MY 10,000× DIMENSIONAL SYSTEM-Chapter 196: Suffering From Success
Suffering From Success
One moment, great changes were taking place, and in the next, it was as though it was all a dream as the upgrade went away as abruptly as it started.
However, the effects it left were as real as they got.
Christopher got up and let loose a big stretch. The result being the sound of pops ringing like nuclear bombs.
"Phew." He looked at his hands and clenched his fists a few times. Just like before, his body was brimming with power that begged to be released.

He then overlooked the Primordial Expanse and sighed. Its size was starting to become truly massive.
He looked at Eidrasil's main body in the distance, the dense life energy she released no longer being restricted to the part of Edenveil as it stretched to every part of the planet and beyond. No doubt doing wonders for its inhabitants.
He then turned his attention to the moon which he needed to give a proper name at this point. Despite being so far away, he could clearly feel an ominous Aura residing on its surface.
'That must be the Elder Thing. I wonder what it became now.' Immediately he had that thought, a stat window appeared in front of him.
<Name: N/A
Race: Lesser Old One
Rank: Quasi-Sovereign
Affinity: Madness, Dreams
Physique: Mid Totality
Bloodline: Cthulhu

"..."
On the one hand, Christopher was a bit happy. He'd be lying if he said constantly needing to look at one of his people before knowing their stats was a bit inconvenient, especially if he was busy with something. Clearly, one of the upgrades allowed him to check their stats remotely, which he liked a lot more than he'd assumed.
However, this Lesser Old One... was certainly something.
He had a feeling it was an eldritch horror due to its origin as a Shoggoth and then an Elder Thing. But to have the Cthulhu Bloodline was certainly shocking as that meant Cthulhu was real.
This granted three different reactions from Christopher. On one hand, he was confused. Actually he'd long since noticed that there were many things that were deemed as fantasy or myth on earth that seemed to be real within the rest of the multiverse, and this added to his confusion. Did that mean H.P. Lovecraft had truly seen Cthulhu in his dreams or something?
Then there was the excitement. Christopher never read the Lovecraftian Mythos, but it was certainly a concept he was interested in. The concept of outer gods and the like was something he found appealing, and he often wondered how people could come up with such complex worlds and world building. But knowing that such worlds were real, he was curious to see what other things he thought were myths but were, in fact, real.
Then came the apprehension.
Christopher wasn't a huge fan of powerscaling on earth, mostly due to how irritating powerscalers were, but he was familiar enough with the concept and often saw things related to the Lovecraftian Mythos being compared to other works of 'fiction'. He always saw strange things like 'layers into outerversal' and 'transcending infinite worlds and possibilities'.
If H.P. Lovecraft had been inspired by the real thing, and he was writing facts, then that meant those power scaling terms weren't just for show.
'Focus on the present Christopher.' He rubbed his temples, then he decided to look at his stats.
<Name: Christopher
Title: [§█Ξ∞•]... Sovereign Catalyst

Rank: Sovereign
Affinity: Equilibrium Helix
Physique: Duality Nexus Physique
Bloodline: Primordial Human (Evolution Possible)

Christopher had to do a double take.
'What happened to my title???' He tried to focus on what the first string of words were, but the system hit him with a less than appealing message.
[The System is still attempting to understand the full scope of what has just occurred. Please wait a moment.] Hearing this, Christopher frowned a little bit.
'To be fair, the system isn't omniscient. Extremely knowledgeable, but not omniscient. It's possible that what's happening has never happened before, so it's struggling a bit to tabulate it. Or something like that.' He sighed as he decided to focus on his other stats.
He was a bit disappointed he wasn't skipping ranks like when he was still in the mortal Realm, but then again, the fact he ascended to Sovereign this quickly was already abnormal, so he had no right to complain.
He guessed he was just eager to get stronger so that he wouldn't be afraid of the entities that had 'seen' him before.
His Affinity and Physique hadn't changed, no surprise there. He saw no way for them to upgrade anymore. After all, the system told him that they were beyond the distinctions given to ordinary Physiques and Affinities, so while he had no doubt of their increased potency, he doubted he'd see a change in their names soon.
As for his Bloodline. It had FINALLY reached the stage of evolution. Christopher wasn't in a hurry to evolve his Bloodline... okay that was a lie. The truth is that he'd seen how his subordinates had gotten so many cool abilities from their bloodlines evolving and he wanted his to evolve as well.
The only reason he didn't feel too jealous was because as he got stronger, he realised just how useful his original Affinity which was granted to him by his Bloodline, the Magic Helix Affinity, truly was. So he was eager to find out what went beyond that.
[Information analysed.] The System's voice snapped him out of his reverie and he focused on the matter at hand.
"Show me." He said aloud.
[System Notification: Authority Mutation Detected]
> [Primordial Arbiter Authority has reached the threshold of its structural limitations. Evolution is no longer possible, as it exists at the apex of Authority classification across all known metaphysical hierarchies.]
> [However, your Authority has undergone a mutation. Designation: "Sovereign Catalyst."]
> [Explanation follows.]
> Authority, as you know it, governs reality through rule imposition laws written upon existence, enforced by your will. As a Primordial Arbiter, you held dominion over these laws and shaped them with absolute finality. But now, your Authority has changed. It no longer simply imposes rules upon reality it has begun to rewrite the axioms of reality itself.]
> [Your Authority is no longer reactive. It is now generative. It no longer demands obedience from existence, it dictates its structure from the core upward.]
> Key Changes:
> 1. Causal Overwriting Protocol:
Rules created by you no longer require pre-existing frameworks to be interpreted or processed. They are directly integrated into the causal lattice of existence. What you declare does not require enforcement, it becomes the fundamental truth unless resisted by another Sovereign-tier entity.
> 2. Conceptual Fusion Channeling:
Your Authority may now bind itself to other conceptual forces you possess, such as Annihilation, Void, or Fate, to create hybrid laws. Example: "Destruction shall always trace weakness" was a primitive expression of this new capability.
> 3. Genesis Clause Protocol:
You may now implement rules that generate persistent phenomena, autonomous enforcers, or environmental changes. These clauses are self-perpetuating and operate even without your conscious control, forming new sub-laws and systems when necessary.
> 4. Temporal Drift Effect:
Rules declared under this Authority may ripple across time, subtly altering the preconditions of past events to fit the newly declared law. This is not direct time manipulation—but a retroactive contextual rewriting that adjusts past variables to align with present directives.
> Result:
Your Authority has ceased to merely arbitrate. It now catalyzes the world itself to reshape around your intent. You are no longer bound by reality. Reality is bound by you.
> [This phenomenon is exceedingly rare. Designation: "Sovereign Catalyst Mutation." Classification: Unique-Level Authority Deviation.]
> Caution: Unchecked application may destabilize local metaphysical laws, especially in domains not adapted to Sovereign-grade rule instantiation.
"(・・;)"
Christopher was genuinely speechless. What just happened?
He blinked a few times and read over the notification several times to make sure he didn't miss anything, and then an exasperated laugh left his mouth as he stared at notification in disbelief.
"... I can do this... this is my ability..." The realisation was... startling to say the least.
He had just barely come to terms with the fact that his authority allowed him to essentially do whatever he wanted, and the system itself said that he had reached the peak stage of Authority being the Primordial level, yet somehow he had transcended that.
'No. The system said that evolving past the Primordial stage isn't possible. This is a mutation. Sovereign Catalyst huh?' He smiled behind his mask.
Then he sighed.
'I don't think I've gone all out since I reached the Apex rank. Now I've gone beyond that and gotten even more broken abilities. I need to start learning how to use my repertoire better. Which was supposed to be the point of the training I was doing, but I barely made any progress before my bags of cheats suddenly grew deeper.' He sighedbefore bursting out laughing. The feeling of getting stronger was truly addicting, and complaining for having too many abilities. What was it called? Ah yes. Suffering from success.
