Now, similar to Ulric’s Prestige Class, Titan Breaker, the young man possessed a Unique Class of his own. The Hero King.
His stats didn’t change much, but he gained a new Unique Class Ability called Heroic Aura [EX]. His Tongue of Beasts had also upgraded to an [EX] skill.
Heroic Aura was a wide-area buff that could be toggled on and off. Right now, it remained off since Leone had yet to activate it.
Leone uncontrollably let out a small sigh. This Unique Class Ability was incredibly useful. But the best part was that it was still Level 1. That meant he could upgrade it using BP!
What tickled the young man’s funny bones was the skill called Heroic Aesthetic. Having his cape flutter even without wind? That would certainly make him look cool when used in the right situation.
"Daedalus, I realized I don’t have any skills aside from Tongue of Beasts," Leone scratched his head. "Doesn’t that make me look pitiful?"
"Well, that’s why I opened the Hero King’s skill tree for you," Daedalus explained. "Since you’re now Rank 1, you can finally acquire Rank 1 Skills of your choice."
Daedalus highlighted the recommended Rank 1 skills currently available to the young man in the list it displayed in front of him.
———
Weapon Mastery (Choose any Weapon)
Weapon Skill (Will depend on your chosen Weapon)
Magic Skill (Any Rank 1 Skill)
Hero War Cry
———
Aside from Hero War Cry, which granted allies increased morale and immunity to the Fear status debuff, the other three skills were completely up to Leone.
"Hmm... what weapon should I use?" Leone had never specialized in weapons. But he understood that he couldn’t always stay safe at the rear, where it was safe, while his people fought for their lives.
Of course, he also knew the Alborin Tribe wouldn’t let him join the front lines as it was common knowledge that he lacked combat skills.
’Should I use a bow like Yuni?’ Leone quickly shook his head at the thought. Bow and arrow didn’t really suit his style.
"Can you recommend a weapon that fits me, Daedalus?" Leone asked.
"Usually, the standard weapon heroes use is the sword," Daedalus replied. "But for you... polearms might be better."
"Polearms..." Leone rubbed his chin while deep in thought.
The advantage of polearms was their reach. From the humblest quarterstaff to the mightiest halberd, a polearm allowed its wielder to strike enemies while keeping a safe distance.
"Also, you might charge onto a battlefield with your banner. If you learn how to wield polearms, you can use the banner as a weapon if you have no other choice," Daedalus explained. "In the past, there was actually this young lady who’d always carry a white banner into battles.
"She used to say she loves her banner forty times more than a sword. While she hasn’t actively killed people, she always leads the army to battle, raising their morale and showing she was with them all the way."
"She sounds quite heroic," Leone said with admiration.
"That she is." Daedalus agreed. "She was very brave, and all the soldiers adore her."
"Very well. Let’s choose the polearm as my weapon of choice, then!" Leone declared.
He wasn’t really a fighter. But if he could rally his people and raise their morale by leading them to battle, he would be willing to do it despite the danger.

[You have chosen Polearm Mastery]
[You have chosen the skill, Polearm Guard]

Instead of offense, Leone decided to focus on his defense. Survival was the priority, after all.
"For magic skill, it’s best that I choose a healing skill, right?" Leone asked Daedalus. "I don’t like getting hurt, and I don’t like my people getting hurt. But if it’s inevitable, I don’t want it to last. A healing skill matches my preferences. Not to mention, no one in the Alborin Tribe can use healing magic."
"Healing magic is good." Daedalus agreed. "I’ll list all the Rank 1 healing skills you can add to your skill tree."
A Hero King’s Skill Tree was custom-built to complement its user. Now that Leone had chosen the polearm as his main weapon, the corresponding skills would be unlocked after he ranked up.
The same could be said for his healing skills as well.
As Daedalus displayed the list of healing skills, Leone checked their descriptions one by one.
After some deliberation, he settled for the most basic and most recommended skill among them all. The Heal skill.
There are other skills, like Healing Pulse, which could heal a group of people at once. It was one of his top options, but he decided against it since its healing effectiveness was lower.
Heal could only be used on one target, but it was stronger and more life-saving. Just as its name implied, it could cleanse and close up open wounds.
The effectiveness of the skill also depended on Leone’s Intelligence Stat. Right now, the skill was only Level 1, so it could only be used on a single target.
Leone could also level it up through constant use or by spending BP. Overall, it was a helpful skill in the long run.
’Not a bad start,’ Daedalus thought as it looked at the young man who had a wide grin after gaining some skills and abilities.
It truly hoped Leone could grow to his full potential and looked forward to the day he became the Hero King. The grimoire was sure that the Leone of then would touch the lives of others in ways even it couldn’t imagine.
