My Amnesic Ex Married My Sister, So I Married His Uncle-Chapter 140: A Bit Similar
This Zion Shawcross and that Silas Jacobs, were they sent here to be the death of me?!
One was the man at the center of it all, the other was the company CEO, and both of them were infuriatingly relaxed, leaving him to worry himself sick.
Henry Wright threw his hands up.
’Screw it! I’m done!’
He stormed out in a huff. Just before the office door shut, he heard Silas Jacobs mutter from inside, "Why is he so short-tempered?"
"..."
’Fine, fine, fine. So I’m the one with the bad temper!’
Henry Wright stepped into the elevator, stared at the panel of floor buttons, and simply had no idea where to go.
He usually frequented the 27th and 28th floors.
Now...
Those two floors... each one was more of a headache than the other.
’Not a single one of them makes my life easy!’
As he was thinking, before he could even press a floor, the elevator began to descend on its own.
Henry Wright decided not to press anything. ’Might as well let fate decide,’ he thought.
He would go wherever the elevator took him.
The elevator ended up going to the first basement level. When the doors opened, a fully disguised Catherine Linden was standing outside.
’Another one here to cause me grief.’
Henry Wright nearly choked.
Catherine Linden, however, seemed to be in a great mood today.
The moment she saw Henry Wright, she took off her mask and walked to his side. "Hey, Henry, did you come all the way down here just to get me?"
Henry Wright forced a smile. "That’s right."
Catherine Linden didn’t seem to mind the perfunctory tone in his voice.
After all, it was easy to guess that he wasn’t in the best of moods right now.
She remembered how last month, when her career opportunities were under attack, Henry Wright had repeatedly told her, "You should learn from Zion Shawcross."
And now, look at that—Zion Shawcross was in her shoes.
Catherine Linden smiled sweetly. "Henry, you must be feeling terrible, right? That Zion Shawcross... he’s really something else. So immature, always making you worry."
Henry Wright shot her a sideways glance. "Are you just here to gloat?"
Catherine linked her arm through his. "Of course not! I was worried you’d make yourself sick with anger, so I came especially to keep you company. Henry, I can’t make it to the top without you. If you let Zion Shawcross stress you into poor health, I’ll be the first in line to settle the score with him."
Henry Wright didn’t say anything, but being soothed by Catherine Linden’s words did make him feel a little better.
Then, he remembered something. "By the way, about Director Gordon’s film—I’ve contacted the special forces unit in Jandor for you. You’ll go and train with them for a period of time. You know how much Director Gordon values these fundamental skills. We worked for a whole year to land this role, so you absolutely have to give it your all. Got it?"
Among the new generation of film directors, Cameron Gordon was famous for his mainstream, patriotic projects.
The film series he had directed previously was all about love for home and country.
The entire trilogy saw each film gross over 5 billion at the box office, making him one of the most prominent directors in the industry today.
This new film was another patriotic, mainstream production.
Catherine Linden was looking to transition her career, and this film was a perfect fit.
That was why Henry Wright had spent a whole year with her, going to great lengths to secure the female lead role from Cameron Gordon. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
The thought of how one wrong word from Catherine Linden had almost sent that entire year of effort down the drain still made Henry Wright’s heart flutter with anxiety.
He couldn’t help but warn her again, "From now on when you’re out, rein in your temper and think before you speak."
Catherine Linden seemed completely unconcerned, smiling sweetly. "I know, Henry. You know I listen to you more than anyone."
Henry Wright waved her away, wanting her to keep her distance. "I’d thank my lucky stars if you just stayed out of trouble."
"Hey, Henry, what’s really going on with Zion Shawcross? Who did he offend?"
Henry Wright didn’t answer, but in his heart, he knew it was definitely because of Kiana Sterling.
But he just couldn’t figure it out.
It was just a minor female lead in a music video. Why was one person so insistent on acting in it, while another was so insistent on not letting her?
Of course, Silas Jacobs was also behind the decision to not let her act.
He figured it was probably part of the complex feuds between the people at the top.
’I’m done with it. Done.’
’If Silas Jacobs said it’s nothing to worry about, then I’ll just have to trust him.’
He quickly pressed the button for the 27th floor. When the doors opened, he stepped out and walked into Zion Shawcross’s studio under Catherine Linden’s watchful gaze.
The atmosphere in the studio, however, seemed completely unaffected.
Zion Shawcross had a lot of work. Even though he had lost a few projects recently, the remaining workload was more than enough to keep the studio busy.
So when he arrived, the entire studio was operating in an orderly fashion.
The harmonious atmosphere only highlighted the fact that he was the only one freaking out.
Stella Sterling’s draft artwork had been delivered to the studio staff two days ago.
By the time Henry Wright arrived, a staff member had just finished preparing a preview of the cover.
"Henry, what do you think?"
Henry Wright walked over to take a look, and his eyes immediately lit up.
The staff member said, "Seriously, that artist Faye Rhodes recommended has some serious skills. The album cover alone is a work of art. I feel like if I saw it, I’d want to buy it. Even a die-hard freeloader would be compelled to save the image if they saw it online."
He had to agree.
The cover Stella Sterling had drawn had a black background, but it wasn’t pure black. Henry Wright couldn’t quite describe it—it was a black mixed with hints of blue and green. In the center was a white silhouette of Zion Shawcross, one hand raised in a wild, unrestrained pose, flinging a spray of brilliant light across the sky that looked like both fireworks and a nebula.
"Henry, when are we making the official announcement?"
Henry Wright looked around. "Zion Shawcross isn’t here today?"
"He came in, I think. He’s probably sleeping in the lounge."
Hearing this, Henry Wright felt a surge of anger.
’And just who did he think I’m running around for?!’
He was just about to go give him a piece of his mind when a staff member said, "Henry, about the announcement, there’s a problem. It seems Miss Umi doesn’t have a social media account."
Henry Wright was a little surprised.
’Who doesn’t have a social media account these days?’
"Have Faye Rhodes deal with it."
’She’ll definitely be happy to do it, anyway.’
"Also, the new music video. We need to get a move on."
Henry Wright scratched his head in frustration, then went to the lounge and hauled the soundly sleeping Zion Shawcross to his feet.
"What’s the final word on the female lead for the music video! Can’t we just use Kiana Sterling?"
Zion Shawcross woke up in a daze.
He wasn’t even angry about being disturbed from his sleep.
He brushed Henry Wright’s hand away. "Someone’s already been cast. You don’t have to worry about it."
When Henry Wright tried to ask again, Zion Shawcross just closed his eyes and ignored him.
...
「In mid-to-late August,」 two pieces of news were making waves in the art world.
First, a nominee for the Jason Will Painting Award was collaborating with the top-tier singer Zion Shawcross.
The official announcement revealed just a corner of the album cover, leaving fans dying of suspense.
The other piece of news was that Everlake Resort was about to have its soft opening, and a record-breaking piece by the popular artist Kiana Sterling would become the resort’s signature work of art.
The two events seemed completely unrelated.
In an unnoticed corner of the internet, someone cautiously posted a question: "Doesn’t anyone else think the art style on Zion Shawcross’s new album cover looks a little like that of the record-breaking artist?"
