My First Love Died, Now My Step Uncle Wants Me-Chapter 151: Forget About Sleeping
The stylist froze, and before she could react, her colleague was pulling her away. "Don’t stare. Hurry up."
Some time later, the two stylists were ushered back into the makeup room.
They discovered they couldn’t continue with the makeup they had started.
Nina Wynn’s lip was slightly cut and a little swollen, so the original plan for her lip makeup was no longer viable.
Fortunately, Nina Wynn had naturally clean and delicate features, so she didn’t need much adornment.
Before long, her makeup was finished, and they began styling her hair.
Nina Wynn cooperated quietly and was quite easy to work with. The only problem was the man at her side, whose presence was so oppressive they didn’t dare to breathe too loudly.
In the end, they decided on a simple princess-style updo.
When it was time to add hair accessories, the butler brought over a large box.
When the box was opened, even the two stylists, who considered themselves to have seen it all, were left speechless.
The large box was filled with all sorts of jewelry, including hair clips, bracelets, brooches, and more.
A dazzling array, with at least a hundred pieces.
What’s more, they were all haute couture pieces from major jewelry brands, and some were even antiques.
A single piece was worth more than their entire year’s salary.
Seemingly oblivious to the stylists’ stares, the butler asked Nina Wynn, "Miss Wynn, which one would you like to wear?"
Nina Wynn glanced over the jewelry, casually picked up a hair clip that matched the color of her dress, and handed it over. "This one will do."
Just then, Caleb Rhodes stepped forward, took the clip from her, and selected a light blue one instead. He fastened it in her hair near her ear and said in a low voice, "That looks much better."
Then he told the butler, "Bring out that other set."
Nina Wynn had no idea what magnificent jewelry he was about to produce, but she wasn’t particularly fond of such things.
But she knew it was pointless to resist and could only let him do as he pleased.
A moment later, Warner Zimmerman came over with an exquisite little box.
Nina Wynn, who had just finished changing into her dress, came out and took the box.
Inside was a complete set of light-blue, vintage-style jewelry.
The design was very feminine, with an intricate, almost classical style that was both fresh and elegant. It perfectly complemented the clip in her hair.
When it came to aesthetics, Caleb Rhodes had always possessed exceptional taste.
Nina Wynn stood before the mirror. ’It looks pretty good,’ she thought.
Nina Wynn merely thought it looked "pretty good," but to the stylists, the set was absolutely shocking.
One of them whispered, "Isn’t that the ’Selene Serenity’ jewelry set that sold for an astronomical price last week?"
The other recognized it too. "Yes, I saw it in the showroom. If President Rhodes himself hadn’t brought it out, I would’ve mistaken it for a high-end replica."
"It’s a matching set for a couple. There’s a men’s version with a tie clip and collar pin, only the men’s pieces are dark blue..."
Just then, Caleb Rhodes emerged, having also changed his clothes.
He was dressed in a black formal suit, which made his aura seem even more formidable.
And on his tie, a dark blue diamond clip was fastened.
He gave the two stylists an impassive glance. Taking the hint, they quickly packed their things and left.
Caleb Rhodes stared at Nina Wynn for a long moment, a deep emotion swirling in his eyes.
He knew she was beautiful, but he hadn’t expected her to look *this* stunning all dressed up.
’If she didn’t absolutely have to be there tonight, he would never have let her be seen by the public.’
His Adam’s apple bobbed as he walked straight toward her.
His large hand stroked her hair before he leaned down to kiss her forehead. His voice was a little hoarse. "Not bad. I suppose this dress and jewelry are barely worthy of my Nina."
It was the first time Nina Wynn had ever been dressed so formally, and she felt a little apprehensive.
She knew they were heading to some sort of major event, but she had no experience with such places.
Her soft, pale hands clasped together as she asked in a small voice, "Where exactly are we going?"
Caleb Rhodes seemed to sense her slight unease. He took a cashmere shawl from the butler and draped it around her, adjusted her hair again, and whispered, "Don’t worry. Just stick with Warner Zimmerman. No one will pay any attention to you. All you have to do is watch."
This only confused Nina Wynn more. She looked up at him, her eyes dark and questioning.
The way she stared so intently was incredibly captivating, and combined with how she was dressed today, Caleb Rhodes found it difficult to maintain his composure.
He stared at her for a few seconds, his throat working. His voice was hoarse. "When we get there, you are not to stare at people like that. Understand?"
Nina Wynn didn’t understand what he meant and just continued to look at him quietly.
He added, "If anyone tries to meet you or talk to you, just walk away!"
Before Nina Wynn could answer, he suddenly grabbed her soft, slender waist and pulled her into his arms. He leaned down and whispered in her ear, "If I see you talking to another man, you can forget about sleeping tonight."
His hot, moist breath on her delicate earlobe made her shiver. She quickly took a step back and whispered, "Can I not go?"
Caleb Rhodes stepped forward and grabbed her hand. "No. You have to go!" 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Nina Wynn gritted her teeth. "Wait a second!"
She walked over to the vanity, picked up the box full of jewelry, and went to stand before Caleb Rhodes, looking at him with utmost seriousness. "Are all of these for me?"
Caleb Rhodes looked at her. "Of course. I bought them for you, so they’re yours."
Nina Wynn continued to gaze at him. "Then I can do whatever I want with them?"
Caleb Rhodes watched her, his expression unreadable and his voice turning a little cold. "Anything, as long as you don’t sell them."
Hearing this, Nina Wynn hugged the box, walked back to the vanity, opened it, and began to carefully pick through the contents.
After sorting through them for a while, she selected several pieces of jewelry.
There was a lavender, swan-shaped diamond brooch; a delicate, perfectly-cut diamond necklace; a pair of teardrop-shaped diamond earrings; and a bracelet inlaid with pale purple gems.
She carried them over to Warner Zimmerman and looked at her earnestly. "These are for you."
As if afraid Warner Zimmerman wouldn’t accept them, she added, "You heard him. He said I could do what I want with them."
A flicker of surprise crossed Warner Zimmerman’s impassive face before she immediately reverted to her usual cool demeanor. "Thank you, Miss Wynn."
Nina Wynn said, "I think you’d look lovely in a black gown. These pale purple pieces would go beautifully with it."
Warner Zimmerman accepted the jewelry and turned to go to her room.
Caleb Rhodes hadn’t expected Nina Wynn to do something like that. A flicker of warmth crossed his eyes as he stepped forward and took her hand. "You’re quite good at winning people over."
Nina Wynn said softly, "I wasn’t trying to win anyone over. I just thought they would really suit Miss Zimmerman. She’s actually very elegant."
Caleb Rhodes swept her up into his arms. "Let’s go. It’s about time."
They arrived at their destination shortly after. When Nina Wynn saw the person standing at the entrance to the villa, the color drained from her face.
