My 100th Rebirth a day before the Apocalypse-Chapter 973 - 971 Mistake
Upon seeing Kisha’s reply, "The Rogue Blender" grew even more excited. It meant she truly had the means to obtain detoxification pills, or at the very least, the herbs needed to refine them. Either option would be an immense help, not only for him but for the allied forces of the righteous sect as well.
With such resources, their future confrontations against demonic cultivators and species would shift dramatically. No longer would they have to fear demonic energy as much; being able to detoxify it on the spot could turn the tide of battle and grant them a decisive advantage.
The thought alone made him restless. He felt both eager and anxious as he waited, fingers twitching with anticipation. Yet he forced himself to stay still, moving around too much would only draw attention and make him look suspicious in front of the others, something he couldn’t afford right now.
He had already told one massive lie, and in this world, one lie inevitably bred more. The more he spoke, the higher the chance he would slip, say something wrong, and expose himself. If that happened, he wouldn’t just lose credibility; he could very well become the next target.
After all, the Murim world was a brutal, dog-eat-dog realm where the strong ruled and the weak were preyed upon. Anyone who stood out too much was bound to attract danger. And with the amount of rare treasures in his possession, danger would come swiftly.
He had already made a mistake by letting them see the high-grade Spiritual Fruits and Crops. That alone was enough to put him on thin ice. The rest of the items would have to remain hidden for now, and could only be revealed when the timing was right.
As for the detoxification pills or herbs, he needed to think carefully. Their distribution had to be subtle and controlled, useful enough to save lives, but not so ostentatious that it painted a target on his back.
"Hah... it’s so hard carrying all these treasures. It feels like I’m hauling a powder keg with a lit fuse, I don’t know when it’s going to explode..." "The Rogue Blender" murmured to himself, slumping against the cave wall. From not far away, he could still hear the laughter and excited murmurs of the allied forces, a constant reminder of the precarious position he was in.
But his thoughts were interrupted when another notification popped up, Kisha had sent him a new trade request. When he opened it, his eyes nearly popped out of his head: she hadn’t just sent a thousand detoxification pills, she’d sent ten thousand.
Not only were these high-grade pills capable of cleansing demonic energy, but they could also neutralize a thousand different poisons, making them a literal lifesaver for him and his allies.
Even though only a few of them were present now, once reinforcements arrived, thousands from across the righteous sect would join them. Ten thousand pills might barely be enough, yet just seeing such a massive supply was beyond anything he had imagined. He almost fell to his knees in awe.
「Meanwhile, on Kisha’s side」
"008, do you think I went overboard?!" Kisha groaned. "Ugh... if only I hadn’t accidentally added two extra zeros before purchasing, I wouldn’t have bought one hundred thousand of detoxification pills... Why did I even buy this much? If I only knew how to make them myself!"
Her words tumbled out in a frantic rush as she felt her heart practically bleed at the thought of spending five billion on the pills. By the time she realized her mistake, the transaction was already complete.
The soles of her feet went cold, her scalp tingled, and she blinked repeatedly in disbelief. Refunding the excess was out of the question, and she didn’t even need this much right now, it felt like such a waste.
Still, she sent ten thousand of the pills to "The Rogue Blender" for now. If he needed more, he could ask, and she’d send them later. She deliberately didn’t send everything, hoping he’d renegotiate and ask for more.
Maybe she could get something in return, maybe even divine weapons or other treasures in the future. Only by thinking this way could she calm the heartbreak pounding in her chest and convince herself that her investment was worth it.
"Wifey, the food is ready... let’s eat?" Duke suddenly broke into Kisha’s swirling thoughts as he set the dishes in front of her. There was creamy mashed potatoes with blanched mixed vegetables, a perfectly seared ribeye steak, baked prawns topped with cheese, and a mild clam soup with tender mushrooms. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
The aroma alone made Kisha’s stomach rumble, and her racing thoughts immediately quieted as her attention shifted entirely to the food. Everything looked incredible, smelled divine, and knowing Duke’s culinary skills, she had no doubt it would taste even better.
Not long after, Duke sat beside her, handing her the utensils with a warm smile. He carefully removed the baked prawns from their shells, plated them neatly, and set them in front of her, making sure everything was just perfect.
"Wifey, you’ve been working so hard... eat more. You’re getting too thin," Duke said coaxingly as he served her food and soup. Kisha smiled sweetly at him, nodding before taking a sip of the clam soup. Her eyes immediately lit up.
"Delicious!" she exclaimed, delight dancing in her voice. She scooped up another spoonful and held it out to Duke, inviting him to taste. Without hesitation, he leaned in elegantly and took a sip. A satisfied smile spread across his lips, and he gently planted a peck on Kisha’s cheek, making her heart flutter.
"I’m glad my cooking earned praise from my wife. If you like it, eat more," Duke said cheerfully, his noble demeanor shining through as he began cutting Kisha’s steak with effortless elegance.
Every precise movement, every careful slice, reflected the impeccable table manners he had carried even before the apocalypse. Kisha found herself momentarily dazed, lost in the graceful rhythm of his hands, only snapping back when Duke handed her the steak, which was already cut into perfect bite-sized pieces, so she could focus on eating.
Only after finishing with her did he turn his attention to his own plate. Watching him like this, Kisha couldn’t help but smile widely. She took a bite of the steak, and the tender, juicy meat almost melted in her mouth.
Each bite was seasoned perfectly, making her instinctively reach for more, savoring every flavorful morsel.
Kisha and Duke enjoyed a peaceful meal together. They didn’t speak much during the meal, but the quiet comfort of each other’s presence was heartwarming, leaving them both feeling relaxed and at ease.
After they finished eating, Duke didn’t let Kisha lift a finger. He stood up and quickly tidied the kitchen, loading the dishes into the dishwasher and wiping down the counters and table until everything gleamed clean. Then, he heated the kettle on the stove and prepared a soothing tea for Kisha to aid her digestion.
Not long after, he served the tea, placing it in front of her just as she was still engrossed in conversation with "The Rogue Blender."
