His kick landed squarely against its torso, sending it flying backwards and crashing through several structures before slamming into the ground.

Without waiting for even a single second, West followed with his blade already swinging.

The creature was split in half again but this time West felt no relief because he already knew it was pointless.

The two halves twitched before crawling across the ground and reconnecting.

It stood again completely whole and unharmed before turning fully toward him.

Its attention locked onto West as it made a decision.

West... was a threat... and now, it would eliminate him.

The glowing lines along its arms intensified as it shot towards West at astonishing pace.

West raised his blade at the last moment.

Claws collided with metal and the impact sent a shockwave through the air.

West slid back slightly but held his ground as the creature followed up immediately with another slash.

SHRIIIIIIK!

The red arc tore toward him but West twisted his body, barely dodging as it carved through the space beside him.

"...Tch."

The humanoid creature seemed to be moving faster now like it was adapting.

But West couldn’t be bothered about this right now... he just had to stall the creature long enough till the peak of the collapse before fleeing for the exit.

The battle escalated instantly as they went back and forth, relentlessly.

West landed powerful and clean hits but nothing ended it.

The creature responded, matching his ruthless attacks without slowing.

A red arc grazed West’s side, tearing through fabric and skin while another strike forced him back.

"...This thing..."

West exhaled sharply.

"...You just don’t stay down, do you?"

Without responding, the creature charged at him

West body burst into a golden energy glow as he slipped past the creature’s claw by inches, vanishing from his previous position and reappearing at the creature’s flank in a burst of speed that distorted the air.

The massive black guardian blade exuding dark mist, thrust down brutally.

The sword pierced straight into the creature’s chest just as it turned around.

However, instead of stopping, the creature moved forward, forcing itself along the blade, ignoring the damage entirely.

"...Tch—!"

A claw came swinging causing West to instantly release the sword instantly and slip backward, narrowly evading the strike as the claws tore through the air where his head had been moments ago.

He let go of the sword and leapt over its head, doing a flip in the process.

A surge of crackling electricity gathered in his palm as he turned mid-air and thrust his hand forward.

"Take this."

A bolt of lightning exploded from his arm—

CRACK—!

It slammed into the creature’s back, spreading wildly across its body and forcing a violent twitch.

But the humanoid being didn’t fall... it only slowed down.

West clicked his tongue.

"Then let’s push it further."

He stepped in again at close range activating another ability.

A faint purplish aura wrapped around his fists as he struck.

His punch landed square into the creature’s torso and immediately, the flesh at the point of impact began to melt.

It sizzled before breaking apart into grotesque sludge.

The creature screeched but swung back.

West ducked under the attack and followed up with punch after punch.

Bang!

Bang!

Boom!

Each hit, melted more of its body, destroying its flesh and causing body parts to fall apart but it kept regenerating.

West suddenly gripped his sword which was still embedded in its chest and leapt back before swinging...

His blade moved like a storm as he swung at superspeed, seemingly using the sword training he had learnt from Aurethia.

His attack speed drastically increased as his blade turned into a blur and in mere seconds, the creature was reduced to fragments, scattered across the ground.

West swerved backwards once more, breathing heavily as he stared at the diced up chunks of body.

"...That should do it—"

The pieces suddenly began to move.

"...You’ve got to be kidding me."

They wriggled and slid across the ground, pulling toward each other and reforming even faster than before.

The moment its upper torso reformed, it attacked, sending a powerful claw tearing forward.

West swerved sideways but didn’t activate the skill fast enough so the claw struck a part of his body.

SHRKK!

Pain exploded through his body as his shoulder was ripped open and blood sprayed across the ground.

"...Tch—!"

His sword flew from his grasp but the humanoid creature didn’t give him a single second of breathing space...

It relentlessly pushed forward slashing with its claws and stabbing with its tail nonstop.

Fist collided with claw as West clashed with it weaponless.

Small shockwaves rippled through the ruins as the ground beneath them cracked violently with each exchange

With every collision, there was a quake.

West’s body shook as blood ran freely down his torn arm and his breathing grew heavier but his eyes stayed focused and cold.

The creature’s claws slashed forward again and again and again causing red energy arcs to tear through the air.

West dodged, blocked and countered to the best of his abilities...

Until...

The ground trembled loudly as cracks started to spread across the structures in the surroundings and the ceiling above.

Massive chunks of stone broke free, falling and crashing all around them.

This ruins was collapsing.

West’s eyes flicked upward for a split second.

"...Damn it."

He could feel the instability and roughly knew that he had very little time left to get out.

Outside the ruins entry point, Nina gripped her hands tightly.

"...He’s still in there..."

Jax stood beside her, eyes fixed on the collapsing entrance.

"He’ll make it."

But even he, couldn’t hide the tension in his voice.

"He has to."

The others looked hopeful as well offering words of comfort.

Nina wanted to step forward but Gor’thala held her back.

"Master orders... no one goes in..."

Gor’thala herself was worried but orders were orders. She could only believe in West and through the summon-master link, they could tell that West was in a heated battle.

Back inside, West exhaled slowly.

The humanoid creature charged at him again but West stepped back, dodging its lunge.

"...Alright...Let’s end this."

West decided to activate a skill he brought from the shop about two weeks ago.

West moved with precision aiming his first hit at the humanoid creature ribs.

Without wasting a single moment, he landed the second, third and fourth at the same position with every fist being stronger than the last.

The creature was sent sliding backwards but swiftly retaliated, slashing its claws wildly and its tail whipping bit West dodged and landed the fifth, sixth and seventh hit on the creature’s side.

Just as he wanted to land the eighth, a rock descended from above falling straight towards him.

He swerved around at the last second and it crashed beside him.

’Phew~ close call...’

If it had touched West, he’d have to start from the beginning again.

The ground split beneath his feet as he landed the eighth hit on the humanoid creature’s back.

The creature roared in agony as a strange energy spread through its body and it locked onto him.

Before it could attack, West’s fist slammed into its face, causing its skull to cave in and landing his ninth hit.

West’s breath tightened.

"...One more."

However as the creature’s body tilted backwards from the force of the attack with blood splattering from its face, its claws suddenly shot straight at West’s chest...

It was unexpected and unavoidable... once it hit, West’s streak would be interrupted...

In an instant, his body slipped into the darkness beneath the creature before reappearing behind it.

West fist traveled forward with intensity towards the humanoid being’s back.

A cataclysmic explosion erupted from his fist upon contact, warping the air and causing the ground to shatter.

The creature’s body was immediately obliterated, blasting apart in every direction.

Chunks flew across the cavern with some embedding into walls and others getting crushed beneath falling debris.

West closed his eyes briefly while lowering his fist which had steam erupting from its surface.

"...Stay down this time."

However, it didn’t take more than a few moments before West noticed movement.

"...Sigh~"

The pieces blasted across the surroundings were still wriggling even now.

They started trying to reconnect.

West’s eyes hardened.

"...Not happening."

He reached into his inventory.

A small, metallic device appeared in his hand which he proceeded to hurl far eastward.

The disk activated mid-air and a powerful gravitational pull erupted from it, dragging nearby body fragments toward it, pinning them in place.

As these pieces were pulled together, a massive chunk of the collapsing ceiling fell.
