My husband Can Cultivate-Chapter 349: Young Master Chuyun Arrives!
"Who he is has nothing to do with you anymore!" Chen Guo looked at Chen Baixiang with bitter disappointment. "It seems I've been far too lenient with you all this time, allowing you to develop such a haughty personality. Do you think I, your own grandfather, would ever harm you? Could the man I asked you to receive possibly be an ordinary person? If he were, I would have just found someone else to host him. Would I have bothered you? You should use your head for once!"
"I thought you were trying to set me up with him, Grandfather," Chen Baixiang said. "That's why I was so resistant!"
"Set you up with him? Are you joking? It's true you're my granddaughter, but I'm not trying to belittle you when I say this: you're not even worthy of the dead skin on his heels. Set you up with him? I'd be more worried about offending Mr. Yang." Chen Guo shook his head. "My hope was that you could forge a positive connection, so that if you ever truly need it in the future, Mr. Yang might help you. Oh, you foolish girl. How much longer do you think I'll be around? When I'm gone, who will protect you? You truly understand nothing, spending all your days running around with that pack of scoundrels."
"Wang Teng said he's just an unemployed drifter, so what skills could he possibly have? And the news reported that he's abusive and steals patents! Chairman Song wouldn't just make things up, would he?" Chen Baixiang was still unconvinced.
"That's why I say you know nothing. That old fool Song Ruize is heading for disaster this time. If you don't believe me, just wait and see. After the Elixir Medicine Conference, he's certain to be stripped of his post. Not only that, but he'll likely be utterly disgraced and end up in prison. And that Wang Teng—what kind of person is he? How can you possibly believe a word he says? There are some things I cannot explain in detail because Mr. Yang does not wish to reveal them. But you must remember this: you can't judge a person by their appearance, just as you can't measure the ocean. You have to use your own mind to see the truth," Chen Guo said earnestly.
"But it's still a fact that he just attacks people, right? Even if he's very capable, I could never be friends with someone who resorts to violence at the drop of a hat. There has to be a place for reason in all this," Chen Baixiang retorted, still not convinced.
"Heh, reason?" Chen Guo scoffed. "Miss Zhu clearly saved that Mrs. Zhang, yet she turned around and falsely accused her rescuer. Was that reasonable? That man, Fat Tiger, tried to assault Miss Zhu. Was he being reasonable? You, with no evidence whatsoever, decided Mr. Yang was a reckless troublemaker. Were you being reasonable? Reason? Are you still living in a fairytale? Let me tell you, sometimes, you can't even believe what you see with your own eyes. I advise you to use your head and think things through before you act. Stop judging people's character with your own ridiculous moral compass."
Chen Guo let out a cold laugh. "There, I've said all I'm going to say. I'm only wasting this much breath because you're my granddaughter. If it were anyone else, I couldn't be bothered to say a single word. Now, I'm leaving. I'm going to find Mr. Yang."
Chen Baixiang watched him leave.
Maybe I was wrong. But being young and proud, she ultimately couldn't swallow her indignation. She ran to the security room to check the monitors, determined to prove herself right. But after watching the footage, she realized she had been terribly, completely wrong.
That Mrs. Zhang... she deserved far worse. And that Fat Tiger... I can't even imagine what would have happened if that had been me. Would anyone have come to rescue me? She could vividly picture the despair Zhu Benxiu must have felt.
THUMP!
Chen Baixiang collapsed to the ground and burst into tears. She wasn't a bad person by nature, just incredibly conceited, arrogant, and self-centered. She had subjectively decided Yang Qi was a problem, and so she assumed he was the cause of every issue. In the end, she was the one who was proven a fool.
「The Finalists' Lounge」
Zhu Benxiu finally explained her situation to Yang Qi and Lei Yingying.
Yang Qi chuckled. "And here I was thinking it was something serious. What's the point of looking for that old dog, Song Ruize? I'll help you two out after the Elixir Medicine Conference is over. I know you still doubt whether I have that kind of power. Don't worry. After you see the conference finals, you'll understand."
"Alright, I'll do as you say!" Having been rescued by Yang Qi twice, Zhu Benxiu now trusted him completely.
「Elsewhere」
Chen Baixiang emerged from the security room. Tian Lili hurriedly grabbed her hand. "Stop crying! So what if you offended that guy? What's the big deal? Young Master Chuyun Xiong will be here soon. He's a man of quality from Kappa Country, not like those classless men from Dragon Country. They don't deserve the women of Dragon Country at all. Seize your chance later. As long as you win over Chuyun Xiong, you can have the Young Master deal with that boy! He'll be the one crying then! Not even Lei Yingying will be able to protect him!"
"Exactly, Bai Xiang. That guy is nothing special. He's just a pretty boy being kept by Lei Yingying," Zhang Gong sneered. In his eyes, the only possible reason Lei Yingying would back Yang Qi so strongly was that she was his sugar mommy.
Chen Baixiang sighed. "We might have really misunderstood him." She then recounted what she had seen on the security footage.
"Misunderstood?" Tian Lili scoffed. "I don't see any misunderstanding. Let's say he *was* telling the truth. So what? What right does a commoner have to enter such a high-class establishment? If he and that tramp Zhu Benxiu hadn't shown up, none of this would have happened! If you ask me, that slut Zhu Benxiu was the one who seduced Fat Tiger. She's no good. A cracked egg is what draws the flies! Why didn't Fat Tiger go after any other woman? Why her? Why didn't Mrs. Zhang accuse anyone else? Why her?" Tian Lili's tone was completely self-righteous. In her eyes, the elite could do no wrong, and commoners could do no right.
The key was that everyone else cheered in agreement.
"Well said!"
"She's right!"
"It's all the fault of those two lowlifes!"
"Otherwise, none of this would have happened, and our Bai Xiang wouldn't be crying!"
Even Zhang Gong, a teacher, said the same.
This is the first time I've ever felt so out of place. She thought completely differently from them. I may be arrogant and self-righteous, but when I'm wrong, I'm wrong. How can any of this be blamed on Yang Qi and Zhu Benxiu?
Just as she was about to speak, a commotion erupted up ahead.
"He's here! Young Master Chuyun Xiong has arrived!"
Chen Baixiang sighed, deciding not to say anything more. No one would listen to her now anyway; they were all fixated on the entrance.
"That's Young Master Chuyun Xiong of Kappa Country for you! A developed nation! Just look at that entourage, that aura! How could Yang Qi possibly compare?" Tian Lili said sarcastically. "Bai Xiang, it doesn't matter if you can't outdo Lei Yingying. As long as Young Master Chuyun Xiong takes a liking to you, you'll easily have her beat in the future."
Chen Baixiang nodded in acknowledgement of that point.
A young man walked in, followed by a dozen others. He carried an extraordinary air, and his followers were clearly all masters of their craft.
