The medics started checking his neck, but as they got close, they quickly jumped back. "Hot! He's boiling!" one medic shouted. They tried to find a wound, but Yin Zhe's skin was perfectly smooth. There wasn't even a scratch.

"How?! the medic thought. We saw the blade touch him!. His skin should be open! He is a real cultivation monster! A freak of nature!

Off to the other side of the stadium, Bao Zi was sitting on a bench, while waiting for his own name to be called. He had been closely watching everything. His eyes were wide, and he was chewing on his fingernails. (Nervous breathing...)

"Just a few days ago, Yin Zhe was at the 4th stage, it takes cultivators years to break through" Bao Zi thought, his head spinning. "He was just a guy we shared a cell with. Now he's fighting Stage 9 guys and winning without even trying? Is he seriously growing at the speed of a waterfall?"

Bao Zi looked at Yin Zhe in a whole new light. He's a genius. No, he's a prodigy. If you took away his shamelessness and his lying, he would be the greatest hero of our generation. But... Bao Zi shook his head. ...you can't take the shamelessness out of Yin Zhe. It's built into his bones.

Wu Tiao, the enforcer, had finally found his voice. "The winner is Yin Zhe!" he shouted, though he sounded like he wanted to cry from the stress. "Please... just go to the waiting room before you break my arena again."

Yin Zhe gave a polite, and fake bow. "Thank you, Judge. I shall go and pray for the recovery of my dear friend Gao Feng. Poor, misguided soul."

Yin Zhe walked off the arena floor, his footsteps leaving light charred marks on the stone floor. He followed an attendant through a long, dark stone tunnel that led to the private waiting rooms for the fighter. The air here was cooler, and the walls were lined with blue glowing crystals.

(Clack... clack...)

He reached a heavy wooden door. He went inside. (Click.) The room was small, with a single chair and a table. Finally, he was alone. The "victim" act dropped from his face instantly. He sat down on the chair and let out a massive breath of hot air.

"That was too close," he whispered. "I'm almost at the limit of my points."

He waved his hand in the air, and the glowing blue System Screen appeared once more, floating in the dim light of the room.

Yin Zhe decided to open his system screen

The stone waiting room was very quiet, except for the low hum of the blue spirit lamp embedded in the ceiling. Yin Zhe sat on a wooden stool, his body still giving off a faint, and sweltering heat. Inside his core, the Black Fire Seed was acting like a hungry parasite. It chewed at his spirit essence, sending sharp stabs of white-hot pain through his chest. (Hiss...)

"I'm burning up in here," Yin Zhe monologued, his face was

sweating. I'm out of those blue spirit pills. If I don't find a way to cool this fire down, I'm going to melt into a puddle before the next round starts. I need a skill. Something heavy. Something

that is as thick as Jade Skin but better.

He flicked his wrist, and the blue system screen snapped into existence in front of him. To anyone else, it looked like he was poking at thin air. In the corner of the room stood a young attendant named Xiao Hu. Xiao Hu was holding a tray of water, but he was currently frozen, staring at Yin Zhe with wide, and fearful eyes.

"What is wrong with this guy?" Xiao Hu monologued, his heart thumping against his ribs. "He's just... poking at the air. He's waving his fingers and talking to nobody. Is he possessed? Did that backstab from earlier scramble his brains? I'm stuck in a room with a red-skinned lunatic!"

Yin Zhe's system caught the kid's inner reaction easily.

"Let him watch," Yin Zhe thought sarcastically. "Maybe he'll learn something about how to be a winner."

Yin Zhe tapped the virtual shop. (Ping!) [Purchase: Golden Skill Ticket x10]

"I still have tons of points left, but I need a lucky draw," Yin Zhe monologued. He pulled up the Skill Slot Machine. It was a giant, visual box with a big lever on the side. It looked more like something from a bright casino.

"Okay, new location, new luck," Yin Zhe whispered. He stood up and walked to the far left corner of the room. "The waiting room is fresh. My luck should be fresh too. Let's go!"

He grabbed the invisible lever and pulled. (Clink-clink-clink!) The symbols on the screen spun in a blur of gold and red.

(Buzz!)

[Better luck next time]

"Tch. Warm-up round," Yin Zhe grumbled. (Sigh...) He moved to the center of the room and dropped into a deep squat, while holding his hands behind his head. "Maybe the system likes it when I'm closer to the floor. Lower center of gravity, higher luck. Pull!"

(Clink-clink-clink! Whirr!)

(Buzz!)

[Better luck next time]

"Are you kidding me?" Yin Zhe hissed. He looked at the system screen like he wanted to punch it. He stood on one leg, balancing like a crane, and pointed his finger at the ceiling. "I call upon the names of the greats! Odin! Zeus! Batman! Give me a break here!"

He pulled the lever again. (Clink-clink-clink!)

(Buzz!)

[Better luck next time]

Xiao Hu, the attendant, was now backed up against the door. "He's doing cultivation exercisenow?" Xiao Hu thought to himself, his face was pale. "Now he's shouting at the roof about bats and lightning gods." He's definitely lost it. He's a cultivation maniac who broke his mind. "I should run. I should definitely run."
