Qin Zhiyou knew, he was not saying it for himself, but for Lu Weixi to hear.

The person Lu Weixi valued the most was her mother. After all, her mother had just returned from a brush with death because of anger stirred up by her. Lu Weixi wished she could stay by her mother’s side 24/7 and would not let anyone or anything upset her mother, much less keep her mother from seeing her.

Qin Zhiyou glanced at Lu Weixi. Although she didn’t say anything, he knew full well that an explanation would be pointless now. It could even put her more on the spot. Hence, he just quietly looked at her and then nodded. “Okay, I understand. I will leave the room.”

Before Qin Zhiyou left, he glanced back one more time at Lu Weixi’s mother, lying in bed, and also at Zhao Zihao.

Months ago, he first met Zhao Zihao at N University. At that time, Zhao Zihao was just an unremarkable doctor, but Qin Zhiyou was a bit uneasy because he seemed a little too intimate with Lu Weixi.

Later, at the hospital, he met Zhao Zihao a couple of times. He seemed pretty down-to-earth at first. But, the name of the fisherman who first found his father’s corpse, which slipped out of Zhao Zihao’s mouth, bothered Qin Zhiyou quite a bit!

He later found out that a neuro-oncologist in the American Oncology team he sought out did bear the same name. Qin Zhiyou, however, couldn’t accept that it was just a mere coincidence.

After that, Qin Zhiyou walked out of the surveillance room first. He stood outside watching Lu Weixi’s mother still holding her daughter’s hand, eyes filled with earnest longing.

Despite being separated by a glass door, he couldn’t hear what was being said, but he knew that Lu Weixi’s mother was probably directing her daughter to leave him!

However, Lu Weixi didn’t stay much longer and had to follow the rules and leave after only a few words.

Zhao Zihao also exited the room with her. Qin Zhiyou stood by the door and saw Zhao Zihao whispering something to her. His voice was gentle, without a trace of provocation, making him seem like a perfect gentleman.

After leaving the ward, Zhao Zihao didn’t linger much. He just stated, “I will stay in the hospital for the next few days. If anything happens, I will be there at once. You can visit Aunt Lu anytime, just look for me in the doctor’s office. 24-hour access will be granted for you.”

“Thank you.” Lu Weixi nodded.

“It seems you’ve been pulling all-nighters for a few days now. You should go home and rest a bit earlier today. Fighting cancer is a long process, not just for the patient, but also for the family.”

“Thank you.” Lu Weixi nodded again.

As Zhao Zihao was leaving, his gaze fell on Qin Zhiyou. But he only glanced quickly, then gave a light smile, took his eyes off Qin Zhiyou, returned to Lu Weixi, and his facial expression went back to its calm demeanor. “I won’t disturb you further. I’ll take my leave first.”
