My CEO Ex: Let Me Go.-Chapter 14
I quickly shut my eyes, pretending to be asleep.
I kept repeating in my mind, I can’t see him, I can’t see him, I can’t see him. But my body trembled slightly, betraying my emotions.
His footsteps drew closer.
He walked toward the bed.
My heart raced, nearly leaping into my throat.
Suddenly, a cold sensation swept over me as the blanket was lifted.
I froze in fear, keeping my eyes tightly shut, my legs stiffened, desperately telling myself, I’m sleeping, I’m sleeping. As long as I didn’t see his face, he wouldn’t hurt me.
“I know you’re awake. Open your eyes and look at me, or I’ll make you suffer before killing you,” he whispered in my ear.
My mind went blank, and the terror made me open my eyes. My voice trembled as I said, “If I open my eyes, please don’t kill me... please don’t kill...”
Before I could finish, I saw his face clearly.
It was none other than Alexander.
My expression stiffened—a mix of fear, confusion, and a little embarrassment.
I had forgotten that Alexander was still at home, and the villa’s security was so tight. How could a bad person break in?
I turned my head, blinking, and asked, “How did you get here?” 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
“The thunder outside,” he replied coolly. “I was worried you might not be able to sleep.”
I frowned slightly. So, that’s why he was here. I had never imagined that Director Vivienne, such a strong person, would be afraid of thunder.
“I’m not having trouble sleeping,” I responded coldly.
“Oh? Really?” He didn’t seem to believe me.
“Really,” I insisted.
“Then, should I leave?” He pretended to stand up.
I froze for a moment, opening my mouth but saying nothing.
I turned over, muttering softly, “Go if you want.”
His footsteps sounded as he left the room, and the door opening and closing made my heart feel empty.
He really left.
My eyes began to sting, and my nose tingled with the threat of tears.
I wrinkled my nose in frustration. I knew it—Alexander was just going through the motions with me, offering me hope only to crush it.
If that’s the case, why did he come here at all? To give me hope and then disappoint me?
That’s always how Alexander had been.
“Didn’t you want me to leave? Then why are you crying?” His voice appeared in my ear again.
I froze, quickly turning over, only to find Alexander still standing by the bed.
“You... you didn’t leave?”
“No,” he answered calmly, sitting on the bed beside me. He reached out and patted my shoulder. “Alright, sleep. I’ll stay here with you. I’ll leave once you’re asleep.”
I grumbled a soft hum in response.
Alexander, why do you do this?
First cold, then gentle. You know this gentleness is like poison, seeping into my bones, yet I can’t bear to push you away.
I fell into a deep sleep.
The next morning, I woke up to find Alexander gone. The windows and doors were tightly shut, as though he had never been there.
I got up, washed up, had breakfast, and headed to the company. After a busy morning, I went to the photography studio in the afternoon.
After a full day of work, the shooting progressed quickly, and Isabella also settled into the rhythm.
During a break, Ariana showed me some photos taken that day.
Once the set was ready, we continued shooting.
Under the spotlight, Isabella’s makeup and styling were flawless—truly breathtaking. Even I was stunned by how beautiful she looked.
Once the shoot was over, everyone began to wrap up.
I walked over to join Ariana and review the photos on the camera.
Isabella approached as well.
Eliza shouted loudly, “Isabella, look who’s here!”
Isabella looked up and excitedly exclaimed, “Alexander!”
Alexander strode over but suddenly his expression changed. “Watch out!”
I barely had time to lift my head when I felt a strong shove.
“Bang!”
A nearby rack fell to the ground with a loud crash.
I tumbled to the floor, my ankle throbbing with sharp pain, as though my bone had been twisted mercilessly.
“Are you hurt?” Alexander hurriedly pulled Isabella into his arms, his concern evident.
“Alexander, you scared me to death. If you hadn’t pulled me in time, I would’ve been crushed,” Isabella clung tightly to Alexander, her face full of panic.
“That was too close. The rack was just a few centimeters away from you. Luckily, CEO Hawthorne reacted quickly.” Eliza rushed forward, adding, “We’re so thankful. If it weren’t for CEO Hawthorne, Isabella would have been injured.”
The scene before me pierced my heart.
I felt ice-cold all over, and even the pain in my ankle seemed insignificant now.
In his eyes, there was only Isabella. He could only see her.
What broke me wasn’t his concern for Isabella, but the shove—
That shove had sent me into danger. He didn’t care about me at all.
He only cared for Isabella, even if it meant I had to suffer, even die for her.
But, Alexander, if you care for Isabella so much, then why did you come last night?
Why, every time my wounds are nearly healed, do you stab me in the heart again?
“Vivienne, are you okay?” Ariana quickly set the camera down and supported me.
The intense pain in my ankle made it impossible for me to move, and a dull ache spread across my abdomen.
I felt it getting worse and clutched Ariana’s hand, struggling to speak. “Ariana, take me to the hospital!”
Only then did Alexander notice me, his face changing dramatically. He immediately bent down and lifted me into his arms. “Vivienne, what’s wrong? I’ll take you to the hospital.”
At this moment, I could hardly think clearly. I weakly grabbed his arm, whispering, “Hurry!”
The pain in my abdomen grew more intense, twisting my face in agony.
My baby! I have to save my baby!
Alexander rushed me into the car, shouting at James, “Quick!”
"To the nearest hospital!"
James immediately started the car.
I leaned into Alexander’s arms, my consciousness slowly slipping away.
He anxiously whispered in my ear, "Vivienne? Vivienne, don’t sleep. We’ll be at the hospital soon."
"Mmm," I mumbled in response, trying to endure the pain.
By the time I was rushed into the emergency room, I was almost unconscious. Weakly, I told the doctor, "Doctor, please save my baby. Please, you have to save my baby."
"Don’t worry, we’ll do everything we can."
The doctor’s words gave me a bit of relief, but I urgently added, "The man outside is my ex-husband. Please don’t tell him I’m pregnant."
The doctor looked surprised.
So, the man outside was so concerned, yet they were already divorced?
Respecting patient privacy, the doctor naturally kept the secret.
But why did that man look so familiar?
