My Borderline Supervillain-Slash-Hero System-Chapter 86 Introduction to Godly Hands of Mana
Chapter 86: Chapter 86 Introduction to Godly Hands of Mana
The moment Shelby’s head hit the pillow, he began snoring.
"Not even three minutes," Zane muttered with a faint smile. "This guy’s too healthy."
But his smile faded as he looked down at his hands. His fingers clenched slightly.
"Still... I’ve got to try. I will create a Law of my own. Never know when I’ll meet someone like that masked lady again."
He wasn’t ready to sleep. Not after everything that happened tonight.
Sitting cross-legged on the bed, Zane closed his eyes and began to meditate, letting his breath slow and steady. His mind drifted back—Shelby’s words ringing in his ears:
"Start small. Observe nature. Understand it. Then apply your mana accordingly. That’s your first step."
"Alright," he whispered. "Let’s start with my mana."
He sank deeper into focus.
He recalled the night he drank with Heron, the mysterious old man who might’ve been far more than he let on. The next morning—how everything had changed. How his body began to feel mana, as if it were part of him.
He retraced each memory—his earliest mana use, the awkward start, and how it slowly became instinctive.
But soon, he hit a wall.
"This isn’t enough," he muttered.
He opened his eyes and called out the only help he could trust now. "System, what is my mana affinity?"
Ding!
[Host’s Current Mana Affinities are: Light Elemental and Darkness Elemental.]
[If the Host’s goal is to create a Law, it is advised to choose one affinity to start with.]
Zane stared into the darkness of the suite.
"Light it is," he said after a pause.
He sank back into his thoughts, now focusing only on everything he knew about light. Lessons from the Pre-Academy. Science classes. The library books he used to sneak-read late at night.
In his mind, he began constructing the image of light—not just its glow, but what made it. Its speed. Its nature. Its duality as a wave and particle. How it illuminated but also burned. How it could reflect, refract, and bend under the right conditions.
Then a thought surfaced. Something simple. Something ancient.
"The primary source of light on Earth is the Sun."
He followed the trail.
"The Sun... a massive sphere of plasma. A furnace of constant nuclear fusion. Hydrogen atoms smashing together, becoming helium, releasing pure energy."
His eyes slowly opened, glinting with focus.
"I’m going big. Not small," he said with finality. "I don’t want to control mere light. I want to build a Law around the Sun itself. But first..."
He paused and thought aloud.
"To create a miniature sun, I’ll need to make my mana radioactive... Can I do that?"
He turned to the one thing that might know.
"System?"
Ding!
[You can. It’s a brilliant idea.]
[However, it’s easier said than done. To infuse radiation properties, the Host must learn to manipulate mana at a microscopic level. Failure to do so correctly may result in spontaneous mana detonation.]
Zane frowned. That was no joke.
"If I were to turn my mana radioactive... would it affect my health?"
He asked seriously. Radiation wasn’t something to mess with—whether magical or not.
Ding!
[Analyzing Host’s Physiology...]
A few moments passed in silence.
Ding!
[For most Awakeners, harnessing radioactive mana would be extremely dangerous. However, this does not apply to you.]
[Your body has been completely reconstructed by the SEED hidden inside you. You possess an evolved body—both inside and out.]
The word struck him again.
SEED.
The same mysterious power he had heard only whispers about. He’d felt it stir during moments of crisis, but never fully understood it.
He frowned. "I still don’t know what the SEED is... and the System refuses to tell me anything."
No answers. No leads. Just another mystery buried under layers of power.
He sighed and shelved the thought. Not tonight.
Instead, he focused back on his original goal. "Alright. If I want to turn my mana radioactive, I first need to master control at the microscopic level. If I fail... I explode." He cracked a grin. "Good. I like to ride against the tide."
The grin faded quickly.
"Problem is—I don’t even know where to start."
He called again, "System, I don’t know how to handle mana on that level. Can you help?"
[Analyzing...]
Minutes passed. The silence was suffocating. Then—
Ding!
[A special technique is available.]
[Technique Name: Introduction to Godly Hands of Mana]
[Grade: SSS-Rank]
[Note: Not available for purchase. Host may rent for one (1) day using ten (10) Five-Star Beast Mana Cores.]
Zane blinked. "Ten five-star cores? I’ve seen stars in my own core, but... I never noticed them on Beast Mana Cores before."
He turned back to the System. "System—"
[Currently analyzing technique. Do not interrupt with trivial questions. Ask your friend.]
Zane chuckled. "Sometimes I think you’re not an AI... you’re just a lazy, moody sentient being."
With the System silent, he turned to the couch—and the man snoring louder than thunderclouds.
He stomped toward Shelby and kicked him. "Shelby!"
The man bolted upright. "What—?! Are we under attack?!"
Zane grinned innocently. "Nah. But I need to know how to read the star ratings of Beast Mana Cores."
Shelby glared at him like he was ready to throw him through a wall. "You... You absolute menace."
"Hey, you were snoring like you were being exorcised."
"Zane..."
"I thought you were having a nightmare, man. Don’t blame me for caring."
Shelby groaned, covered his face with one hand, and waved the other. "Whatever. Use your mana. Infuse a small amount into your eyes. That’ll reveal the star ratings."
"Got it."
"And Zane..."
"Yeah?"
"If you wake me one more time, I will personally toss your body into the middle of the Atlantic Ocean."
Shelby flopped back and resumed snoring in seconds.
Zane rolled his eyes. "Guy sleeps like a log..."
He pulled out the silk pouch and poured the Beast Mana Cores onto the bed. A small, glittering pile formed in front of him.
Closing his eyes briefly, he focused his mana into his pupils. A soft warmth spread into his eyes.
When he opened them again—tiny glowing stars began to shimmer within the stones.
"One star... two stars... three..."
The inspection began. Time passed. He sorted and sifted, checking one core after another.
Most were low-tier. A few had four stars. And after nearly half an hour—finally, he found it.
His first five-star Mana Core.
Zane’s eyes gleamed.
"Let’s go."
He kept hunting.
After another patient hour, he finally gathered ten five-star cores. Surprisingly, he even found four six-star stones, and two rare seven-star ones.
"These are probably insanely valuable..."
He held the ten five-star stones in both hands.
"System," he said clearly, "I’m ready. I want to rent the technique."
Ding!
[Accepted.]
The ten stones vanished from his palms in a shimmer of light.
[Activating: Introduction to Godly Hands of Mana...]
[Activation: Successful.]
Suddenly, the world around him faded.
His vision blurred—then collapsed into blackness.
