My Childhood Bully is a Mafia Boss-Chapter 85
Aidan
I rushed to the hospital as soon as Ryan told me Ellie was going into labor right in front of that damned Giovanni. Fuck...I never should’ve let her go see him.
Ivy grabbed my hand and squeezed it, so I looked at her. Her eyes were wide with worry, mirroring my own.
"Ellie is going to be okay, Aidan. Don’t worry," she said in an attempt to comfort me.
I nodded but didn’t say anything.
The drive to the hospital felt like an eternity, my mind racing with worry for Ellie. I couldn’t shake the image of her in pain, with that smug bastard Giovanni standing over her. The thought of him witnessing such a vulnerable moment made my blood boil.
As we pulled up to the hospital, I barely waited for the car to stop before jumping out. Ivy followed closely, her hand still tightly holding mine. We rushed through the sliding doors and straight to the front desk.
"Ellie Blackwood," I said urgently to the nurse behind the counter. "She was brought in a few minutes ago. She’s in labor."
The nurse nodded, quickly scanning her computer. "Room 304," she replied, pointing us in the right direction. "Follow the signs for maternity."
We hurried down the hallway, my heart pounding in my chest. Ivy kept pace beside me, her presence a small comfort amidst the chaos.
When we finally reached the room, I was greeted by an unexpected scene.
There he was, the notorious Giovanni Leones. In his hands, he held a small bundle wrapped in a blanket, which I could only assume was Ellie’s baby.
"Giovanni!" I roared.
Giovanni’s head shot up, and his black eyes locked in mine. "Hush, Blackwood. You will wake up the baby."
I blinked in confusion.
I blinked in confusion, the adrenaline of the drive and the chaos of the situation crashing to a halt. My eyes darted around the room, searching for Ellie. But she wasn’t there.
Ivy gripped my arm tightly, her eyes wide with shock. "Aidan," she whispered, pulling me back to the present moment.
"What the hell are you doing with my niece?" I demanded, my voice a harsh whisper as I stepped closer.
Giovanni’s expression was unexpectedly gentle as he looked down at the infant in his arms. "Holding her."
"Why?" I asked.
"Because babies need to be held. It’s science. Something about needing skin-to-skin contact, etcetera, etcetera. I read it in Google," Giovanni said dryly.
The absurdity of the situation momentarily stunned me into silence. Giovanni Leones, my enemy, standing in a hospital room cradling a newborn and citing Google as his source for childcare advice.
I took a deep breath, trying to calm the raging storm inside me. "Where is Ellie?" I asked, my voice still tense.
Giovanni nodded towards a door at the side of the room. "She’s in there. The nurses are taking care of her because she passed out. But don’t worry, she is stable. She was just dehydrated. Didn’t you give your sister water at your house, Blackwood?"
I glanced at Ivy, who was still holding onto my arm. Her expression was nothing short of amusement. Reluctantly, she moved toward Giovanni.
"Can I hold her?" she asked, extending her arms.
Giovanni hesitated for a moment before carefully placing the baby into her arms.
As soon as she held her, Ivy’s face softened with awe and tenderness. The baby gurgled softly, her tiny fists waving in the air.
"She’s so beautiful," Ivy whispered, her eyes misting over as she gazed down at the newborn.
I stepped closer, my heart finally starting to calm as I looked at the baby. She had pitch-black hair and big brown eyes with a hint of green in them.
"She is quite beautiful. Hopefully, she won’t have her father’s ugly mug when she grows up. I’d rather not have my daughter grow up looking like that Russian sleazebag," Giovanni declared.
I slowly turned to him. "Excuse me. Did you say your daughter?"
Giovanni shook his head vigorously, a grin spreading across his face. "Si. I...may have accidentally signed the birth certificate."
What the actual fuck!?
Ivy’s eyes widened, and she instinctively tightened her hold on the baby. "What do you mean, accidentally?" she asked, her voice a mix of incredulity and disbelief.
Giovanni shrugged nonchalantly, the grin still plastered on his face. "When Ellie was being rushed in, there was a lot of confusion. The nurses asked me to fill out some forms, and I...well, I might have put my name down as the father." He glanced at me, his expression oddly proud. "So, it seems I am now officially the father of this beautiful bambina."
I was speechless, my anger momentarily eclipsed by sheer shock. "You...you can’t just do that," I stammered. "That’s not how it works!"
Giovanni raised an eyebrow, his demeanor suddenly serious. "Relax, Blackwood."
"Don’t tell me to relax, asshole!" I growled. "Get the doctor in here and fix this mess right now!"
But Giovanni dismissed my anger with a dismissive wave of his hand. "Why the fuss, Blackwood? The deed is done. And let’s be honest, I’m a far more respectable figure than that pitiful excuse for a father Slava could’ve been."
I stood dumbfounded, staring at his nonchalant posture as he leaned against the wall with his arms crossed over his chest. I had half a mind to punch that smug grin off his face. But I knew better than to start a fight in the hospital.
"Respectable?" I repeated incredulously. "Giovanni, your history of trouble is longer than your family’s lineage!"
He snorted at this, still looking oddly amused by the whole situation. "At least I am here, Blackwood. I didn’t choose the fatherhood. The fatherhood chose me."
Okay, I definitely should punch him.
"Aidan, don’t," Ivy warned me as if she could read my mind.
It was at this point that the doctor finally arrived. He clearly had no idea about the chaos he was walking into.
"Is everything okay in here?" he asked, glancing between Giovanni and me.
"No," I spat out before Giovanni could respond. "There has been a mistake. This man is not the father."
"Sure I am," Giovanni interrupted, standing in front of me. "How is the mother doing?"
"Yes, is Ellie awake?" Ivy asked anxiously as she slowly cradled the baby girl.
The doctor looked between Giovanni and me, clearly perplexed by the tension in the room. "Ellie is stable and awake," he said, addressing Ivy. "She did very well considering the circumstances. She’ll need to stay hydrated and get some rest. She is requesting to see the baby now."
"Yes, of course. Let’s go," Ivy said, following the doctor.
Giovanni nodded before he turned his attention back to me. "See, Blackwood? Everything is fine."
"No, everything is not fine," I shot back, stepping closer to Giovanni. "You need to get your name off that birth certificate. Because once Ellie finds out what you did, even I wouldn’t be able to save you from her."
