My Cold and Ruthless CEO Wife-Chapter 16: Celestial Fox Art
"How was the interview?"
In the dining room, Long Tian and Meng Lingxue were eating dinner.
No one spoke. The only sound in the dining room was the faint clink of utensils against porcelain, stretching the silence into something heavy.
"It was okay; with you recommending me, I had no problem," Long Tian chuckled.
He had done some research on his wife and was shocked.
She had single-handedly built her company into one of the industry’s giants. For the first time, Long Tian truly understood the woman he had married.
"Also, thanks for the 100 million. Within a month, I will pay you back the money," Long Tian said.
Meng Lingxue shook her head. She didn’t think Long Tian would be able to repay it.
"Okay." She had no interest in whether he paid it back or not. Her gaze remained indifferent.
After dinner, Long Tian entered his room, locking it as he began cultivating.
He sank into meditation, operating the Infinite Source Cannon and finding his consciousness in the Infinite Source Genesis Diagram.
Observing the diagram, he saw that another genesis ring had formed.
His consciousness trembled.
He went to the Genesis ring and saw an indistinct shadow floating in it.
He tried to figure out what the shadow was, and then he heard a loud, familiar scream.
A fox’s cry.
The scream tore through his consciousness like a blade, shattering his mental form into fragments.
At this moment, he saw the shadow’s pitch-black, bloody-red eyes. All it took was a glimpse, and his consciousness shattered.
Unknown to him, a strand of crimson light slipped into the depths of his mind... and vanished.
Long Tian opened his eyes, shocked by what had happened.
Even though he knew the shadow was a fox, what kind of fox was it?
His mind raced for answers.
At that moment, he suddenly felt something strange. When he checked his body, he found he had grown two fluffy white fox ears and two white fox tails waving behind him.
His eyes had completely changed into fox eyes.
His expression remained calm—but his heart sank. This wasn’t the first time it had happened... and that was exactly the problem.
There were times when he would completely transform into a white fox.
And the problem was that he couldn’t control the transformation.
It depended on his bloodline.
With it, he had been able to survive most of the time in the forest.
But one thing he realized was that his bloodline wasn’t that of a white fox; he felt the white fox bloodline was more like a veil.
And the fox shadow confirmed his conjecture.
Long Tian immediately tried to recall them as he had before, but he couldn’t.
It was the first time this had happened, leaving him confused and unsettled.
This form posed a risk to his daily life.
He tried retracting them numerous times until he succeeded, and in his mind, he found a shard of inherited memories from the Fox Bloodline.
As he absorbed the memories, vivid scenes flashed before him:
A black nine-tailed fox battling enemies.
A red nine-tailed fox spewing fire.
A snow-white nine-tailed fox standing on a mountain.
Those scenes flashed through his mind as a cultivation technique occurred to him.
Celestial Fox Art.
He absorbed all information about the Celestial Fox Art, and his body transformed into a white fox the size of a cat.
Looking at the two tails behind him, he slowly closed his eyes and began cultivating the Celestial Fox Art.
A ripple of energy surged in the shadow fox’s genesis ring, and the shadow fox opened its red eyes.
A sharp, piercing scream erupted, and the shadow of a fox appeared behind him. It had nine tails, waving in the air.
This went unnoticed by Long Tian; his eyes remained closed.
In the Infinite Source Genesis Diagram, the shadow fox’s genesis ring blazed with fire, and a flaming tail appeared behind it.
Long Tian’s first tail began to burn with flames. The flames intensified.
They crackled, searing heat crawling over his skin. Within moments, the fire could have reduced the house to ashes.
Realizing the danger, he instantly halted the Celestial Fox Art.
Looking around, he saw no damage—only an increase in the temperature of the surroundings. He was relieved.
If he had continued, the house might have been destroyed, drawing unwanted attention.
He looked at the first tail behind him, and as he willed it, it burned with fire.
He had partially awakened the first element: the fire element.
It seemed that for every tail he awakened, an elemental affinity awakened with it.
Each tail carried a spark of elemental power: the first burned with fire, the second promised another yet unknown.
That meant with the two tails, he could still awaken another elemental affinity apart from the fire element.
As much as he wanted to awaken it, he would have to wait until he found a quiet place... or create a formation to seal and conceal the effects. But he lacked the necessary materials.
Focusing his will, he drew the fire back into his first tail, cooling the room. Only then did he revert to his human form.
He had to find a way to obtain those resources, and from his memories, he knew their worth—which meant a huge amount of money would be required to get them.
KNOCK! KNOCK!!
The door was knocked, breaking him from his thoughts. Long Tian slowly stood up, using his Mystic Dragon Eye to pierce through the door, and saw Aunt Anna standing with a worried expression.
He opened it, and when she saw Long Tian unharmed, she felt relieved.
"Sorry to disturb you at this hour. I kept hearing a fox cry from the surroundings before tracing it here. I hope there’s no danger," she asked in a worried tone.
Long Tian scratched his head, smiling. "Just watching Geographic Wild, and it was about a fox hunting. Didn’t expect you could hear it. Seems the volume was loud."
"Do you want to watch with me?" he invited, but Aunt Anna shook her head.
She could feel the lingering heat in the room, but she kept her curiosity to herself.
"Ok. Good night, young master," she said as she walked downstairs.
Long Tian watched her lingering figure before closing the door.
He sat on his bed, looking for means to make income, and it was only the Divine Doctor’s skills.
"Alas, a killer becoming a healer," he muttered.
