"You are a walking disgrace to the spirit palace," Lin Xue spat, her breath visible in the air as a puff of white vapor. "I heard rumors that you were a secret genius who hid his power. But all I see is a loud-mouthed peasant who doesn't know his place in the world. My Frost will silence that wagging tongue permanently."

"Disgrace? Ouch. That's the second time today I've heard that. You people need new insults," Yin Zhe sighed, while shaking his head with a look of mock disappointment. (Sigh...) He glanced over at Arena 01. Ren Tie had already started his match with Geng Hu. (BOOM! CRACK!) Ren Tie was mid-air, his fist glowing with the brown, heavy power of a falling peak as he smashed his opponent's heavy iron shield into a thousand splinters. Ren Tie glanced over toward Arena 02 for a split second, his face cold and focused, before returning to finish his opponent.

"Look at him, being all 'Mountain-y' and stoic," Yin Zhe thought sarcastically, while feeling the cold of the arena floor seeping through his jade skin. "I really need to work on my entrance. Maybe I should ask the system for some glitter or fireworks next time? This ice stuff is way too gloomy."

Yin Zhe turned back to Lin Xue. He leaned forward, while lowering his voice to a conspiratorial whisper that echoed in the quiet arena. "Between you and me, Lin Xue... you're way too pretty to be this angry all the time. You're going to get wrinkles. Early ones. Right here, right between the eyebrows. You'll end up looking like a little frozen prune by the time you're twenty."

Lin Xue's face turned a shade of red that clashed horribly with the blue frost swirling around her. Her Qi flared up, causing the wind in the arena to pick up speed. "I will cut your tongue out and freeze it!"

Enforcer Wu looked at the drum. Then He looked at Lin Xue's shaking, and angry hands. He looked at Yin Zhe, who was now calmly picking a tiny piece of invisible lint off his sleeve.

"I've had enough," Wu Tiao muttered under his breath, his eyes twitching. "I'm definitely not getting paid enough to listen to this brat talk for another second."

Lin Xue looked at the judge, her eyes pleading for the starting signal. She wanted to unleash the Whispering Snow. And She

also wanted to turn this arrogant, and loud-mouthed fool into a block of ice and then shatter him into a thousand tiny pieces for the crowd to see. Then She took a deep, and freezing breath, her Qi realm core essence swirling around her body like a miniature, violent blizzard.

"Judge," she hissed through clenched teeth. "Start it. Now. Before I kill him outside the rules."

Yin Zhe blinked innocently, his eyes wide. "Wait, wait! I haven't even finished my opening speech! I was just getting to the part about my tragic childhood, and why I crave the attention of beautiful women"

Wu Tiao didn't let him finish. He grabbed the wooden mallet and swung it with a literal vengeance.

(BONG!!!)

The drum sounded like a death knell in the cold air.

Lin Xue's face instantly transformed. The red anger vanished, and replaced by a cold, and predatory, and satisfied smile. She raised the Whispering Snow Sword high, and a massive wave of freezing, white mist exploded from the blade, rushing across the sand toward Yin Zhe's feet like a hungry tide. (Fssssssss!) "Freeze in your tracks, fool," she whispered. 🍷

The white wave of frost surged across the sand with a violent, and hungry energy, while hissing like a thousand angry vipers that were waking up from a winter sleep. (Fssssssss!) The sound was sharp, and almost like glass being ground into powder. Yin Zhe didn't move an inch until the very last millisecond, he was just standing there with a lazy, and bored expression that made the front-row spectators lean themselves forward in their seats. Just as the ice was about to lick the soles of his leather boots and lock him to the ground, Yin Zhe twisted his hips and quickly hopped to the side with a nimble, cat-like grace that looked entirely too casual for a life-or-death struggle. The spot where he had been standing had turned into a jagged patch of thick blue ice instantly, the stone beneath it was frozen solid.

"Whoa! Watch the shoes, lady! Do you have any idea how hard it is to get blood and frost out of this fabric? These are limited edition!" Yin Zhe yelped, though his dark eyes remained sharp and calculating, while darting around to map the arena's boundaries. He didn't even wait for her to reset her stance. Using his strength from [Iron Might] which was always on and activating [Muay Thai Warrior] at the same time. His muscles corded under his skin, while becoming as hard as cold-forged steel, and his stance shifted into something much more dangerous. He was low, balanced, and ready to explode. He lunged forward, with his lead foot digging deep into the sand with a heavy thud. (Thump!)

Lin Xue didn't even panic. She was a Qi Realm cultivator; and her senses were significantly higher than those of a normal human or a low-level Root Awakening practitioner. She saw the "peasant" rushing her with raw, and unrefined physical strength, and she curled her thin lip in a look of pure, aristocratic disgust. "Brute force is for the animals in the forest, Yin Zhe. A true noble fights with the elegance of the elements." She didn't bother to block his path. Instead, she instantly swung the Whispering Snow Sword in a graceful, and vertical circle, creating a shimmering ring of spinning ice particles in front of her.

Yin Zhe threw a massive right cross, his fist whistling through the air with enough raw power to crack a mountain boulder. (WHOOSH!) But as his fist entered the ring of frost, his arm suddenly felt like it was moving through a vat of thick, and frozen honey. The extreme, and unnatural cold was literally sapping the kinetic energy and heat out of his strike before it could even land.

"What the?" Yin Zhe muttered, while his arm was feeling heavy and numb.
