My Infinite Cultivation System-Chapter 80: Ancient Humans
A heavy silence lingered in the dim chamber where the air itself seemed thick with restrained power. The figure standing at the center of the stone platform looked almost human at first glance, yet the illusion collapsed the moment one noticed the curved horns rising from his temples and the enormous wings folded behind his back like a cloak of darkness.
His skin carried a faint charcoal hue, and his eyes burned with a quiet crimson light that made even the shadows appear restless. Before him, a subordinate was kneeling.
"Master, the human race survived," the kneeling figure said in a voice that carried both caution and reluctance. "We lost the mission. What will you do now?"
The horned humanoid did not react immediately. He simply stared forward for several seconds, as if considering not merely the words spoken but the countless possibilities hidden behind them. Eventually a faint, almost amused smile curved across his lips.
"We were summoned to this planet with a very specific condition," he replied calmly. "Our purpose was to destroy the human race without directly attacking them. That rule still stands, and because of that rule we have not yet failed."
The kneeling subordinate lifted his head slightly, confused by the confidence in his master’s tone.
"You mean we still have another chance?"
"We have many chances," the horned creature answered while spreading his dark wings slightly before folding them again. "The humans have survived one stage of the plan, but survival is not victory.
For now don’t contact with those immortal bastards. I hate their guts."
The subordinate nodded obediently.
"Understood, master. Then what is your next command?"
The horned being turned his gaze toward the distant horizon beyond the ruined structure where they stood. Even though mountains and oceans lay far beyond that horizon, his eyes seemed to pierce through the planet itself.
"That islanhasot far from here had several extremely powerful creatures," he said. "One of them has already approached the threshold of what this world calls the Star Realm. Such a creature is capable of disturbing the delicate balance that currently exists on this planet."
"You want us to eliminate it?" the subordinate asked.
"No," the horned creature replied with a quiet chuckle. "Elimination would be far too direct, and it would violate the restrictions placed upon us. Instead, you will provoke chaos on that island. Disturb the ecosystem, influence the creatures, and encourage them to migrate. When powerful beings begin to move, the entire planet will inevitably follow."
The subordinate hesitated briefly before speaking again.
"As you wish, master, but we are still only planetary level beings. Causing chaos among creatures that powerful might not be easy."
The horned creature slowly turned around and began walking away as if the conversation had already ended.
"We are devils," he said without looking back. "We rely on intelligence far more than brute strength."
With those words, his figure gradually faded into the shadows of the ancient structure until the subordinate was left alone in the vast chamber.
Far away from that hidden location, Alex stood on the edge of a cliff while watching the settlement below him. Hundreds of people had already begun working to create the base cities.
However, the calm did not last long.
Without warning the ground beneath his feet began to tremble violently. The distant mountains shook as if some enormous force had struck the planet from beneath its crust, and the sky itself seemed to vibrate with a low rumbling sound that echoed across the entire region.
Alex frowned immediately.
"Rafael, what is going on?" he asked.
Inside his mind a calm mechanical voice responded.
[An ancient ruin is resurfacing. It is one of the largest structures among all the ruins scattered across this planet.]
Alex’s eyes narrowed slightly as he considered that information.
"What exactly are these ruins?" he asked with genuine curiosity.
[The ruins are remnants of previous civilizations that once existed on Earth. Some of them belong to ancient human societies that developed long before recorded history, while others were built by extraterrestrial civilizations that maintained contact with early Earth for purposes such as trade, research, and cultural exchange.]
Alex raised an eyebrow in surprise.
"How do you know all of that? I thought you said you could not see inside the ruins."
[That is correct. I cannot directly observe their interior structures. However, the planetary laws themselves contain traces of historical information, and I can extract limited data from those records.]
Alex remained silent for a moment as he processed that explanation. The idea that the planet itself carried memories hidden within its natural laws was still difficult for him to fully understand, but he had already witnessed enough impossible phenomena to accept it without argument.
"Interesting," he said quietly. "Then tell me something else. Can you find out whether any creatures possess time related talents?"
The question had been lingering in his mind for a long time. Many forms of power existed within the universe, yet the manipulation of time itself remained one of the rarest and most mysterious abilities imaginable.
[The probability is extremely low.]
"Low?"
[Or Zero. I guess the universe doesn’t bestow time related talents]
Alex felt a faint shock at that statement. He had expected the ability to be rare, but he had not imagined it might be almost impossible to obtain.
Alex exhaled slowly while staring at the distant horizon.
After a moment another thought suddenly appeared in his mind.
"Rafael, can you connect with the law of the Prime Sanctuary?"
The system remained silent for several seconds before answering.
[That would require a level of existence far beyond your current state. If you were to evolve into what can be described as a meta existence, then it might become possible. According to my theoretical calculations, the beings who govern the Prime Sanctuary had already transcended conventional concepts of space and time. Their abilities may have approached omnipotence.]
Alex immediately stopped speaking. He had not even reached the level of a true planetary being yet, and the idea of confronting entities capable of transcending space and time was clearly beyond his current capabilities.
[You should investigate the ruin that has just emerged. I am detecting several ancient life forms in its vicinity. Their presence is hidden from the planetary laws, which means their exact strength cannot be measured.]
Alex felt his curiosity ignite immediately. Unfortunately, he could not simply abandon his current position without protection.
He thought for a moment before calling out quietly.
"Wu Cong, come out."
A massive shadow appeared beside him as a towering ape like creature materialized from thin air. Its fur was white as snow and its eyes glowed faintly with intelligence.
"I will apply spatial stealth to you," Alex said calmly. "Remain here and guard this place. Do not move unless a planetary level threat appears."
"As you command, master," Wu Cong replied respectfully.
Within seconds Alex concealed the creature within a fold of space where ordinary beings would never notice its presence.
After completing the arrangement he activated his system ability.
"System, bestow me the feedback strength."
A violent surge of energy exploded through his body.
The force felt like a tidal wave crashing against every cell of his existence as raw planetary power poured into his veins.
[Strength: 1.8 Planetary Level]
Alex slowly clenched his fist, and the surrounding air distorted as faint cracks appeared in the space around his hand.
He nodded with satisfaction.
"Good."
Moments later his figure vanished as he activated spatial stealth and launched himself into the sky at a speed of twenty thousand meters per second.
The journey lasted only a few minutes.
Eventually Alex arrived above a barren region where enormous monsters wandered aimlessly across the wasteland. Most of them possessed the strength of high level emperor class creatures, yet none of them seemed aware that something far more dangerous had entered their territory.
A gate could be seen in the middle of the empty land.
Two humanoid figures stepped out while examining their surroundings.
"This ruin belongs to the Mecha Race," one of them said. "We should inform the Overlord immediately. He will need every possible source of support now that the planet has been locked."
The second figure nodded.
"Yes. If the seal remains active much longer, our situation will become extremely difficult."
Neither of them realized that another presence was observing them silently from the folds of space.
Inside Alex’s mind the system displayed detailed information.
[Name: Logan Casey
Race: Ancient Human
Martial Spirit: Sabertooth Tiger (9 Star)
Rank: Void Realm Level 9
Combat Prowess: Martial Emperor Level 9
Note: Member of the Ancient Human race. This species was among the earliest powerful civilizations on Earth and cultivated through the Martial Spirit system.]
[Name: Yan Tian
Race: Ancient Human
Martial Spirit: Mammoth (8 Star)
Rank: Void Realm Level 5
Combat Prowess: Martial Emperor Level 5]
Alex watched them with obvious fascination.
"So they really are ancient humans," he murmured quietly. "And they follow a completely different cultivation system."
[Now that their internal energy patterns have been analyzed, I can confirm the origin of their methods. The system they practice originated from a supreme race within the universe known as the Immortal Race.]
Alex’s interest immediately increased.
"The Immortal Race?"
[Yes. Their cultivation methods allow practitioners to perform powerful mystical techniques that cannot be achieved through ordinary martial systems. The structure of their innate energy is fundamentally different.]
Alex scratched his chin thoughtfully.
"So they are basically using a cultivation style similar to those legendary immortal stories," he said. "Interesting."
He paused briefly before asking another question.
"I am a transmigrator. Do you think I could follow their system as well? I would not mind obtaining a martial spirit."
[There is a possibility. Your body appears capable of aligning with multiple forms of energy for reasons that remain unclear.]
Alex smiled faintly.
"I do not necessarily need their entire system," he said. "I only want a martial spirit and a few answers."
The next moment both men standing near the gate suddenly froze.
Their bodies refused to move as an invisible force locked them in place.
A calm voice echoed behind them.
"Hello, friends."
