My Gacha System: Starting with a Divine Talent Tree.-Chapter 29: The Ravencourt Town [6]
A man stood close to the girl, he who was grinning widely.
"...Yerrick."
He pushed the girl aside, knocking her out cold as he walked toward them.
"I knew some rats escaped." He grunted, cracking his neck. "Mirth was right."
Eden’s gaze hardened as he stared at Yerrick’s face.
"...Mirth already knows we escaped the prison?"
Eden couldn’t help but feel doubtful of Rinea who was still frozen near the door.
"...Is there something like a camera that I missed?"
He swallowed hard as he took out his twin axe-chains, keeping his posture low.
Yerrick raised a brow at the sudden appearance of the weapons.
"I knew you rats were hiding something." He grinned, cracking his knuckles. "Now, you get back in your cage with a few broken bones, or you lose a limb fighting me."
"Eden." Abel’s firm voice echoed within the congested room. "Support me."
Saying so, he quickly rushed toward Yerrick barehanded.
The man didn’t even lift his guard.
He simply stepped forward and met Abel’s punch with his own palm.
BAM—!
The sound rang within the room as Yerrick grabbed his fist and pulled him closer.
Bam!!
Yerrick’s head blasted into Abel’s face, making him dizzy for a second.
Abel quickly clenched his jaw as he pulled himself away.
But Yerrick didn’t let go; he quickly rushed close and delivered a crushing hook to Abel’s ribs.
WHUMP—
The blow sent Abel sliding across the dusted floor.
≤You are an apprentice rank, he is Adept. He is a whole rank above you, keep that in mind.≥
Eden nodded his head at Seraph’s words as he rushed in.
He whipped one of his chain-axes into a tight arc, hurling the blade toward Yerrick’s exposed flank.
Yerrick barely glanced at it.
With a simple twist of his torso and a lazy shift of his forearm—
CLANG—!
He deflected the blade as if swatting aside a loose branch.
The force of the clash rattled Eden’s wrist, numbing his fingers.
Yerrick chuckled.
A deep, grounded sound that carried absolute confidence.
"A little toy won’t save you, boy."
Eden clenched his jaw and pulled the chain back, letting the second axe spin into his hand.
He darted left, hoping to draw Yerrick’s attention away from Abel, but Yerrick didn’t fall for it.
He moved like someone used to fighting faster enemies.
Eden only blinked and Yerrick was already in front of him.
Eeden barely had time to react as Yerrick’s fist swung in a brutal hook.
BAM—!
Eden threw both axes up to block the strike.
The impact sent a shockwave through his entire body and his knees almost buckled.
"Not bad," Yerrick murmured. "But your arms will snap long before mine get tired."
Before Eden could recover, Yerrick’s leg shot out, striking him in the stomach.
THUD—
Eden doubled over, choking on air, stumbling backward and skidding on the stone floor.
Abel was already moving, forcing himself past the pain.
He pushed off the ground and sprinted toward Yerrick again.
Yerrick didn’t budge at the sight of him.
He caught Abel’s wrist with lightning precision and twisted it sharply.
Crack—!
Abel’s breath hitched, pain flashing in his eyes, but he didn’t slow.
He drove his knee upward, striking Yerrick’s thigh.
A clean hit.
Yerrick grimaced slightly—the first sign of irritation.
"Annoying," he muttered, jerking Abel forward and slamming an elbow into his temple.
Abel collapsed onto one hand, struggling to stay upright as blood dripped from the side of his head.
Eden forced himself onto his feet, breath ragged.
"He’s not just stronger... he’s trained in close combat."
≤He is an Adept who specializes in hand-to-hand combat. He will outmatch you in every direct exchange.≥
Seraph’s voice rang sharply in Eden’s mind.
≤Adapt. Or die here.≥
Eden tightened his grip on the chains as he exhaled deeply.
"I need your help, Tosin."
Eden’s shadow twisted and a face appeared on it.
Tosin quickly recognized the situation and immediately got involved.
"Try to aim at his joints." Tosin spoke in Eden’s mind. "Follow my lead."
Eden drew in a deep breath as he lowered his stance, clamping down on his emotions.
Yerrick turned back with a grin and Eden immediately dashed forward.
"So the little rat wants another round? Fine. Come on—"
Eden didn’t let him finish.
He flicked his wrist and one of the axe-heads shot out low, skimming the ground.
Yerrick moved to parry, but Eden wasn’t aiming for his ribs.
The blade wrapped around Yerrick’s ankle. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
"Annoying brat,"
Yerrick muttered, yanking his leg back, but Eden pulled first, using his entire body weight, pulling with all his strength.
Yerrick staggered, losing his balance just enough for them to take advantage.
"Abel!" Eden shouted.
Abel, still bleeding from his temples, rushed toward Yerrick.
"AHHHH!!!"
Abel roared, jumped up, driving a sharp kick into the back of Yerrick’s knee.
THUD—!
The Adept dropped to one knee, a snarl ripping from his throat.
"You little—!!"
He lunged upward with terrifying speed.
Eden barely had time to cross his chains in front of him.
CRASH—!!
Yerrick’s uppercut collided with Eden’s guard, sending the boy flying backward into a wall.
Eden ignored the pain that burned throughout his body as he rushed back again.
"STAY THE FUCK DOWN!!"
Yerrick roared, swinging a broad hook, but Eden slipped under it, sliding to the right.
His axe-blade whipped upward, striking the tender nerves just inside Yerrick’s elbow.
THWACK—!
Yerrick hissed, arm jolting open involuntarily.
Abel was already behind him.
He launched upward and slammed both fists into Yerrick’s shoulders like hammer blows.
Yerrick actually bent forward from the force as he groaned in pain.
≤Bring me close to his face.≥
Eden looked down at the necklace that was Seraph in disguise.
He looked up at Yerrick who was getting a hang of himself.
Eden quickly moved, grabbing both of Yerrick’s hands with an iron grip.
The necklace morphed, turning into something otherworldly.
Yerrick’s eyes widened in horror as the face of a dragon appeared right in front of his face.
Seraph opened her mouth and a blast of cold ice shot forward.
Frost clawed across his skin in jagged blue veins, freezing one eye shut, whitening half his jaw.
Yerrick screamed. "AHHHHH." A hoarse, guttural sound ripped out of him as his head jerked backward.
He staggered wildly, the force of the blast throwing him off balance.
Eden grabbed his axe by the handle and immediately moved around Yerrick.
He put the handle of the axe around Yerrick’s neck and pulled with all his strength.
The axe-handle cinched around Yerrick’s throat, biting deep against the tendons.
Eden grabbed the chain and wrapped it tight, grinding into his frozen skin.
Yerrick cried for help as one hand tried to move the chain while the other swung wildly behind him.
"Let! Go!" he roared, his voice cracking under the strain.
Eden gritted his teeth and leaned back harder until his muscles screamed.
Yerrick thrashed like a cornered beast as Eden hugged him from behind.
Eden jerked, making the chains even tighter around his neck.
"JUST DIE ALREADY!!!"
Eden roared as he twisted his hips, braced his entire weight backward, and wrenched the chain with brutal finality.
CRRK!!!!
A sharp, sickening crack echoed through the chamber.
Yerrick’s entire body seized in one violent jerk... then he went limp.
Eden fell down on the side, breathing like a dying animal.
His gaze turned toward Abel who had Rinea taking care of him.
She tore her own dress to stop the bleeding.
"...Fuck them."
Eden immediately felt bitter as he let out a sigh.
