Chapter 31: Dealing with a Harem Can’t Be That Hard... Right?

A couple of days had passed since Mark and the girls began planning the restructuring of the dungeon’s lower floors.

And now Mark was on the eighth floor, making the final adjustments.

Mark raised his hand, focusing his power, and watched as the stone walls shifted and reorganized according to his will.

The dungeon responded to his commands like an extension of his own body.

A hidden pit trap formed in the center of the corridor, the stone floor splitting and reconfiguring itself.

Spikes emerged from below — sharp and perfectly positioned.

’Perfect.’

Mark moved on to the next section, creating a narrow passage that would force intruders into a bottleneck, ideal for an ambush.

He visualized the structure in his mind and then brought it into reality. The walls shifted inward, narrowing the corridor until it was barely wide enough for two people to walk side by side.

’Anyone who makes it this far will have to pass through here. And when they do, Ely or Yuki can ambush them from above.’

Mark looked up at the ceiling and raised his hand again.

Stone platforms emerged from the walls — hidden ledges where his subordinates could wait in the shadows.

’Good. That should work.’

But as he worked, he couldn’t help feeling tired.

’I’ve been doing this for three days straight... no wonder I’m exhausted.’

Mark had been at it non-stop because for those last three days, all he had done was plan the dungeon’s general upkeep.

As well as talk with Ely and Aria about how they should divide responsibilities within the dungeon — and deal with something Mark hadn’t anticipated, though he hadn’t expected it to surface quite so soon.

The friction between the girls.

Ely and Aria had been bickering constantly about who should patrol which floors, who should handle intruders first, and who got to stay closest to Mark.

And that wasn’t even counting the small chaos Cali caused every time she laid eyes on him.

The demon had made it her personal mission to flirt with him at every available opportunity, which triggered jealous outbursts from Ely and Aria without fail.

Mark sighed inwardly as he continued modifying the eighth floor, placing traps and ambush points for anyone who made it that far.

’Apparently managing a harem is harder than managing a dungeon...’

As Mark focused on setting another trap, he suddenly felt someone approach from behind and wrap their arms around him.

Mark went still for a moment, caught off guard.

’What the—?’

Mark turned his head and saw Cali, her golden eyes sparkling with mischief as she pressed herself against his back.

Her body was warm, and he could feel every curve pressed against him.

’Of course it had to be her.’

Over the past few days, Cali had developed the habit of hovering around Mark whenever she had the chance, finding excuses to touch him, hug him, or simply stay close to him.

It drove Ely and Aria absolutely mad.

Yuki, on the other hand, remained her usual self — calm and observant.

Though Mark had noticed she seemed a little pensive lately, her gaze distant when she thought no one was watching.

’She’s probably uncomfortable living in the dungeon where she died. I should talk to her about that later...’

Mark’s thoughts were interrupted when Cali spoke, in her usual playful and provocative tone.

"What are you doing, Master?" she purred, resting her chin on his shoulder.

Her breath was warm against his ear.

Mark cleared his throat, trying to ignore the sensation of her body pressed against his.

’Focus... don’t get distracted.’

"I’m following through on the plan to finish the dungeon restructuring once and for all," he said, attempting to maintain his sovereign tone.

Cali hummed thoughtfully, her tail swaying lazily behind her.

"You’ve been working so hard, Master," she said, her voice softening. "You should take a break. Let me help you... unwind."

Cali’s arms tightened slightly around him and she leaned in closer.

"Have you thought about my offer?" she asked, dropping her voice to a sensual whisper. "The one I made when we first met."

Mark remembered Cali’s little introduction — which had certainly left no one indifferent.

’Honestly, I’d love to, but—’

Mark cut that thought off immediately and quickly scanned his surroundings to make sure they were alone.

’Please let Ely and Aria not be nearby. Please.’

Mark looked left.

Empty corridor.

Mark looked right.

And then he saw her.

Aria was walking toward them from the far end of the passage.

And she looked extremely furious.

Her face was twisted in a scowl, her fists clenched at her sides, and her eyes practically blazed with rage.

’Damn.’

Mark immediately decided to stay completely silent.

’If I say anything right now, I’ll only make it worse... and I’m too tired for that.’

Aria advanced toward them with obvious fury, her footsteps echoing hard through the stone corridor.

"GET BACK TO THE TASKS I ASSIGNED YOU!" Aria shouted, her voice bouncing off the walls.

Cali released Mark from her embrace and turned to face Aria with an innocent smile that was clearly fake.

"Oh, Aria~" Cali said sweetly, tilting her head. "I was just checking on the Master. He’s been working so hard, you know?"

"I don’t care!" Aria snapped. "You’re supposed to be patrolling the seventh floor, not bothering the Master!"

Cali pouted, her tail drooping slightly.

"Fiiineeeee, I’ll get back to my duties right now~" she said in a voice that was shamelessly provocative.

But before leaving, she turned to Mark and kissed him directly on the lips.

It was quick — barely a second — but it was enough to light Aria’s jealousy like a fuse.

Her lips were soft and warm, and Mark caught a taste of something sweet like honey.

’Oh no.’

Cali pulled back with a satisfied smile, her golden eyes gleaming with mischief.

"See you later, Master~" she purred, then walked away, deliberately swaying her hips with every step.

Aria, meanwhile, looked like she was about to explode.

One of her eyes had a small twitch, her hands were trembling, and Mark could have sworn he saw steam coming out of her ears.

"GET OUT OF HERE ALREADY!" Aria shouted after Cali, her voice shaking with rage.

Cali simply waved a hand over her shoulder without looking back and disappeared down the corridor, humming to herself.

Mark, having finally finished the last details of the restructuring, sat down on a nearby rock, exhausted.

’I need a break... maybe even a vacation. Do dungeon lords get vacations?’

Aria immediately turned toward him, her anger replaced by concern in an instant.

"Master, are you alright?" she asked urgently, kneeling beside him and placing her hands on his shoulders. "Is that demon still bothering you? See? I told you we should have executed her."

Mark had to make a superhuman effort not to laugh.

’She’s not bothering me. She’s just... very direct. And honestly, I don’t mind.’

Mark kept a straight face and answered calmly.

"I’m just tired from the restructuring," Mark said, leaning against the stone wall and closing his eyes. "Small changes aren’t a problem, but large-scale modifications drain a lot of my magical power."

Creating traps, moving walls, redesigning entire corridors — all of it put a significant drain on Mark’s mana reserves.

And he had been doing it non-stop for three days.

Aria’s expression immediately shifted to concern, her anger forgotten entirely.

"Are you hurt?" she asked urgently, moving her hands to check his face, his arms, his chest. "Do you need to rest? Should I call Ely? Or Yuki? Do you need water? Food? Medicine?"

Mark blinked as Aria pelted him with questions, her hands frantically searching him for any sign of injury.

"I’m fine, Aria," Mark said, gently taking her hands to stop her. "I just need to rest a little."

But Aria didn’t seem convinced.

"Are you sure, Master?" she insisted, her eyes scanning him for any sign of exhaustion or injury. "You’ve been working non-stop for three days. You need to take better care of yourself. What if you collapse? What if something happens to you?"

Mark sighed, squeezing her hands gently to calm her.

"I’m fine, Aria," he said softly. "I’m just tired and hungry... that’s all."

Aria’s expression softened a little, though she still looked worried.

"Then you should rest," she said firmly. "No more work today. I’ll tell Ely and Yuki you’re done for the day."

Mark nodded, too tired to argue.

"Thank you, Aria."

She smiled, though with a lingering touch of concern.

"Of course, Master... I’ll always look after you."

As Aria continued fussing over him — adjusting his cloak, checking his temperature, asking if he needed anything — Mark’s thoughts began to drift.

’I’m absolutely starving.’

Using so much magical power had left Mark completely drained, and now the only thing he could think about was food.

’I wonder what Yuki is making for dinner.’
