My Evil Boy Toy-Chapter 281: Nothing But The Truth
Chapter 281: Nothing But The Truth
"Are you sure you can stand in front of that man?" I asked my mother when she came into our bedroom.
I heard her sigh. "I’ll do it for our family."
"What about you, dad?" I asked.
He was sitting on the couch reading the morning newspaper. He also stood trial a few months ago in Flousia. He wasn’t convicted, but he was on house arrest. He was able to leave the country because of mother’s request to accompany her to Benjamin’s trial.
Kyle and the elders had some argument about it, but in the end, they allowed him as long as the royal guards would be with him at all times.
"You know very well that I will support your mother’s decision. I’m here to relax and catch up with Dr.Richards." He said.
I chuckled. He changed a lot after mother came back alive. He could now joke around and make fun of something. For that, I was thankful. Mother also looked happy and bright being with her true love.
"What about you, Jayden?" Father asked.
I turned to Jayden and waited for his answer. His aura changed and I knew already that he switched identity.
"I’m always ready, old man." He smirked.
Father glared at him. He was always in fighting mode whenever Jayden changed identities.
"I really hate that personality of his."
I chuckled. Everyone accepted that Jayden has alters. He would sometimes fight with Camila, Alora’s other identity. Luke and I would have to stop them because everything would end up in a mess if we don’t.
I was nervous when the day of Benjamin Miller’s trial came. And it was called the trial of the century because the richest families in the city including the royal family of Flousia were involved.
Jayden held my hand as we sat behind my mother and our lawyers. Beside me were Alora and Luke.
The first case was faking the death of Princess Catherine, her abduction, and torture for twenty-three years.
My mother came into the stand and swore to tell the truth. I knew she was uncomfortable seeing the man who kept her for years, but I admire her courage in standing firm in front of Benjamin.
She told everyone about the torture she received from Benjamin. I couldn’t stop myself from crying when I heard everything. I glanced at father and I saw his dark face and gritted teeth.
Mother was the love of his life, but an evil man did horrible things to her. I knew he was in pain and his hatred grew toward Benjamin.
I felt Jayden squeeze my hand and he smiled when I looked at him. I nodded and hugged my father from behind.
"Just look at mom. Don’t let your anger consume you. Let the law punish him." I said.
Father was shaking from anger and then he took a deep breath, releasing his wrath. I felt his hand hold mine and he calmed down.
"Thank you, love." He said and then kiss my hand gently.
Our lawyers presented all the evidence of mother’s captivity including photos and some videos. Everyone was silent inside the courtroom and I saw some of the juries wiping their tears.
No one from outside our family knew what really happened to my mother. It was the first time we agreed to tell it in public.
It wasn’t that easy. But mother said it’s necessary for the trial against Benjamin.
The judge allowed us a one-hour break because he saw how heavy the ambiance was. Everyone was affected by the brutality of what Benjamin did to my mother.
We gathered inside a room assigned to us so we could comfort each other. For the first time, I saw Alora cried for someone other than her family.
"I don’t know why I’m crying. My heart is aching, Peggy." She said.
Then she hugged me and then we cried together with Sophie and Nina.
We heard a few knocks and we were surprised to see some of the reporters by the door. I stood up and approached them.
"I’m sorry, but for now, we can’t give further details about the trial. We appreciate it if you would leave my mother and let us see this trial throughout the end." I said.
But I was more surprised that no one was holding a microphone or even a recorder. I also noticed that the cameras were turned off. And then some of them handed me a set of red tulips and primrose.
"Princess Margaret, we admire Princess Catherine’s courage and strength. Red tulips symbolize courage and primrose for strength. We will support your family and we promise to show the world only the truth until the end." One of the reporters said.
My heart was full of happiness. I cried again but it was tears of joy from the overwhelming support of everyone.
"Mother, look. A lot of people heard your story." I said when I came to her side.
She smiled at me and then kissed my forehead.
"This is our story because it is time to tell yours. Let them hear you.’ She said.
I nodded and just looking at her made my fears disappear.
We went back to the courtroom when it was my time to stand in front. I was nervous earlier, but now, I didn’t feel any fear at all.
I swore to tell the truth and nothing but the truth. And then it started.
"State your name, please."
"My name is Margaret Miller Richads, but everyone calls me Peggy," I answered.
"Mrs.Richards, can you tell us your relationship with Benjamin Miller?"
I took a deep breath and stared at the people watching the trial.
"I grew up knowing that he was my father. He told me that my mother died giving birth to me. He left me in a mansion with some servants, believing that he didn’t want to see me because I looked like my mother."
I continued to tell them everything that happened and how I end up knowing that I was being deceived by Benjamin.
"Is it true that you were attacked in Flousia, got stabbed and the baby in your womb died because of it?"
I bit my lip to stop myself from remembering the pain of losing Mireya. I looked at Jayden who was staring at me. He nodded and smiled.
"Yes, I was stabbed by one of his men and then lost my baby."
"Do you have any proof that everything was planned by Benjamin Miller?"
"Yes. A friend of mine was forced to serve one the Santelmo’s, a group under the Trekker Clan. She met Benjamin a few times and confessed about the attack in Flousia."
"Can you tell us who was that friend of yours?" free𝑤ebnovel.com
"Katharina Cross." I answered.
