My five ghostly husbands-Chapter 281 I’ll wait as long as you want
Chapter 281: Chapter 281 I’ll wait as long as you want
He didn’t even notice Ruby creeping closer.
She leaned in so gently, her breath brushing past his cheek.
And with the softest motion, she clipped something into his hair.
He blinked, startled by a small click near his ear.
"Wife?" he asked, eyes wide as he turned toward her voice.
"What was that sound?"
Ruby’s lips curved into a sweet, mischievous smile. "Nothing scary," she said as she tucked a loose strand of his hair behind his ear. "Just a little surprise. A hair clip."
Julian blinked again, confused.
"A... hair clip?"
"Mhm. Your blue hair looked too perfect to leave alone. The white pearl clip really suits you."
His cheeks turned a soft pink. He wasn’t sure what to say.
"Wife... I want to see. Can I see it?"
"Of course." Ruby smiled, her voice like honey. "Turn around and don’t peek."
Julian obeyed, sitting upright with his back to her, looking adorably obedient.
"Wife?" he called nervously after a pause. "Where did you go?"
"Don’t turn yet," she replied, her voice teasing. He heard the soft rustle of a bag, then quiet footsteps behind him.
Ruby had walked over to her bag near the desk and pulled out a small device.
A spectral communicator.
the only kind of "phone" available in this ghost world. It was old-fashioned and heavy, with a simple camera, barely any features, and the photo quality of 240p at best.
But it worked.
She stood behind him and aimed.
Click.
The soft shutter sound made Julian flinch. "...W-Wife?!" he said, startled.
He turned around quickly, eyes wide.
And then they went even wider.
"You... you bought a spectral communicator?!"
Ruby smirked, holding up the screen. "Yup. And look how adorable my husband looks."
Julian leaned in to look.
The image showed him sitting on the bed, face turned to the side, with his soft blue hair tucked gently back by a white pearl clip. He looked gentle. Lovely. A little shy. And completely caught off guard.
"Is... is that really me?" he whispered.
"It is."
"I look... so pretty." he said in disbelief, blinking at the photo.
Ruby tilted her head.
"Of course you do. You’re mine."
And just like that, his ears turned flaming red, and he buried his face in his hands.
Ruby giggled, gently pulling him into her arms. "Should I print it and hang it above my bed?"
"Nooo!" Julian wailed, his voice muffled into her shoulder But he couldn’t stop smiling.
And neither could she.
Julian was still hiding his flushed face behind his hands when Ruby reached into her bag again.
Click. Clack.
She pulled out another spectral communicator and placed it quietly on her lap.
Julian peeked through his fingers... and his eyes widened in shock.
"Wife?!" he gasped, sitting up straighter. "You... you already have one! Why did you buy another?"
He looked genuinely distressed, like her financial decisions might give him a heart attack. "These are expensive! You should’ve told me, I would’ve saved more from grocery shopping—"
Ruby couldn’t help it. Her heart warmed at the sight of him fussing like that.
She gently reached out, turning his shoulders so he faced her fully. His flustered expression, with his slightly tousled blue hair and trembling lips, made her smile softly.
She placed the second communicator in his hands.
Julian looked at it, confused.
"...For me?" he whispered.
Ruby nodded.
"Yes. It’s yours."
His eyes widened again, even more.
"But why?"
Ruby exhaled, her voice gentle and firm.
"Because I trust you, Julian."
"No one handles this house better than you."
She touched his hand, her gaze serious but warm.
"I bought this so that if there’s ever an emergency or if you need me—you can call. I only bought two for now, but I’ll get three more for the others later."
She squeezed his hand.
"But you... you’re the one I can rely on the most. Karl’s too mischievous, Milo’s still a baby at heart, and Adrian... well, he’ll never call unless the world ends."
Julian’s eyes filled with tears.
Not because of the phone.
But because of her words.
He had waited so long to be seen like this.
And now she did.
She truly, deeply trusted him.
"Wife..." he whispered, his voice shaky.
Ruby didn’t say anything. She just pulled him close and kissed his forehead gently, resting her hand against his cheek.
Julian closed his eyes, letting the moment sink into his heart.
It wasn’t just a phone.
It was her trust. Her warmth. Her silent way of saying—
"I see you. I rely on you. I love you."
And for Julian...
That was everything.
She then laid on her side and she asked him to laid beside her and she teached him how too use phone, it’s have calling feature, Album, game, and Watch, calender.
He was clumsy, but he learned anyway.
It was late at night when they finally put down their phones, and Ruby turned off the lights.
And Julian’s heart started beating loudly...
Ruby climbed back into bed, the sheets rustling softly beneath her as she slid beside Julian.
Before he could say anything, she reached out and pulled him gently into her arms, her fingers brushing against the back of his neck.
Julian went completely stiff.
And then—her soft lips brushed the corner of his mouth.
His breath hitched, his face burned, and his soul nearly left his body.
"I know what you were thinking all day..." Ruby whispered against his skin, her voice low and sultry, "...you’re not very subtle, Jules."
Her fingers glided up to his cheek, then down to the side of his neck, tracing a slow line that made goosebumps rise on his skin.
Julian shivered.
"W-Wife..." he barely breathed.
But then, her teasing lips curled into a knowing smile.
"However—" she murmured, pausing, "you’ll have to wait a bit more."
Julian blinked, his wide moss-green eyes staring into hers.
His heart sank just a little, but Ruby was already cupping his face, her thumb smoothing over his lower lip like a silent promise.
"Not because I don’t want to..." she said gently, "but because I want our first time to be without anything else weighing on us."
She pulled the blanket up over them and held him closer.
"Jett still needs time to settle in. He’s fragile right now... and I need to build something stable before I can sleep peacefully with the ghost I love."
Julian’s heart pounded.
He didn’t say anything, just listened, eyes wide as her words filled him with quiet happiness.
"I’ve been thinking," Ruby added softly, "of making Jett my assistant. He’s smart and careful. I need someone like that. And for his living space..."
She trailed off thoughtfully.
"...I’m planning to build another company building soon. Maybe with a dorm."
Julian just stared at her, completely dazed by her planning, her confidence, and how beautifully she held everything together—even when her heart was soft.
He reached for her hand under the blanket and held it tightly.
"Okay," he whispered.
"I’ll wait as long as you want."
Ruby smiled against his forehead, then kissed it once more.
"Good ghost."
