My Fiancé's Scandals Never End, So I Married His Uncle Instead-Chapter 97: Both Look Like the Boyfriend
A faint, cold smirk touched his bewitching features.
Kian Sterling didn’t mince words. "We can move it up, but the earliest would be in half a month. If you’re thinking of getting your marriage license on this trip back to Metropia, that’s impossible."
The light in Silas Norwood’s amber eyes dimmed, his expression unreadable—neither pleased nor disappointed. "Kian Sterling, I’m not here to bargain with you."
"We’re both men. I know our baser instincts all too well," Kian Sterling scoffed. "People don’t cherish what they get too easily. You need to suffer a little. Compared to two months, half a month is the absolute limit of my concession."
A ghost of a smile played on his lips. "I’m not making you go through all the traditional betrothal ceremonies, which could drag things out for a year or more. The fact that I’m letting you stick to the original wedding timeline is already a courtesy I’m extending because you’re Silas Norwood."
In other words, the matter was no longer up for discussion.
Silas Norwood lowered his gaze, turning the thumb ring on his finger. After a long moment, he elegantly poured Kian Sterling a cup of tea.
"Then I must thank you, Kade."
The sound of light footsteps came from behind. Celia Sterling emerged from the restroom and saw the two men ignoring a table laden with food to drink tea instead. She raised a delicate eyebrow.
"Why are you drinking tea instead of eating?"
In perfect sync, the two men set down their teacups and silently picked up their chopsticks again.
After the meal, Celia Sterling took Kian Sterling and Silas Norwood to a renowned luxury shopping street in Port Sovereign.
"Brother, I want to take Silas to buy a matching outfit for that yellow cheongsam, and I want to buy you some things too. It’s been so long since I’ve gone shopping with you!" Celia Sterling hugged Kian Sterling’s arm, swinging it back and forth with a wheedling tone.
Kian Sterling slowly pried her hand off. "Go hug your Silas Norwood."
"But I want to hug my brother!" Celia clung to his side like an octopus, her eyes crinkling with a mischievous smile.
A faint smile flickered in Kian Sterling’s eyes. He gave her cheek an indulgent pinch, letting her have her way.
Silas Norwood stood behind them, watching the siblings’ affectionate display. He studied Kian Sterling’s face impassively for several seconds before nonchalantly looking away.
A sports car wasn’t suitable for three people. Silas Norwood and Kian Sterling each tossed their car keys to their respective assistants and opted for a luxury van, which then headed toward the shopping district.
In a corner, Eldest Young Master Warren watched the harmonious scene, a seed of self-doubt planting itself in his mind. He asked his Perfumer in a low voice:
"A world for three, yet it’s not crowded at all. They even look happy together. Am I just behind the times?"
The Perfumer said nothing, merely gesturing for him to look behind him.
Eldest Young Master Warren whipped his head around.
Behind him stood Evan Rhodes, still holding the sports car keys Kian Sterling had tossed him. He spoke politely, "Out of respect for Chairman Warren, my boss hasn’t bothered with you, Eldest Young Master Warren. But you’ve been following for quite a while now. It’s time to stop. The boss is not a patient man."
Eldest Young Master Warren watched the luxury van disappear from view, unable to contain his curiosity. "A man of Chairman Sterling’s status... is he really willing to lower himself to share a plain, unremarkable little girl with some kept man—"
Before he could finish, Evan Rhodes cut him off coldly. "Eldest Young Master Warren, I’d be careful what you say, lest disaster follow. That ’unremarkable little girl’ you mentioned is the young lady of the Sterlings, our boss’s biological sister. As for the ’kept man’..."
He did not reveal Silas Norwood’s identity on his own authority. "Go home and ask Chairman Warren."
Ask his own father? Eldest Young Master Warren wasn’t a fool. If this was someone whose status was only known to his father’s circle, then he was definitely not just some freeloader. Recalling Silas Norwood’s noble and aloof aura, which was completely different from how he’d seemed on the cruise ship, Eldest Young Master Warren rose cautiously. "I’ve overstepped. Please extend my apologies to Chairman Sterling and Young Master Norwood."
Evan Rhodes watched the other man’s sports car head toward the airport before looking away. He didn’t follow the others to the shopping district. Instead, he set off for Metropia. The secret document signed at the gravesite was too important; he needed to personally oversee it through the proper channels before Kian Sterling returned to Metropia.
「Commercial Street.」
Most of Celia Sterling’s clothes were custom-made. However, ever since they knew she was coming to Metropia, there hadn’t been enough time for custom orders. The hundred-plus outfits Kian Sterling had prepared for her were mostly selected from this very street. While they couldn’t compare to bespoke pieces, they were all from extremely high-end brands.
The yellow cheongsam was from an internationally renowned brand specializing in Chinese-style fashion. Its breathtakingly skillful embroidery, paired with magnificent traditional motifs, came with a hefty price tag. When Celia and the others arrived, the store wasn’t very crowded. The brand manager had been notified in advance and was personally waiting to welcome them.
An exquisite, beautiful woman, followed by two men handsome enough to cause a frenzy even in the celebrity-packed entertainment industry. The moment the trio appeared at the storefront, they caused a hushed commotion.
The brand manager personally came forward and greeted them with the utmost respect.
"Our distinguished guests, please come to the VIP room for some tea. Whatever you need, I will have the store manager bring it to you personally."
Neither Kian Sterling nor Silas Norwood were the type to go shopping. Usually, when they needed something, the brand’s CEO would deliver it to their door personally. Even when he was preparing clothes for Celia in advance, Kian had simply given her measurements and cleared out an entire rack indiscriminately. Now, looking at the dazzling showroom, both men were a little silent.
Celia Sterling glanced at the two of them and, knowing exactly what they were thinking, waved her hand. "You two go wait in the VIP room. Once I’ve picked some things out, I’ll bring them to you to try on."
"Don’t pick too many. We might not be able to take them all back to Metropia," Kian Sterling reminded her lightly, then followed the eager brand manager to the lounge inside with Silas Norwood.
Celia Sterling remained alone in the vast showroom. The store manager attended to her personally. "Miss, what can I help you with?"
"I’m picking out clothes for my boyfriend." Celia’s gaze swept over the display racks. "Go ahead and recommend any styles or designs you think are good."
Different styles suit different people. The store manager hesitated for a moment. "Of the two gentlemen who were just here, which one is your boyfriend?"
Celia Sterling blinked, deliberately testing her. "You guess."
The manager couldn’t help but glance toward the inner room through the layers of display racks. One man was coolly bewitching, his beauty sharp and arresting; the other was noble and reserved, his elegance unparalleled.
She silently recalled the gentle, doting expressions both men had when they looked at Celia in the showroom. She hesitated. "The way they both look at you... they both look like they could be your boyfriend." 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
’The kind of love that’s bone-deep,’ she added silently.
But Celia Sterling just laughed and gave her a sidelong, exasperated look. "Your judgment is a little off. One of them is my boyfriend, and the other is my biological brother. But I’m buying clothes for both of them."
The manager glanced toward the inner room again. The two men were chatting quietly with placid expressions, occasionally glancing over at Celia. Whether it was the domineering, sharp gaze of the man in smoky purple or the cool, indifferent amber eyes of the man in black, the moment their eyes fell on Celia, their gazes held a hidden, deep, and unidentifiable emotion. The manager, who considered herself a seasoned judge of character, still couldn’t tell which one was the boyfriend.
’Honestly, they both seem like it.’
’And she’s a perfect match for either one.’
