My CEO Boss Is A Masked Internet Sensation-Chapter 165: Why Was He Sad?
Chapter 165: Why Was He Sad?
(Arata)
Mom and Baba weren’t able to come since they had their winter launch on the same day as our Winter Gala. Baba apologised, but I told him it was no issue; their work was important.
Baba ensured I didn’t feel alone so Zaylen and Stella were arriving on the night of the 14th December.
But that meant I needed to move back to my apartment. As much as I was against the idea of living with him, it had turned out to be one the most joyous and enjoyable days of my life.
In short, I didn’t wish to leave but I had to for a few days when my brother and best friend were going to be here.
Just as we arrived in his office, I decided to speak to him about it.
He tensed at my words and frantically asked.
"Return?" His eyes took a mist of grief as if I was permanently leaving him.
My snowman had begun to portray emotions so openly in front of me.
"Yes!" I replied, sadly. I guessed the feeling was mutual.
He mumbled about taking me there himself after office hours and suddenly grabbed me with a fervour need.
His hands burnt my skin as he stared at me with a faint glow of sadness. My hands landed on his hardened face.
Without warning, he claimed my lips as if I was forever departing from him; lowering me backwards, he deepened the kiss, letting me feel his need.
I grabbed the front of his shirt and pulled him onto me, our lips remained locked and tongues tangled.
The place between my legs began to instantly ache.
Who were we trying to fool?
Recently, every time we came into contact we would end up kissing. The past few days had been too damn busy, but still, he tried to have me in his arms any moment he would get or any excuse he would find.
Miranda’s request to enter the office finally had us pausing and he annoyedly pulled his lips away. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
Poor Miranda was going to be in trouble.
Breathlessly, we panted against each other before we separated, and he permitted Miranda to come inside.
I took a step back, adjusting my blazer and hair. Heat creeping up on my cheeks.
"Sir, we need your signatures." She strode forward with a file and Karsten moved towards his desk.
Our eyes feverishly met again, the air sizzled with how hot and intense his gaze was on me.
The urge to just stroll over and continue what was interrupted rooted inside my heart.
No, I had to leave and clear my head. This situation was becoming unmanageable for me.
I had no clue where his fake self ended and real began and I was getting tired of deciphering it.
I took that as an opportunity to escape; the more I was going to stay in his proximity, the more difficult it was going to become to resist him.
I headed to the practice hall and buried myself in the final rehearsal. That was the only distraction I had to keep myself busy and not let my mind drift to him.
Sadly, it didn’t work and I couldn’t wait to see him again.
Once the office hours ended, my heart sped up its beating pace. My body ached to be in his proximity. When he arrived to fetch me from the hall, I couldn’t keep my eyes off him.
"Ready?" He asked softly, as usual, placing his arm behind my back, and I offered a small nod.
He wrapped my long winter coat around me, helping me stay warm.
We began descending the stairs and Karsten said.
"Let Caysir know whatever you need and he will bring it for you. I recently had your apartment clean so you won’t have to worry about that."
Of course! He was always so thoughtful.
"Will do."
Silence prevailed after that but my heart refused to slow down or my eyes to not steal glances.
We arrived in the parking area, and as usual, he helped me settle in before we sped away.
Karsten was quieter than usual. His slender fingers drummed against his knee as he stared out the window like a model posing for a photograph.
My stupid heart just wanted to stare.
I stole a quick look at his watch and a quote flashed, informing me of his mood.
"When the heart gets too heavy with pain, people don’t cry, they just become quiet."
Was he really that sad? His watch revealed his inner mood and my hand couldn’t help but reach out and touch his arm.
"Everything good with you?"
"Yes, just thinking about the event. It’s so close and I hope for it to go smoothly." His jaw didn’t relax, this was not the only thought in his mind. It shouldn’t make him sad, which his watch revealed he was.
"It will be epic. You don’t have to worry." I squeezed his arm and he nodded, turning his head away.
Outside, the world had been blanketed by the colours of winter. The trees had shed their leaves while people roamed around in large fur coats, mufflers and mittens.
Hot drinks were being amply consumed. I craved some soup and decided to make it once I got to my apartment.
As the car stopped outside my building, Karsten asked Caysir to take a sweep first. Once he gave the green signal, only then Karsten helped me climb down the car.
I could sense his tenseness, his eyes scanned in all directions as if searching for anyone out of place.
The chilly December wind hit me and I wrapped my coat tighter around my body.
Until we had reached inside, Karsten didn’t relax. Caysir fetched my luggage.
Soon, we arrived at our apartment, and I opened the door using my key card.
"Let me check first." Karsten went inside to take a look, once he was satisfied, he let me enter.
"Come."
The faint smell of bamboo and pine welcomed me. The air purifiers I used. The place seemed impeccably clean but seemed foreign and haunting.
Somehow I didn’t want to stay here.
Taking off my long coat, I threw it on the sofa along with my muffler and turned the heat on.
My face must have revealed my inner thoughts because Karsten’s massive figure blocked my view as he said.
"Having second thoughts?"
