Chapter 45: A Day With Friends?

Saturday came and as promised, they would have to hang out with her friends. They had planned on having lunch together and go shopping. Then in the evening, dine in a restaurant and have a few drinks.

Caden decided to drive and just ordered the guards to watch them from afar.

"You’re riding with us?" Caden asked Lucas.

"Yeah. I’m too tired to drive. I had to finish some documents just to join you today so you owe me." Lucas said.

They had a reservation at one of the finest restaurants in North Bay City. When they arrived, her friends and the other guys were already there. She looked at Caden to see his reaction when they saw Ace. But she was surprised that he didn’t seem to mind that the guy was there.

Samantha introduced Caden, Lucas, and Brie to everyone. Ace just nodded at Caden but reached out his hand to Lucas. She knew it was disrespectful, but she couldn’t blame Ace since he had a misunderstanding with Caden.

"So, Prince Caden, are you planning to graduate here?" Samantha asked.

Alira looked at Caden and waited for his answer. She also wanted to know if he would stay until the end of the year.

"I’ll stay until graduation because I need to wait for Alira. Then we’ll return to Flousia."

She was a bit surprised because he never told her about his plans.

"You’re bringing, Alira?" Cassy asked.

Caden looked at her and smiled. "Of course! I came back to take her with me."

She remembered he told her about taking what was his. So that’s what he meant. She thought inwardly.

"Prince, we’re just curious, why do you wear a sweatshirt even in summer?" Samantha asked who didn’t seem interested with Caden’s answer.

Her heart pounded. Why did Samantha have to ask Caden about his clothes? And summer in their country wasn’t that hot so it’s fine if you wear a coat or cover yourself.

"I just don’t want to get burned." Caden simply answered.

"Oh! So the prince has sensitive skin or are you scared to get sunburned?" Ace smirked.

She felt the tension between the two, especially from Ace. She was worried that Caden might lose his temper and would hurt Ace, but it was the latter who was putting pressure on the conversation.

"Yeah. Whatever you think of the reason, maybe you’re right or maybe not. I’m not obliged to answer your curiosity, right?" Caden calmly answered.

The food arrived before anyone could open up another topic. She felt relieved when they started to eat. They started to have normal conversations with her friends so it lessened her worries.

They were laughing at Cassy’s jokes when she noticed Samantha was whispering something to Caden. Then she put water in his glass which she felt a little awkward, especially with Samantha’s boyfriend being present.

’Beep.’

She looked at her phone to see who sent her a message and it was from Brie.

’Be careful with your friend. I think he likes Caden.’

She glanced at Samantha again. There was something in her mind about her friend the past few days and as Brie said, Samantha likes Caden.

It made her sad that Samantha would openly flirt with Caden in her presence. They were friends and she didn’t do anything wrong to her.

She felt a stabbing pain in her heart. Caden didn’t try to avoid Samantha. He was smiling at her and would lean closer when her friend whisper something. She was jealous, but she didn’t want them to see that she was annoyed. She didn’t want to ruin their day.

After lunch, they went shopping. She lost interest to look around because of Samantha and Caden. They went inside a clothing store to check their summer collection, but she had no energy to try the new dresses so she decided to sulk in a corner. She frowned when Caden suddenly disappeared.

"Lucas, have you seen Caden?" She asked.

Lucas shook his head. Brie had also no idea where Caden was so she started to get restless. And she noticed that Samantha was also nowhere to be found.

She bit her lip when a few minutes passed Caden and Samantha didn’t come back. She walked out of the store to look for them when someone grabbed her wrist.

"Where are you going?"

It was Caden. She turned to glare at him.

"Where have you been?"

Caden was confused because she looked mad.

"Well, I—I was"

"Are you with Samantha?"

"What? Why would I be with your friend?" Caden asked.

She pouted. That’s when he realized the reason she was mad.

"You’re jealous?"

She glared at him which made him laugh. Then he pulled her inside the store again, dragging her inside the VIP room.

"You’re still pretty even when you’re mad."

"Are you making fun of me? Do you enjoy teasing me?" She ranted.

Caden chuckled. "Yes. I love seeing your reaction. But before you get mad, I’m not with that girl. I don’t even know her name. I’m sorry I went to a different store to buy this."

He took a flat square box from his pocket and handed it to her. She was surprised, of course. She took it and opened the box.

"Do you like it? I saw you looking at it last night." He said.

It was a necklace with a locket pendant. Hoseki didn’t have that design so she was looking at it and was really planning to buy one.

"Open the locket."

Her eyes widened when she saw his photo and hers when she opened the locket.

"How did you get this overnight?" She asked.

The locket was made of platinum with a blue diamond in front, surrounded by small crystals. Only five would be made by the store and you had to wait for a week to get one.

"I called the store last night. Luckily, they already made one and you are the first owner of it. I asked them to change some details so it wouldn’t look like the other four. Look, our initials are engraved here."

"I—I didn’t know—"

Caden’s expression suddenly changed.

"You’re mad at me for no reason. Do you want to get punished?" He smirked.
