My Infinite Cultivation System-Chapter 63: Horror of the prime sanctuary
Alex was sitting inside the cave, leaning against the rough stone wall, staring at nothing.
This Prime Sanctuary situation was completely out of his control now.
To get out of here, he would have to build a stronghold. A real base. A place that could survive constant monster attacks.
But how the hell was he supposed to do that when a nine headed galactic hydra was casually roaming the mountain range like it owned the place?
Build a stronghold?
Was he supposed to play hide and seek with that thing?
His jaw tightened.
This place was insane.
Frustration boiled inside him, but there was nothing he could do right now. His brain was tired from calculating survival odds that kept ending in death.
At some point, he closed his eyes.
Sleep took him.
He did not know how long he had been out when a heavy sound dragged him back to consciousness.
Thud.
Thud.
The ground vibrated slightly.
Alex’s eyes snapped open.
He stayed still for a moment, listening. The sound was slow and heavy, like something massive shifting its weight.
He stood up carefully and stepped outside the cave.
And then he froze.
His breath was almost taken away.
Not because of fear.
Because of how unreal the scene looked.
The night sky was dominated by three moons.
One was glowing purple, casting a faint violet glow over the mountains. One was green, its light spreading like mist over the forest canopy. The last one was crimson, sharp and intense, turning the clouds into streaks of blood colored light.
The entire mountain range looked different under that light.
Butterflies drifted through the air with glowing wings, leaving faint trails behind them. Mushrooms on the forest floor were lit from within, like tiny lanterns scattered across the ground. The rocky cliffs reflected the mixed colors of the moons, making everything look both dangerous and beautiful at the same time.
It was terrifying.
It was stunning.
"Man... this place isn’t that bad after all," Alex muttered with a soft smile.
For a moment, he forgot where he was.
He thought of Anna.
If she saw this, she would lose her mind. She would run around like a kid, pointing at everything. The thought made him smile slightly.
Then reality returned.
"I need to leave the Prime Sanctuary. My people’s lives are at stake."
His expression hardened.
"But this place is also perfect for growth. Hunting monsters here will let me break through much faster. If I rely only on the system, it will take years just to advance one level. I need to at least reach planetary level before I go back."
Another distant thud echoed.
He focused his eyes.
There it was.
The nine headed bastard was moving through the valley, each massive head swaying independently. Even from this distance, the pressure it gave off was suffocating.
He had no intention of going near it.
Instead, he activated his skill.
Spirit Animal.
Mental energy separated from his mind and shaped into small spectral creatures. Tiny birds. Small crawling beasts. Barely visible in the night.
He sent them out in different directions to scout.
There was no way he would risk scouting personally. Who knew what kind of nightmare would appear out of nowhere?
The spirit animals began moving silently across the terrain.
And then.
Boom.
Something slammed into the ground right in front of him.
The impact shattered stone and sent debris flying.
Alex instinctively jumped back.
A huge crimson mantis stood there.
Its body looked like burning metal. Bladed arms folded in front of it. Its eyes glowed with violent intent.
An intense wave of bloodlust crashed over him.
"How did it find me?" he thought.
A panel appeared in his eyes.
[Name: Flame Mantis
Talent: Flame Control (A)
Rank: Planetary Level 5
Note: Rogue monster. Very common in this mountain range.]
Alex almost laughed.
A planetary level monster was common here.
What kind of hell was this place?
The mantis opened its mouth and a fiery whip like tongue shot toward him.
"Run."
He did not hesitate.
Teleportation activated instantly.
He vanished.
The fiery tongue lashed through empty space where he had been standing.
Five kilometers away, Alex reappeared between two rocky ridges.
He exhaled sharply.
Teleportation did not consume much energy, but it was putting stress on his body.
He was about to sit down when every hair on his body stood up.
It felt like something ancient was staring at him.
He had teleported randomly.
He did not use divine sense to scan because if stronger monsters felt it probing, they would immediately detect his location.
But here, that caution might kill him.
Slowly, he turned around.
A gigantic serpent was coiled behind him.
Its body was massive. One coil alone could wrap around a ten story building from top to bottom. Dark scales reflected the moonlight. Its eyes were cold and sinister.
Another panel appeared.
[Name: Mega Serpent
Talent: Poison Breath (SSS)
Rank: Star Realm Level 9
Note: Poison is corrosive. Can melt a normal planetary being.]
Alex’s throat went dry.
"Now I understand why surviving here for twenty four hours gives Absolute Reality level talent."
He teleported instantly.
The serpent lunged with terrifying speed. Its jaws snapped shut right where he had been.
He reappeared five thousand kilometers away this time.
That jump forced him to grit his teeth.
His body was beginning to feel the strain.
He looked around.
There was something here too.
But this time, he relaxed slightly.
It was a lion.
About the size of a car. Thick muscles. Long saber teeth. Compared to the mantis and serpent, it looked almost normal.
The system panel appeared.
[Name: Sabertoothed Lion
Talent: Physical Enhancement (SS)
Rank: Beast Monarch Level 9
Note: Can enhance strength up to eight times.]
It was still technically stronger than him.
But after seeing planetary and star realm monsters casually roaming around, this thing felt almost cute.
The lion stared at him.
After sensing that it was stronger than its prey, it roared loudly.
It thought it had found easy food.
"Huh? You think I’m easy prey, punk?" Alex snorted. "Let me show you. Realm isn’t everything. Talent is king."
The lionthough.t forward.
"Gravity."
Five thousand times gravity activated instantly.
Boom.
The lion slammed into the ground.
Its bones crushed. Flesh burst. Its body flattened into meat paste in less than a second.
Alex blinked.
He did not expect it to die that easily.
"What the heck?", he thought.
Then it clicked to him.
The natural gravity of this place was already at least one hundred times stronger than Earth.
Multiply that by five thousand.
And his gravity control worked at molecular level.
Of course it could not survive.
The lion never had a chance.
A smug expression appeared on his face for a second.
He immediately shook his head.
"Pride will only cloud my thoughts."
He chose this location for now. If a Beast Monarch could survive here, then stronger predators were probably not nearby.
He sat down and took out food from his space ring.
Under the three moons, surrounded by monsters that could erase him instantly, he started eating calmly.
Far away, something roared.
The Prime Sanctuary was alive.
Alex chewed slowly, his eyes were thoughtful.
"What kind of evolution will the system will have?"
If he survived this place, he would not just get stronger.
He would become something else entirely.
