My Crush Also Has a Crush on Me!-Chapter 8 - : The Hook That Made My Heart Flutter
Chapter 8: Chapter 8: The Hook That Made My Heart Flutter
Fu Ying sat on the floor, leaning over the coffee table to do her homework, with Fu Mingchuan teaching her patiently by her side.
Fu Ying was quite intelligent, catching on with just a hint in some places.
However, as she was writing, occasionally from upstairs came: "I've got the BUFF!"
Or: "Brother Li Guang is impressive, he got a pentakill!"
Or again: "Seize the dragon, let's end this in one push."
"..." Fu Ying didn't quite understand the game and had no clue what they were talking about.
Fu Mingchuan frowned: "Nanny Wu, please close the door to the upstairs room."
"Yingying, any more homework you don't understand?"
Fu Ying pulled out her English assignment: "I still have English."
...
After finishing the homework, Fu Mingchuan took a phone call.
Fu Ying packed her school bag, ready to head back to her room, when suddenly she felt a discomfort in her stomach. It wasn't until she ran to the bathroom that she realized her period had started.
The only female in the house was Nanny Wu, so Fu Ying had no choice but to seek help shyly.
"Nanny Wu, I think my period has started."
Nanny Wu's face was kind, and she said with a smile: "I've prepared for you. There are plenty in your bathroom cabinet."
Fu Ying nodded, clutching her stomach, her little face pale: "Thank you, Nanny Wu."
That night, Fu Ying's stomach pain was unbearable, and she didn't come downstairs for dinner.
During dinner, Fu Mingchuan noticed the little one's absence from the table and couldn't help but ask.
Nanny Wu nodded: "Yes, she said her stomach was uncomfortable. I made her some brown sugar water; I'll take it up in a bit."
Fu Mingchuan understood.
He could be involved in the growth of his two sons, but Fu Ying was a girl and, as she grew up, there were certain physical changes where it wasn't appropriate for him to intervene.
Items like her intimate clothing and personal products had all been purchased by Nanny Wu.
Unknowingly, his daughter had grown up.
"Leave some food in the kitchen."
Nanny Wu nodded: "Alright."
.
This was her first menstrual cycle. In the royal palace, girls around her age started at thirteen or fourteen.
She, on the other hand, had not had any signs and did not expect it to come now, with such painful cramps.
Fu Ying felt a bit better after drinking the brown sugar water brought by Nanny Wu and curled up in bed for a while.
In the middle of the night, Fu Ying became hungry and went downstairs to see if there was anything to eat in the kitchen.
Just out of the bedroom, she saw a tall figure standing at the end of the hallway, facing the window. The night breeze lifted the silk of his nightgown.
Fu Ying fluttered her eyelashes, thinking: This, this is her lifesaver...
How should she repay him for saving her life?
Apparently hearing her footsteps, the tall figure turned around.
Shen Liguang took a drag on his cigarette, surrounded by swirls of smoke, his expression looking hazy and unclear.
For the first time, Fu Ying saw both coldness and tenderness in a person, not contradicting each other but coexisting.
He pinched out the cigarette butt in his hand, staring at her.
The corridor lights were on, shining on the young girl.
She looked particularly different.
Fu Ying blinked, wanting to get close to him, thinking this in her heart, and thus she did.
Approaching slowly until the face in front of her, lazy and listless, made her stop.
Suddenly she felt nervous, her heart pounding like a little deer.
Her little mouth opened, but she didn't know what to say.
She felt a twinge of annoyance. Why did she come over?
Shen Liguang stared at the little friend standing before him, heart height, lowered his gaze, and snuffed out his cigarette.
He didn't speak either, lips curved as if waiting for Fu Ying to speak first.
He could tell the little girl was feeling awkward and uneasy, tiny hands gripping her clothes tightly, lowering her little head, standing in front of him.
Between them, no one spoke. Fu Ying hung her head slightly, and she could hear her heart pounding in the quiet of the night, so crisply clear.
Shen Liguang waited a moment, then unable to hear the little girl speak, couldn't help but ask, "What's wrong?"
His voice was very pleasing to the ear, indescribably so. Fu Ying always felt a surge of joy whenever he spoke to her.
"Aren't you going to sleep, brother?"
"Smoking craving hit me. Didn't want to smoke in the room, it smells strong." Shen Liguang raised his hand to gather the ash, and as he lifted his arm, his pajama sleeve fell, revealing the injuries on his arm in full.
Scorched patches, so startling and distressing.
Fu Ying, lifting her head, looked up at him.
He was very attractive. If he wasn't a firefighter, Fu Ying thought, he could have entered show business.
Out of so many professions, he chose to serve the people, opting for the high-risk job of a firefighter.
Such a noble profession.
"Does it hurt, brother?"
Shen Liguang was a bit taken aback before he realized she was asking about his wound.
"No, not at all,"
"Here..." Fu Ying took a small step closer, lifted her hand and pointed at his arm, "is that the injury from rescuing people from fires?"
All those were burns, horrific scars. Shen Liguang, worried about frightening the little girl, let his sleeve slide back down.
"No."
"Then why did you get hurt?"
The little girl's voice was soft, tender, as she lifted her head, her face full of confusion as she looked at him.
Their gazes met, locked eyes. Each inadvertent glance made the little girl nervously look away.
Shen Liguang didn't feel anything unusual. He paused, realizing that the little girl was full of curiosity and prone to dig deep.

Perhaps it was because she was young. At their age, they never pry into someone's heart, much less let others peer into their own.
Had it been anyone else that night, Shen Liguang would not have answered.
"The injury happened when I was being rescued." Shen Liguang chuckled lightly, "When I was saved by firefighters, I thought they were heroes, so I became one too."
To prevent the little girl from asking more questions, Shen Liguang preemptively answered the questions she might have had.
"Brother... for you..."
In her palm was another piece of orange-flavored candy.
Again taken from the small pocket of her pajamas.
This small gesture secretly amused Shen Liguang as well as warmed his heart.
Was she trying to soothe his unfortunate past, or the injuries he sustained? Regardless of which, Shen Liguang felt his mood incredibly lifted at that moment.
"Thank you." Shen Liguang reached out to take the candy.
His fingers were cold, and as they brushed against Fu Ying's palm, she couldn't help but stiffen up.
Her palm tingled.
"It's late, time to sleep."
"Okay."
She was very well-behaved, ever so quietly demure.
As Shen Liguang entered his room, the girl's gaze followed him.
He looked back at her, and the little girl diverted her eyes elsewhere.
