My husband Can Cultivate-Chapter 308: Yang Qi’s Gift!
As Cao Kun finished speaking, the Barbaric Beast retracted its aura and stood motionless. The oppressive pressure vanished, and everyone could finally breathe easier.
"We pay our respects to Family Head Cao!" the crowd exclaimed, rising to their feet in unison to welcome him.
Cao Kun stood there, possessing an imposing air without being angry. The Barbaric Beast was ferocious, but Cao Kun himself was far more terrifying. One shouldn't be fooled by his plain, farmer-like appearance. When he flew into a rage, the result was truly horrifying.
Many people sighed inwardly upon seeing Cao Kun and the Barbaric Beast. It's over. The Cao Family is going to take the entire pie of Kang City for themselves. Trying to snatch food from the Cao Family's maw… that's practically courting death.
"Has the owner of the Qifei Group arrived?" Cao Kun asked coldly.
Silence was his only answer. No one knew who the owner of the Qifei Group was. He was a complete mystery, his identity unknown to all. There were plenty of theories but no proof.
"It seems he isn't here. Is there no representative from the Qifei Group, then?" Cao Kun pressed.
Still, no one responded.
"Hmph! Such arrogance, to dare refuse my invitation!" he snorted.
"I imagine they're too afraid," Song Wulin said with a laugh. "With you here, Family Head Cao, how could the Qifei Group possibly dare to show their faces?"
"Fear? What is there to fear?"
Just then, a man strode into the hall. It was Iron Heart.
"Who are you?" Cao Kun asked. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"You invited the Qifei Group for the sole purpose of intimidating my master," Iron Heart stated calmly. "I have come on his behalf to deliver a gift to Family Head Cao."
"Master? Is your master Yang Qi?" Cao Kun asked, his brow furrowed.
"That is correct. My master is Yang Qi," Iron Heart proclaimed. "My master said your invitation was impolite, so he will not be attending. However, he still sent me, his humble servant, to deliver a grand gift. I'm sure you will love it!"
The crowd was in an uproar. How presumptuous! Every other family and company had sent their top leaders upon receiving the invitation. Even Zhao Xiong, the City Lord himself, had come in person. Yet Yang Qi had sent a mere servant! This was the height of arrogance, a complete and utter show of contempt for Cao Kun.
Cao Kun's expression darkened. "Hmph. Does your master have any idea what the consequences are for provoking me? Sending a servant… Are you trying to humiliate me?"
"If you wish to interpret it that way," Iron Heart replied, "you are not wrong."
"Insolence!" Song Wulin cursed. "You piece of trash! How dare a mere servant act so brazenly here? Men! Break his legs and throw him out!"
"Wait," Cao Kun said, raising a hand. "I'm curious to see what kind of gift Yang Qi has sent me."
Although his tone was level, Zhao Xiong and the others broke out in a cold sweat. Yang Qi's actions today are a clear declaration of war against the Cao Family. But Cao Kun is not someone you can afford to provoke. The man is a lunatic, a lunatic with terrifying combat power!
"Catch!"
From a hundred meters away, Iron Heart tossed a meter-long box toward Cao Kun. Without another word, he turned and walked away. "The gift has been delivered. I will take my leave now."
Before anyone could react, he had vanished into the night. The gift was clearly not a pleasant one, so Iron Heart naturally made a swift exit. If Cao Kun were to fly into a rage, there was no telling what he might do.
BOOM!
Cao Kan caught the massive wooden crate.
"Open it," Cao Kun ordered coldly. He knew it couldn't be anything good, but he had to see what it was.
"Yes, sir!" Cao Kan replied, prying open the lid. His expression changed instantly.
Those in the front rows who saw the contents of the crate were so horrified they nearly stopped breathing. The people further back didn't know what was happening, but they didn't dare make a sound.
Cao Kun's eyes turned a deep, bloodshot red. Inside the crate lay a corpse—the corpse of his son, Cao Xingyun. It was covered with a white cloth, upon which a message was written in stark characters: "Keep causing trouble, and you can join your son in hell!"
"BASTARD!" Cao Kun roared, spitting out a mouthful of blood.
The sheer arrogance! How could he possibly endure such a blatant provocation? His son, Cao Xingyun, had been missing, and he had clung to a sliver of hope. But now, that hope was extinguished. His son's body had been returned to him. This was tantamount to a confession from Yang Qi himself.
Previously, Yang Qi had kept the matter a secret, fearing retribution from the Cao Family. But now, things had escalated to a point where the Cao Family would pursue him regardless. There was no longer any reason to hide the truth.
"Family Head, let me go and slaughter that bastard Yang Qi! He's gone too far!" Cao Kan roared.
Sensing its master's fury, the Barbaric Beast beside him began to roar wildly. Everyone fell silent. They could feel that Cao Kun was on the verge of unleashing a terrifying slaughter. A storm of blood was about to wash over Kang City. The terrifying storm was about to arrive.
Yang Qi had successfully enraged Cao Kun, turning him into a crazed bull ready to charge.
Taking a deep breath, Cao Kun suddenly broke into a wild, roaring laugh, his fury twisting into mirth. "HAHAHA! Guts! He has some real guts! Someone tell me, who in the hell is this Yang Qi?!"
"He's very strong. He defeated Second Young Master Cao Xingjian in a single move."
"He seems to have ties to the Lin and Ye Families of Jingzhou!"
"I heard he also has connections to the Lei Family of Thunder City!"
"The man is an enigma. He was once an up-and-coming young entrepreneur in Kang City, but he went bankrupt and was nearly killed. Strangely, just a few months later, he resurfaced. Not only did he eliminate all of his old enemies, but he somehow acquired terrifying abilities!"
The comments flew, each containing a piece of the truth, but none painting the full picture. Ultimately, no one in Kang City truly understood Yang Qi.
"City Lord Zhao, I hear you are quite close to this Yang Qi. What is your assessment of him?" Cao Kun asked.
"You want the truth?" Zhao Xiong countered.
"Of course, I want the truth!" Cao Kun replied.
"If you want the truth, then I advise you, Family Head Cao, to abandon all thoughts of revenge and leave Kang City immediately. You cannot afford to make an enemy of Mr. Yang."
Zhao Xiong spoke from pure intuition. He had once thought Yang Qi couldn't possibly provoke Li Chong or the Kangshan Sect, yet Yang Qi had single-handedly destroyed them both. He was beginning to believe that Yang Qi was a man who created miracles and that even Cao Kun would be defeated.
What?! Cao Kun and everyone else were stunned.
Yang Qi is powerful, yes, but could he possibly be stronger than Cao Kun? Isn't the City Lord exaggerating things?
"Mr. Yang is a divine figure!" Yan Bo spoke up as well. "Family Head Cao, you are indeed powerful, but against him, you don't stand a chance. As an old acquaintance, I also advise you to leave. Do it while you still can."
"You too?" Cao Kun's brow furrowed deeper. He didn't think they were spouting nonsense. Could it be that this Yang Qi truly is that extraordinary?
"Let me put it this way," Du Le'an chimed in. "Never mind the Cao Family; if you offend him, even the Thunder Sect couldn't handle the consequences! Mr. Yang is not to be provoked."
