Side Story 56. Raven Company (2)

When I teleported to my office at the headquarters with Titan, Titan’s complexion was poor as if he had bad motion sickness. It was said that most people feel severe motion sickness if they were not used to teleportation. But I don’t know since I have never had it from the beginning.

"Get some rest. Eat this."

I took the motion sickness medicine from pocket space and handed it to Titan. He quickly grabbed the medicine and swallowed it. "I’ll, ugh!"

"Just sit down and rest instead of throwing up on the floor. But if you're going to throw up, go to the bathroom and do it."

"Yes, Hyung-nim, ugh!”

I left behind a pale Titan and exited the office.

Shall I go see my silly nephew?

"Ohh, you're here? It's been a long time since you came to work."

Caesar was sitting in the secretary's seat outside the office and working as he waved at me.

The side effects of the Crow’s martial arts made him look like his age. And since he looked like he was in his late 30s like the first time I saw him, it seemed like he hadn’t aged much.

"Things run well without me now," I said.

"But instead, Arwen is busy filling her teacher's position. She keeps whining that she doesn't have time to research magic. It's not so pleasant to hear, so please come back to the front line," he complained.

I shrugged and mouthed an excuse, "This is all a lesson to learn how to put the right person in the right position."

Caesar laughed cheerfully. "Ahahaha! Isn’t it just because you’re lazy?"

That's correct. If Arwen was having a hard time, I would have to ask my great-grandmother, who's fooling around with my great-grandfather at home, to share the burden.

"As expected, you know me because we've known each other for so long. So I heard that there was a guest who came to see me," I said.

Caesar shrugged. "Asus took him to the reception room."

"Oh no, I should go quickly before she makes trouble.“

I headed straight to the reception room. As I entered, Asus greeted me, her white wings flapping.

"You're here, President-nim! Have you eaten yet?"

Fortunately, seeing that the reception room was intact, it seemed I had gotten here before she caused an accident.

"No, not yet. Can you bring some tea and refreshments? For two."

"Yes! Understood!" she replied cheerily.

I glanced at her, and sat at the head seat. Fortunately, there was no sign of a fight.

Asus had a fight-dog like personality that disliked people, so I thought she would pick a fight with Uranos as soon as she met him, but it seemed it had been worth the while to scold her.

"It's been a while. I think it's been about 6 years? You've grown a lot."

Last time I saw him, he only came up to my waist, but now he was reaching my chin.

"Yes! Uncle doesn't seem to have changed!" Uranos answered enthusiatically.

I smiled lightly. "Adults don't usually change much."

Of course, I didn’t age much because I had reached this level at an early age.

"Okay, how's your mother doing? Does Hyung-nim still live tied down?"

Uranos laughed awkwardly. "Ahaha. My mother is still strict, and my father is still a good-for-nothing."

He seemed to still live under his wife’s thumb.

"Mac-hyung was originally a fool, but I guess he became an even bigger fool when he got entangled with Hestia noona. I guess he couldn’t be strict, unlike her."

Uranos turned sullen at my words. Still, considering how he seemed to understand what I meant, it looked like he had taken after Third Sister and had a decent head.

"Yes... But my father still often trains me.”

Training, what bullsh*t.

At a glance, Uranos's skills in magic seemed to be at the level of a great magician. As for martial arts, it was around the middle ranks of his age, and at best, upper ranks. If my father saw him, he would get thrown in front of a dragon. He seemed very weak in comparison to the childhood my brothers and I had. Well, my father's training was crazy.

"It's okay. It's not good to invest everything in strength unconditionally. We are walking towards a future where your ability to read the situation accurately would matter most, so you must be steadfast in your convictions. The value of strength will diminish, and the value of skills like magic will increase. You did a good job of learning magic. You look like you have talent."

Uranos brightened up from my encouragement.

"Yes! Thank you! In fact, I learned magic because I heard Uncle had learned it since he was young."

His eyes shone with admiration for me.

How burdensome. But his face turned gloomy all of a sudden.

I didn't know what he was worried about, but discipline was not my area. I wonder if Hestia noona does this well?

"Come to think of it, Leisha noona was dispatched to the Empire this time, right? You must have gone through the Empire to get here, right? How is she?" I asked.

Uranos nodded vigorously. "Yes! Aunt Leisha doesn't want to go back to Olympus Forest and asked me to relay that she wants to work there permanently."

Well, Olympus Forest was a magician’s hell. But those from hell should go back to hell. It would be fine to slowly decide upon who would be dispatched next.

"And Aunt’s friends asked when Uncle would come and play. They said if Uncle doesn’t come, then they’ll come here!"

"Friends?"

"Yes! She said they were Miss Yuria with white hair and red eyes, and Miss Alice with blonde hair and blue eyes.”

"Oh, really?"

We met 7 months ago. That should’ve been enough, what do you need me to come again for?

“Oh, and Aunt has also asked to deliver her greetings to someone named Hillis.”

"Really… I'll deliver it to Hillis. All right. So, why did you come from afar to see me? I heard it was a letter delivery, but I made it possible to communicate by magic for something at the level of letters, so there must be another reason," I surmised.

Uranos handed me a letter stamped with my seal I left in our hometown.

"Did Noona send it?"

"Yes, she did."

I opened the letter and read it quickly.

It was quite a long message, but to sum it up, it was a reminder to return to our hometown and serve as the chief.

Well, the policy to expand exchanges with the outside world planned by me and my sister was also nearing the end. The pipeline connecting the village in Olympus Forest had been improved, and many of the company's supplies went to the village.

Now, the village didn’t have a prohibition where outsiders could never enter, but they could enter if they could use strong aura. However, their lives couldn't be guaranteed if they left the path.

I read the long letter to the end, but there was additional content behind it.

P.S: If you're going to keep leaving the chief's seat empty, at least set up a successor. Uranos said his dream was to become a chief since he was young, so I sent him with this letter so you can raise him. If you think Uranos is lacking, get married quickly and have children.

Why would I have a child?

Even if I got married and had children, I didn't want to hand over such a cumbersome position like being the chief to my child. But I could set up a small chief, even if he was not my direct descendent since the power of succession rested solely with the chief.

"You're such a weirdo, too. Your dream is to be the chief?” I looked at him, dumbfounded.

I can't believe your goal is to do something so annoying.

"Why?! The chief is so cool! He works hard for the village! He’s the strongest! Everyone in the village admires Uncle!" Uranos protested.

Sacrifice and keeping the best interests of the village are such annoying things. Not only that, you must be strong. You have no idea because you’re still young.

"I heard Grandfather even tamed great demons!"

"Oh, that little kid."

"Little kid?"

"No. Nothing."

The Dragon That Lived Ten Thousand Years learned transformation magic from my great-grandmother, turned into a little kid and was wandering around. If it was going to transform, it should have transformed into something like a puppy, so I could put a leash on it to make sure it wouldn’t cause any accidents.

I'm going to catch it one day and beat it until dust rises on a rainy day.

But anyway … So a successor.

It would be nice to have a successor, but unfortunately, Uranos was far too low and way too weak. However, there was nothing to consider because he was not even a genius outside the norm like Hestia noona. If the chief could not cope with all sorts of situations with intellect, he had to be able to overcome all sorts of situations by force. A superman who could solve everything with absolute force was a prerequisite to be the chief. Therefore, the position of chief was usually taken by the strongest person.

"Do you want to be the chief that badly?" I asked.

Uranos responded loudly, "Yes!"

Should I really try raising him and dump it all on him?

"Are you prepared? It might be better to die than go through the training to become a chief," I said seriously, looking determined.

"Yes! I'm prepared!"

"There's no giving up in the middle. When we start, either you become my successor or you die. Is that fine?” I asked coldly with killing intent.

Of course it was a lie. What curse and reprimand would I receive from Third Sister if I killed her child?

It was just a simple test. My killing intent was to the point that even the elders could not receive it well. Even if he lacked skills, he needed the determination and courage to endure trials.

His entire body trembled. It was natural because he would never have experienced this kind of killing intent. It was ok for him to give up. It was fine for him to just close his eyes without saying a word. I wouldn’t be teaching him, but it was okay for him to learn and challenge it again.

Then, Uranos vigorously hit the table with his forehead. The table was completely destroyed, and blood flowed out of his forehead.

Ah, that was a very expensive table!

"Yes! I'll overcome it! If I can't overcome it, I'd rather die, uwack!”

Uranos was proclaiming proudly, Asus flew over with her wings opened, and kicked him in the side with all her might.

"How dare you raise dust in front of the President-nim! I'll kill you now!"

Oh, that was the problem?

I collected the refreshments and tea thrown into the air due to the flying kick and placed it back onto the tray. "Enough."

"Yes! President-nim!" Asus put her hand to her forehead as if saluting and stood straight.

"I told you not to beat people up," I chided.

"Yes... I'm sorry...” Asus replied, dejectedly.

I sighed as I saw her wings droop. At the 3rd branch, she had damaged soomeone’s brain, so I left her at the main shop counter where there were no guests. And yet, her personality hadn’t changed a bit.

I’d rather not have to handle all this trouble. I'm sorry to Arwen, but I really should not return.

Of course, I didn't have any intentions to return.

"Get on your knees over there and raise your arms over your head."

Asus became sullen at my command, went to the corner, knelt, and raised her hand.

"Hey, are you okay?"

"Yes. I’m okay...”

Uranos sat back in place, stroking the area where he was suddenly hit and was surprised.

"Okay. I heard your answer well. Then we'll start tomorrow."

Uranos looked at me, puzzled. "Start what?"

"What do you mean what? Classes for the successor. In other words, management class."

It was Asus who was surprised by my answer. "Pre-President-nim?!"

I reached out to Uranos. "Welcome to the Raven Company."

Uranos held my hand, his face a picture of emotions. "Thank you, Uncle!"

No need to thank me since you'll be experiencing hell.

Welcome to the land of blood flow. To the Raven Company.

End.
