Chapter 167: From Morning To Good Morning

(Arata)

First brandy and now soup, Karsten was taking this to the next level. I wouldn’t lie, but these were the experiences missing from my life. And with every intimate action of his, Karsten made me fall deeper for him.

Slowly, the hot soup trickled down my throat, mixed with his taste, it was heavenly.

"Even more delicious from your mouth, Blue Rose." Karsten winked as he pulled slightly back, stroking my cheek with the rough surface of his thumb.

Every part of me burned, and I wanted to jump into his lap. The way his inky eyes raked over me, had heat pumping through my body.

I didn’t need any damn soup or warm clothes, his heated gaze was enough.

Will he flatten me against the table if I just claim his desirable lips?

The perverted questions circled my head.

’Don’t. Behave.’ I had to remind myself and nip these urges.

Why did he have such a magical mouth?

Never had I lost control like that in front of a man.

"At least there are some benefits to having me as your fake girlfriend." I painfully smiled, and his forehead developed a single wrinkle.

Did he pick up my edgy tone?

"There are not a few but a lot. Eat now, or do you want me to feed you the whole soup with my mouth?" He teased, and I quickly picked up my spoon.

Karsten tactfully shifted the conversation to the Winter Gala while we finished our soup.

"Maximum media exposure will be beneficial in attracting new investors as well as clients. The world has totally digitalised," I added while sipping the thick liquid.

"Yes, I have informed the marketing team to be on their A-game for this event. Every media house has been invited and you are going to be our new face for the winter." Karsten drummed his long fingers on the table, and a satisfied smile remained on his face.

The idea slightly terrified me as well, I wasn’t exactly the model type.

What if they hated me and it brought a negative image to the company?

"Hopefully they won’t dice me too much," I jokingly said, devouring the last of my soup.

"They will love you, Arata. Just see."

Both of us finished the soup and I got up to clear the dishes. He insisted on helping me with them, although there weren’t many.

"I will manage."

"It’s no big deal. Believe it or not, my Ma made me do all the housework. Cooking, cleaning, washing dishes," he explained with a nostalgic smile while soaping the bowl of soup.

I squeezed the sponge to make more bubbles pop out of it and heartily laughed as images of Karsten with a broom sprung into my brain.

"The mighty CEO handling a broom seems like an absurd image now," I teased, shoving him with my elbow.

"Yeah! Ma kept me humbled. Still do." He collected a bubble on his index finger and gently placed it on my nose.

I laughed heartily at his action while he offered me his rarest of smiles.

"Mothers do that. Essential for our growth."

Between our fun dishwashing and heart-to-heart talks, we completed the task.

As Karsten dried his hands with the towel the dread of staying alone began to fall over me, and the smile on my face disappeared. I knew Karsten would be leaving and heading back to his villa.

Seeing me become quiet, Karsten walked over to me and took my hand in his.

"What is it?" His thumb softly pressed the back of my hand.

I must look so pathetic, my heart filled with fear of being alone or of not being near him. Tears threatened to build up in my eyes.

"Don’t go," I implored so pitifully.

Damn, what was wrong with me? What must he be thinking? That I was turning into a crybaby. This was so unlike me.

Such a beautiful smile graced his cupid-shaped lips at my request. The smile that brought down all my defences. A girl could resist and fake it to a limit, and I had reached mine.

"I wasn’t planning to." A heavy burden seemed to have been lifted from my heart, and I wanted to hug him in relief.

He quietly guided me towards the lounger and helped me settle down. Placing his big, burly arm around my shoulder, Karsten kept me close. The man radiated heat like a furnace. I wouldn’t even need a blanket while close to him.

"Come, let’s watch a movie together. How about a romcom?"

Yeah, add fuel to the fire.

"No, let’s watch an action movie. I want to be lost..." I requested. Snuggling into his chest, my arms went around his waist. I wanted to sponge as much of his affections as I could before this dream-like reality would crash down.

"Here we go." Karsten grabbed the remote and put on an action movie.

I couldn’t focus; I tried but miserably failed.

All I could feel and focus on was the sensation of his body against mine.

The gentle movement of his hand against my arm.

He had this habit of rubbing my arm as if trying to relax me and it always worked like a perfect lullaby. My eyes began to close and soon I drifted off.

Once I woke up when he shifted me into the bed and slipped in beside me, keeping me warm under the quilt.

"Hmmm," I sleepily purred, snuggling against his warm body.

"Sleep, beautiful..."

I don’t know when he left the bed after this whisper because I woke up alone, disappointed, down to my core.

Hurtling the quilt away I scrambled out of bed and headed to the bathroom. I needed to pee so bad, all that soup last night.

Once I had freshened up and changed, I left my room and was welcomed by the aromatic smell of cappuccino and freshly baked croissants.

Karsten was sitting at the table with his legs crossed, sipping on his coffee and going through his phone. It must have been buzzing because we had the Winter Gala coming up the next day.

Fresh and impeccably dressed in his office attire, the man was a perfection. My poor heart took a dive and my chest ached. The urge to just rush to him and hug his figure teased every nerve fibre.

I had to clench my fists so my hands would remain by my side and not wander off to him.

His head slightly raised and his warm eyes found me.

"Good morning! Did you sleep well?" He tenderly asked, placing his phone down.

The morning had slowly transitioned into a good morning.

"Good morning! Yeah, I did." My gaze wandered to the assortment of food he had ordered. "You ordered breakfast?" I moved ahead and settled down in the chair.

"Yes, dive in. It’s still warm." He pointed and I settled down to eat.

Every now and then he checked with his side eye if I was eating enough like a caring boyfriend.

If only, this was a reality and not an illusion which was going to break soon.

Now I wasn’t even sure if my heart could handle the pain.

With heaviness settled in my heart, I cleared the table after I had finished eating.

We headed to the office with Caysir.

On the way, I texted Zaylen asking him when they were expected to arrive so I could be home on time.

His message came instantly.

{6 pm, we will be there. We will fetch food from the way so don’t worry about it. I know you are busy with the event.}

I smiled at my brother’s gesture.

{Alright, I will send Caysir to pick you guys up. See you soon.}

I turned to face Karsten as I dropped my phone into my handbag.

"Today, I will have to leave work at 5:30 pm." We had been burning the midnight oil, so we went home quite late these days.

Karsten slightly tensed beside me before turning and saying. His features had hardened yet again.

"Caysir will take you home." I offered him a nod and turned around to stare out at the city.

The digital billboard in front showcased the advertisement for our Winter Gala. It warmed my heart to see it.

We arrived at the office and Karsten took the flight of steps with me. The man was fit as a fiddle, and he didn’t even break a sweat.

Dropping me at the practice hall he leaned down to place a soft kiss on my cheek before saying.

"I have a meeting but I will catch you later."

I smiled as he left.

The rest of my day passed in a blur of last-minute rehearsals and ensuring the whole event was going to go as planned.

Karsten joined us for the rehearsals.

By 5:30 pm, I knew I had to head out. Karsten was extremely busy, surrounded by so many people as preparations were being made.

Quietly, I left the hall to head home; I had hardly climbed down the first fleet of stairs when someone snatched my arm and pinned me against the wall.

"You were leaving without a goodbye." His sultry voice made a tantalising shudder run down my spine.
