Chapter 130: Chapter 130

Valentina stepped out of the bathroom, a fresh bandage wrapped gently around her wrist. The tension had faded a little, and Raymond had insisted they stop by for treatment before going home. Now, finally back in their living room, she curled up on the couch beside him, tired but comforted by his quiet presence.

At that moment her phone buzzed.

She reached for it without thinking, unlocking the screen.

And immediately she froze.

Her eyes widened as she stared at the headline:

"Sebastian Group Declares Bankruptcy — Assets Frozen, Company Liquidated."

Valentina sat upright immediately. "What?"

Raymond turned toward her, alert. "What is it?"

She didn’t speak for a second, just handed him the phone. "Sebastian’s family company... they’ve gone bankrupt. Liquidated."

Raymond stared at the screen, keeping his expression neutral.

Again Valentina turned to him, her brows knit tightly. "How? How does a company like theirs just crash like that? Sebastian I saw today didn’t look like someone about to lose everything."

She searched his face. "What really happened? Did they offend someone? Did they cross a line?"

However Raymond shrugged slowly, returning her phone with a calm expression. "I don’t know," he said. "That’s the first I’m hearing of it too."

Immediately Valentina looked down at the screen again, still stunned.

Then Raymond leaned back slightly, hiding the flicker in his eyes. He didn’t lie—he just left out the part where he’d already expected it. He had seen the arrogance in Sebastian’s eyes, the way he walked like the world owed him respect.

They thought they could bully people with a name alone.

then they messed with the wrong person, now they were learning the cost.

Raymond leaned forward slightly, resting his arms on his knees, eyes still on the news as if he were trying to make sense of it.

"Well," he said calmly, "now that they’ve lost it all, let’s see what they’re going to do."

Valentina looked at him, still trying to process what she was seeing. "But how? I mean... I heard their family had deep investments, connections. Big names behind them."

"I heard GSK cut off all ties," Raymond replied. "Investment withdrawn. Projects canceled. Apparently, they did something—something really bad. That’s what I picked up."

Hearing Raymond words Valentina’s mouth parted, stunned. "Wow."

She leaned back into the couch, slowly shaking her head. "A company like Sebastian’s... a family name that strong, going into liquidation just like that?"

Her voice dropped, still in disbelief. ƒгeewebnovёl.com

"I wouldn’t have believed it if I didn’t see it with my own eyes. Just a day ago, they were walking like nothing could touch them. And now..."

At that moment she paused.

"It’s like all the money in that company just vanished."

Raymond nodded once. "That’s how I saw it too. But don’t stress yourself over it. It’s their loss. Not yours."

He looked at her, a small smirk tugging at his lips.

"Sebastian liked to brag. Let’s see what he brags about now."

However Valentina didn’t smile. Her heart still felt strange—like the news hit harder than she expected.

But after a moment, she exhaled and looked away.

"He’s not my business anyway," she said softly. "Whatever happens to him and his family... I really don’t care."

Valentina rested her head back on the couch cushion, staring at the ceiling, quiet for a while.

"I don’t care," she whispered again, but the words came out softer this time—less certain.

Then she sat up slowly, her voice shifting, filled with unease. "But Raymond... what if GSK can do the same thing to Sterling Design?"

Raymond turned to her, frowning slightly. "What do you mean?"

She looked down at her hands, twisting her fingers together.

"I mean..." she paused, thinking through it.

"Avery said they have someone inside GSK. Someone who can help them get that ten-billion-dollar contract. That’s not small talk."

However Raymond didn’t speak. He let her continue.

"If her family really has that kind of access," Valentina said slowly, "then they’re not the kind of people we should underestimate. Sterling Design is affiliated with GSK too. So if someone like Avery feels threatened or disrespected... what if she pulls strings and gets Sterling Design involved in some internal mess?"

Immediately She looked up, her voice steadier now but still worried. "I don’t want anything to happen to the company. It took me too long to get here. I don’t want anyone—no matter how close to me—doing anything that can bring harm to Sterling Design."

At that moment Valentina turned to face Raymond fully now, her eyes filled with concern, her voice low and trembling.

"Please, Raymond," she whispered. "Let’s just stay out of it. That class get-together... we shouldn’t go. I’m scared. I feel like Avery is planning something, no she’s planning something."

Raymond’s brows lifted slightly, but he didn’t interrupt her.

"She saw what happened to Sebastian’s family. That happened in a single day," she went on. "If GSK can wipe them out like that, just imagine what they could do to Sterling Design if someone pulls strings against us."

Her voice cracked slightly. "I worked too hard to get here. I don’t want to lose it. I don’t want anything to happen to the company... or to us."

For a moment, Raymond was quiet.

Then... he smiled.

Softly. Calmly. That kind of smile that made everything else fade away.

He reached out and gently tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear, his fingers brushing lightly against her cheek. "Valentina... you worry too much."

Immediately she looked at him, confused but still anxious.

"As long as I’m here," he said warmly, "as long as I’m breathing... nothing is going to happen to you."

He shifted closer, his hand now cradling the side of her face, his thumb stroking just beneath her eye.

"You don’t need to fear Avery. You don’t need to fear anyone."

"Avery can’t even breathe without permission," he added with a small smirk. "Let alone move a finger."

Hearing Raymond words Valentina tried to smile, but her heart was still pacing.

Raymond leaned in a little more. "It’s not bragging. It’s just facts. Let your work speak. Let your proposal do the talking. Focus on that contract, not on her."

She nodded slowly, her eyes softening.

"I believe you," she whispered. "But I’m still scared..."

However Before she could say anything more, Raymond’s hand slid down gently to her shoulder, then around her waist, pulling her into his chest as he pressed a soft kiss on her forehead.
