My Gluttony System: I Devour God-Tier Talents-Chapter 43: Cold Beginnings
Location: The Foundation
District: The Academy Dome
Area: Dormitory and Loungings
Time: 4.AM
Kyrie stepped down from a transporter, his hands wrapped around a bulging bag.
He flung the bag over his shoulder but it was at the expense of his back..At this point one might be confused if he was still the one pulling the bag or the reverse was the case.
"That witch "
Kyrie cursed under his breath. Earlier in the day Desirae was the first thing he saw when he woke up.
He expected her to have left in the morning, exactly like Negan but this woman was an Anomaly.
She forced him out of bed and had been taking him around Teknologia all day. They went with her from office to office.District to district where the papers for his stay were processed and signed.
You would think she was a good and responsible guardian. What is he complaining about.
Her acts of responsibility was by no means the source of Kyrie’s disdain. He appreciated those and was hoping to meet the academy orientation speech when the witch activated.
Desirae was insistent that they had to go shopping again and whatever outfits he must have brought from Strevus were definitely sub par. Kyrie protested but it was Desirae.. he couldn’t even hope to change her mind.
With her claims of being a good guardian . They found themselves at the Central dome and literally wasted the rest of the day there.
The shopping that was meant for Kyrie was hijacked by Desirae. Who he swore bought a million pairs of shoes and Kyrie was late for his first day with no apology.
Her spree wasn’t just for herself but for Kyrie as well. The source of his struggles now is a massive bag of clothes that announced him like a mama’s boy.
Kyrie still dragging the bag along had so much in there he could start a black friday sale and still have stock for another year.
It was a good thing and yes he might be slightly grateful to her but it resulted in his discomfort and him arriving late to the dormitory and room assignment exercise.
He was definitely sleeping on the streets if all rooms were taken. No way he was going back there.
.....
Kyrie sighed, looking upwards, where he saw a military airship. It reminded him of Negan being in the military prior.
He smiled thinking how the man would look in a navy blue uniform.
While they were exploring the malls, Kyrie had taken the opportunity to send a message across to Negan about his day and how Desirae was after his life.

Kyrie sighed. He was done reminiscing and gloating. He entered the academy dome through the gates and at first glance realized the dome was larger than he imagined.
There was a ginormous clock tower framed with brass, metal and what seemed like ebony. It stretched upwards and acted as the centre of attraction.
Around this massive clock tower, smaller buildings spread out all around. They were like children gathered around their father.
There were Lecture halls, training arenas, laboratories and the dormitories. Connected together by elevated walkways and motion bridges.
The students could be seen all around the dome. Some chatting while others trained in the open training grounds.
Kyrie noticed the distinctiveness amongst them. Some had pointed ears while others had tattoos around their bodies.
They didn’t look nor feel like strians. This was what she meant by other dimensions. Kyrie thought.
The academy uniforms were black on black with brass buttons, silver trimmings and tiny pocket watches attached with silver chains on each uniform.
He took everything in. Rushing to the dormitories if the registration wasn’t closed yet.
The crowd could have barely notice him if not for the bulging bag. It announced him and his struggles.
A few glances suddenly turned to multiple murmurs and trailing eyes.Kyrie didn’t ask for directions and only followed the signs and his intuition.
Kyrie arrived at the building and it was smaller than the others, but still impressive. Four stories of beautiful architecture that truly adhered to the aesthetics.
Right at the entrance, a mecha-bot was stationed analyzing each student that passed as if storing their data.
Kyrie walked past it and to his greatest surprise the lobby was still crowded.
Praise the heavens he thought, a sigh of relief escaping his mouth.
There were new and old students that moved between the stairs and hallways, luggages floating behind some of them via telekinesis while some others struggled like him.
Kyrie looked around and noticed a desk near the back of the lobby, staffed by a woman in a crisp uniform and a short line in front of her.
Her hair was tied back tightly, and her eyes flicked over a ledger as students approached.
Kyrie walked closer and stood in line still trying his best to make his bag look comfortable.
Finally, it got to his turn.
He approached tthe desk causing the woman to raise her head.
"Name?"
"Kyrie Shaw." He answered immediately.
She looked carefully at the ledger, her finger tracing down the pages.
"Room 237. Second floor. Your roommate should be there already."
She handed him a gold plated key with the room number engraved on it.
Kyrie took it as he spoke.
"Thank you"
Before heading up.
—-
Room 237 was located at the end of a narrow hallway and the door was already open. Kyrie stepped inside and found a young man unpacking near the bed at the far end of the room.
He was shorter than Kyrie, his brown hair looked messy but it complimented his chocolate complexion.
There was a nervous energy that radiated from him.. Something that Kyrie quickly noticed.
The room itself was simple. Two beds, two desks, two wardrobes. A single window that gave a view of the training area.
The young man looked up as Kyrie entered, his face lighting up with a smile.
"Hey there mate, Guess we are roommates."
He walked over, extending his hand.
"Milo Reeves. Nice to meet you."
Kyrie glanced at the hand, then back at Milo’s face. He looked as indifferent as possible before shaking his head.
"Kyrie."
Milo’s smile didn’t falter, but he noticed it. Fully aware of the coldness in Kyrie’s expression and tone.
He pulled his hand back and gestured toward the empty bed.
"That one’s yours. I took this side, but if you wanna switch, that’s still fine mate"
"I like this one better," Kyrie said as he set down his bag on the bed much to his own relief.
Milo nodded, stepping back toward his side of the room.
"So, uh, where are you from?"
Kyrie opened his bag and started unpacking.
"Strevus."
Milo’s eyebrows creased.
"Strevus? That’s... rough. I’ve heard stories."
Kyrie didn’t respond. He was trying to see through the boy’s intent without using his skills.
Milo sensed the lack of interest and shifted his approach again.
"I’m from a merchant family. Not noble or anything. We live in Astria and my family have been saving up quite a lot since the concept of coming here was introduced to them. A way to safeguard my future."
He laughed nervously.
"No pressure, right?"
Kyrie glanced at him.
"Definitely "
He was literally forced out of Strevus so he couldn’t really relate.
Milo paused as he nodded slightly.
"Okay. Well, I’ll let you settle in."
He turned back to his desk, where he had already arranged a stack of books.
Kyrie continued unpacking in silence as it seemed the clothes Desirae bought were like the bottom less abyss.
If only she just gave me the crowns for all this he thought.
After a few minutes, Milo spoke again, his tone more cautious.
"Testing starts tomorrow. You heard about that, right?"
Kyrie set his scarf on the desk.
"Yeah."
A white lie on his part. He was running around in the central district with Desirae during the orientation speech.
"Three parts, they said. Class, Potency, and Rank." Milo’s voice turned casual.
"I’m not sure how I’ll do. My Reserve is decent, but my Potency’s... average."
Kyrie didn’t respond. He didn’t actually know what the boy meant but he knew he definitely wouldn’t have a problem after the spite with Rudolf.
Milo glanced over his shoulder.
"What about you?"
Kyrie picked up a black trousers, looking beside it to meet Milo’s gaze.
"I’m sure I’ll be fine."
Milo hesitated but he was surprised by the man’s confidence.
"Yeah. I’m sure you will."
He turned back to his books, and focused there allowing silence to take over again.
Kyrie was finally able to reach the end of the Abyss as he finished unpacking.
Ding!
The sound echoed in his mind.
Kyrie’s eyes looked to the corner as he took off his shoes to lay down.
[Environment recognized: Academy grounds.]

[ General Quest: Active ]
Kyrie’s jaw tightened.
As he dispelled the screen while staring at the ceiling of the small room. His hands rubbing on the ruby pendant on his neck,. praying to sleep. Looking forward to a chance to prove his worth in this new world.
