Chapter 138: Chapter 138

But Avery wasn’t done. "No, actually... that’s not all."

Immediately Liam sighed. "Then say what you want to say."

"I saw Valentina yesterday," she said, dragging out her words slowly, just to catch his reaction. "At the hospital."

However he didn’t speak, but she could feel the tension rise slightly through the silence.

"She looked... different," Avery continued. "And her husband was with her. Tall, confident... not exactly what I expected. Anyway, I told them about the class get-together. And guess what?"

At that moment Liam still said nothing.

"They’re coming," Ivory said with a sly tone. "Valentina is coming... and her husband too. Since this year’s event allows you to bring your fiancé, wife or husband, they’ll both be there."

Immediately Avey’s voice came through the phone again, light but pressing. "So, Liam... just to confirm. Are you coming or not? I need to know the number of seats to reserve. it’s that Simple."

But Liam wasn’t listening to her anymore. His mind had drifted into deep thought.

’So that bastard’s really coming with Valentina?’ he thought, his jaw tightening slightly. ’He thinks that place is for low-class people like him?’

He scoffed internally. He knew their classmates. Most of them were already running major corporations or were born into families with billion-dollar assets. Some of them were even bigger than him in business. But that wasn’t the point.

He couldn’t believe Raymond must be thinking because of that small drama he pulled at the car dealership, he thinks he’s somebody now? That he can stand toe-to-toe with people like us?

Liam leaned back, a bitter smile tugging at his lips.

This is the perfect opportunity, he thought. To deal with him once and for all. To make Valentina realize she made the biggest mistake of her life.

"Hello?" Avery’s voice snapped him out of his thoughts. "Liam, are you even listening? Are you coming or not?"

Liam gave a small, sharp nod to himself. "Yeah," he replied coolly. "Book my seat. I’m coming."

Immediately Avery heard what Liam just said, a slow, satisfied smile crept across her face.

She didn’t respond right away. Instead, she tilted her head slightly, eyes narrowing with quiet triumph. ’I knew it,’ she thought, her lips curling.

’I knew that the moment I mentioned Valentina and that man of hers, Liam would bite. That bait never fails.’

She gently tapped her long fingernail against the armrest of her chair, still smiling to herself. The plan was moving exactly as she envisioned. Now that Liam had agreed to come, she had secured another heavy hitter. That was all she needed—just one trigger. more man with the same level of grudge she carried.

Sure, there are others in the class who are even wealthier than Liam, she thought. But they don’t matter right now.

’What I need is someone who will humiliate Raymond without blinking. And Liam? He’s the perfect weapon.’

Avery leaned back, her voice now low and pleased as she whispered to herself, "With Liam in... and the others watching... this is going to be beautiful. Let’s see how long that Raymond can keep his little mask on."

Avery’s smile widened the moment the call ended. She leaned back into her chair, arms folded, eyes glinting with quiet satisfaction.

"I knew it," she muttered under her breath. "Once I used Valentina and that Raymond as bait, Liam would definitely take the bite."

At that moment her fingers tapped lightly on the armrest, already picturing the scene. Liam, with his ego, won’t sit and watch Valentina parade around with a man who looks like he crawled out of nowhere. She chuckled softly. This time, that bastard Raymond is going to regret ever stepping into their circle.

She had him now.

Liam ended the call and tossed his phone onto the leather couch beside him. His jaw clenched, and he slowly stood up, fists tightening by his sides.

He walked over to the tall window in his room, glaring out as if Raymond’s reflection might appear in the glass.

"Valentina..." he hissed under his breath. "You chose him, that good for nothing fool?"

He couldn’t believe the same bastard had the guts to embarrassed them at the car dealership, the same guy people once called jobless? And now he was calling himself her husband and he’s going to say it publicly at the get together.

Liam’s chest tightened with fury.

"You think you can just walk into our circle, flaunting a woman who everyone thinks was once mine?" he thought bitterly. "You think because you showed off once, you’re now better than all of us?"

Immediately he scoffed.

"This time," he whispered, "we’ll show you where you truly belong."

His face hardened. No hesitation. No second thoughts. freēnovelkiss.com

He was going to that get-together now.

At that moment Liam then sat down slowly, elbows resting on his knees, his fingers laced tightly together. His eyes were dark, filled with calculations and simmering hatred.

He had tried everything—subtle calls, casual gifts, planted rumors, chance meetings. Yet, none of it had worked.

"What’s really happening?" he muttered to himself. "Is she really falling for that fool? That bastard?"

The thought made his blood boil. Raymond. Always so calm, always pretending as if nothing touched him—as if he was better than all of them.

Again Liam stood up sharply and paced across the room. "This get-together," he whispered, "this is the perfect opportunity."

He didn’t care how much it would cost. Even if it meant throwing fifty million dollars into the wind, it would be worth every single naira just to humiliate Raymond in front of everyone. Make him look like the cheap, struggling fraud he was.

"Let’s see how long you’ll keep up that charade," Liam muttered, his eyes narrowed. "You’ve been pretending to have it all. But I know the truth. You’re just trying to keep up, and I’m going to crush you in front of her."

This wasn’t just about revenge anymore.

It was about pride. Power. Control, and he wasn’t going to lose again.

Immediately Liam grabbed his phone off the table and dialed one of his private bankers.

"Get me a new black card," he said coldly.

"I want it activated today."
