Curse Removed

Ancient Artifacts were truly incredible items.

Whether it was the way they came to exist, the abilities they possessed, or how they interacted with reality as a whole, each of them could only be described as miraculous phenomena that were rarely seen.

However, even among Ancient Artifacts, the Mask of the Dreamer was a unique thing. After all, as opposed to what the System said about Ancient Artifacts, the fact is that the Mask is a result of the System's abilities. Meaning that it was, to an extent, created.

The system never explained how Ancient Artifacts were created, but it was easy to assume that they were formed from the concept they embodied. So in this case, Dreams, Illusions, and Erasure.

The system played a large role in making it reach its current stage, and what's more, was that through the Progression Seed Protocol (PSP), the Mask had a path of growth, unlike most Ancient Artifacts.

Among many things, the Mask could 'eat' things related to the concepts it embodied. That included erasure.

However, one might say that the curse on Pruina wasn't erasure. After all, everyone still knew who he was, it's just that he became impossible to interact with.

But that's where one would be wrong. Yes, the effects of the curse were that people found the idea of interacting with him revolting, but HOW the curse worked was also important.

In short, the idea of Pruina forming relationships had been erased. That's why anyone who tried to form a bond with him would find such an act revolting because the idea of doing such didn't exist.

It makes one wonder how Azure's original self was capable of resisting the effects of the curse.

Regardless, it was something Pruina hadn't been able to rid himself of despite his greatest efforts.

But then came along Christopher. Christopher considered using his Authority. In fact, he was fairly certain that using it would get the result he wanted. After all, his authority was a mutation of the highest possible authority one could achieve. He had confidence in how potent it was.

However, he thought about it. What would happen if his mask absorbed a curse created by an entity that was the embodiment of erasure and forgetting?

"Stay still," Christopher spoke and Pruina snorted but remained still.

Christopher then pointed the plain white mask at Pruina and it hummed before vibrating.

Suddenly, Pruina froze up and his eyes bulged. However, it didn't seem to be from pain, just from being overwhelmed.

At the same time, Christopher sensed... something, get taken out of the Paragon's body. It was difficult to say what it was, but at that moment, he knew that something had been removed from the Paragon's body.

Immediately it happened, two things happened. For starters, Christopher suddenly felt like he didn't need to use his authority to resist the revulsion that came with interacting with Pruina.

The second thing came from his mask. He felt it warm up a bit before going still once more, a trace of satisfaction reaching him, curious, he decided to see what had happened.

'Stats are the same. Let's look through the abilities then.' He mused.

<Faceless (Level N/A)

Shrouded Step (Level N/A)

Dreamwalker (Level 4)

Unsure Reality (Level 3)

Now You See Me (Level N/A)>

Christopher blinked.

'Wow, it has more abilities without Levels than abilities with them.' He couldn't help but be surprised.

He was familiar with the first four abilities. Besides Faceless, Shrouded Step was what allowed his mask to screw with the perception of others. The description said that it wasn't stealth, but was making it impossible for people to acknowledge him, which in conjunction with Faceless, was something to be scared of.

Dreamwalker allowed Christopher to access the Dream Realm whenever he went to sleep. It was a strange place, and quite frankly, he wasn't keen on exploring it. However, while in the Dream Realm, Christopher had the ability to manipulate the dreams of people.

He wondered if the Lesser Old One could use it as well...

Unsure Reality was tied to the Illusion attribute, and long story short, it made the line between illusions and Reality become blurry, causing the target to be unable to distinguish them. Illusions suddenly became tangible and grounded concepts suddenly turned obscure and difficult to grasp. Once again, it was a terrifying ability.

Now came the last ability, Now You See Me.

[Now You See Me (Level N/A): Upon activation, the user gains the ability to 'Stage Reset'. Essentially, the user of this ability can rewind an event to a past state based on how people remember it. It isn't exactly rewinding time but instead performing a mass memory manipulation to make people believe what they thought happened truly happened. Moreover, it even affects to surroundings to make it seem like it wasn't just in their minds but is something that truly happened. The scale of the ability depends on the energy expended and the strength of those it is used on. But if used in conjunction with authority, it's effectiveness increases massively.]

'... I feel like I've reached a point where stupidly overpowered abilities don't even phase me anymore, because what the hell is even this?' He sighed, but he was jumping with joy internally.

"You... you truly got rid of it." Pruina's voice snapped him out of his reverie and he turned to see the Paragon who, to his surprise, was bawling his eyes out.

"After so long... this vile curse was removed..." He croaked as his tears fell freely.

'Damn, now I feel bad.' He sighed and hesitated before saying.

"Pruina, I cannot promise you revenge. But I can promise you this, I am going to give you power beyond you wildest Dreams, and maybe one day, it will be enough for you to seek out those who wronged you." Hearing this, the Paragon looked up with tear filled eyes, but despite the tears, his eyes were filled with a burning determination.

Christopher stretched out his hand, and Pruina took it.

"Phew, you're a tough nut to crack, I'll give you that." Belladonna said with a sing-song voice as the blood from her severed arm attached to the wound and pulled the arm back into place, the wound sealing itself seamlessly.

The person she was speaking to, Constella, was currently inside a blood-red glacier that had red runes floating around it. Her body was impaled by blue ice spikes in several places, and her body was marred with wounds.

Lenax grumbled something as he brushed off a few scales that had gotten loose from the battle, the raw muscle beneath becoming visible.

It seemed like he had more wounds than Belladonna, but the reality was that Belladonna's unnatural vitality made it so that she could return to her peak state in mere moments. Lenax also had a startling vitality, but compared to the vampire, his healing was a bit weaker.

"Seriously though, it's been a long time since someone who wasn't master pushed me that much. It felt really good, fighting for my life like that." Belladonna continued as she walked towards the glacier and placed her hand on it.

Despite being frozen, Constella's eyes were trained on Belladonna, but the Vampire didn't seem off-put by such a thing.

"It makes me wonder if I would have won if we hadn't jumped you. Probably, but hey, it was still fun. And we can fight a lot more after master is done with what he's doing." Constella's eyes narrowed at this and Belladonna chuckled.

"Oh don't look so shocked. We aren't going to kill you. Master doesn't like wasting perfectly functional subordinate. But he's liable to treat you better if you submit to him of your own will. But don't worry, you will do so in such a time." Belladonna looked Constella up and down and smiled.

"You're quite hot you know. It makes me wonder if you'll add to my competition." At that point, Lenax groaned.

"Oh my- Belladonna can you stop yapping?!" He snapped and the vampire turned to him with an adorable pout.

"Aw, but I rarely get to give my villainous monologue. Let me have my fun." She leand forward and pushed her chest upwards, she'd discarded her armor, sho her cleavage was definitely visible.

Her charm affected pretty much any being and wasn't limited to other vampires. As such, Lenax felt himself getting flustered, but he had better self control than that.

"Put those damn things away, or I will freeze you." He snorted.

"Oh?" Belladonna grinned and her body suddenly flashed to Lenax and she huffed one of his legs.

"My, such big and strong limbs~. I wonder what you can do with them~." His tail twitched and he grit his teeth.

"Get OFF!" He roared and threw her away.

Belladonna simply flipped midair and landed softly. She huffed, but her smile never left her face.

"You're no fun."
