for such a test and condition. The fact that she remained intact while others faded away... hm.’ Christopher considered multiple possibilities.
He judged the main reason she didn’t erode away was because of her unique bloodline, but the fact that her creator knew she would eventually have to change masters meant there was more to it. Most likely, he made her to be more stable or durable than her counterparts, which would explain a lot.
He also wanted her to live on. Instead of eroding into a simple treasur like the rest of his creations, he ensured that she had a path forward. One that depended on her strength and judgment.
’What kind of Paragon was he really?’ The question rang in Christopher’s mind. He didn’t know what he expected personality wise. But if he was daring enough to lead all sorts of people and mess up fate just to find a good enough vessel to take over and revive himself, then Christopher imagined he’d be quite ruthless.
Yet this revelation caused that image to slowly crack. Then again, it isn’t completely outlandish for a ruthless person to care deeply about someone.
Still, it made Christopher all the more curious about who this Paragon was.

He was also impressed with his foresight which was good enough to allow him to plan so far ahead. It was impressive, to say the least.
But he was curious about something else. This Paragon clearly favored her, but the more he thought about it, the more he was a bit confused. Didn’t she seem a but... weak?
"Say, weren’t you a bit weak if you were so favored by your former lord? You’d have been at the peak of the Apex rank at least right?" This made Azure pause before nodding.
"Master is correct. I was at the Sovereign rank before the former lord passed away. However, after he passed away, my Comrades and I started to regress. I assume this is one of the reasons they eroded. But for some reason, when I regressed to the Grey rank, my strength stopped declining, which I attribute to my former lord again." Hearing this, Christopher was curious. There was a lot more to Azure than he had originally anticipated, and he intended to learn all of it
