My Kingdom Building Done Right!-Chapter 55: Mind Your Own Business!
The approaching reinforcements made Ragan and Barka hesitate between fighting and standing down.
With the headcount of their enemies having reached half their number, they could no longer execute a one-sided massacre.
Neither recognizes Ulric as the latter looked younger and sharper than before. However, they could tell he wasn’t any ordinary warrior.
Not to mention, the monster he was mounted on eyed them like delicacy.
The two chieftains were very familiar with bloodlust and killing intent, which oozed out from the returned warriors of the Black Wolf Tribe.
Lynceus, in particular, looked at the two Head Hunters with bloodshot eyes, as if he couldn’t wait to hack them to pieces!
Fortunately, they didn’t delay their departure from the Grimjaw Mountain and traveled with as little rest as possible.
Had they been late by even five minutes, a tragedy might have befallen their tribe.
The warriors who had come with Lynceus shared the same sentiment. Although they were tired from their journey, their desire to kill was at its peak.
Their black wolves’ jaws dripped with saliva from both exhaustion and bloodlust. From the look in their eyes, they were ready for a massacre!
Ulric and his mount stood between the Black Wolf Tribe and the warriors of the Ashclaw and the Stormhorn Tribes.
Just like Lynceus, he was relieved by their timely arrival. Otherwise, Leone might have failed his mission to increase their population.
"What is the meaning of this?" Ulric asked, his tone cold and arrogant.
"Who are you?" Ragan asked. "This is a dispute between our tribes and the Black Wolf Tribe."
"That’s right!" Barka shouted. "You have no place here, whoever you are! Mind your own business!"
Ulric sneered. "But, I am minding my own business. The Black Wolf Tribe and my tribe have a history. Wait... actually, you guys also owe me an apology."
"Owe you an apology?" Ragna scoffed. "Don’t push your luck. This is the first time I’m seeing your bastardly face!"
Ulric laughed. No one recognized him at all. Well, he couldn’t blame them as he really looked different now.
"Since you don’t know me, allow me to introduce myself," Ulric declared. "I am Ulric of the Alborin Tribe! I have business with the Black Wolf Tribe, so if you don’t want me to settle the debts your two tribes owe me, then scram!"
The Blood-Crest Raptor he was riding on also roared in anger, making the horses of the two tribes almost bolt away in fear.
The five other raptors also roared at the same time, telling their leader they were ready to fight anytime.
But the raptors hadn’t been the ones to spook the warriors of the two tribes, but Ulric’s introduction. Their eyes widened in shock.
"U-Ulric?" Ragan gasped. "You’re Ulric?!"
"The one and only," Ulric grabbed his axe, which was strapped to the side of his raptor. "I’ll give you ten breaths to either fight or scram. Once I count to ten, and you’re still here, we will fight!"
Ragan’s and Barka’s faces turned grim as the chieftain of the Alborin Tribe started counting.
If they stayed to fight, many of them would die today.
If they left, they would become the laughingstock of the Borderlands.
They had come to subjugate the Black Wolf Tribe, but came back empty-handed. The shame they would carry after this day would haunt them for a very long time.
But seeing that the Black Wolf Tribe, the Alborin Tribe, and the warriors of the Riverfang Tribe seemed ready to duke it out with them, the two had no choice but to give the order to retreat!
"This is not over, Ulric!" Barka shouted. "You will regret this!"
"Of course, it’s not over," Ulric replied. "Didn’t you hear me? Your tribes owe me a debt, and I will collect it whether you like it or not."
Ulric’s level of hatred for the Ashclaw and Stormhorn Tribes was equivalent to his hate for Arlo. Right now, he wanted nothing more than to hack them to pieces.
But he could also look at the bigger picture. His priority was to evacuate the members of the Black Wolf Tribe back to the Grimjaw Mountain. There, they would find safety, at least for the time being.
As the two tribes made their retreat, cheers rang out from the Black Wolf Tribe. Although they did feel anxious as well. Ulric might’ve come for vengeance.
Fortunately, Lynceus explained this to their members, as well as Rufus, who acted as the leader of their tribe while they were away.
"Thank you for coming, Ulric!" Rufus said, enduring the shame that. After all, he was among the warriors who raided the Alborin Tribe in the Grimjaw Mountains.
"You should thank Jason," Ulric replied. "If not for him, I would not even trouble myself coming here."
Although he treated Jason as his nephew, that didn’t mean the grudge he harbored against the Black Wolf Tribe had disappeared.
They had suffered harassment, anxiety, and depression due to their actions. Forgiving them right away was impossible.
Even so, since the Great Chieftain had ordered him to carry out this mission, Ulric would do it even if he had to clash against the warriors of the Ashclaw and Stormhorn Tribe at the same time.
After discussing their plan to evacuate, the entirety of the Black Wolf Tribe moved as one.
Blitz ate some berries while perched on top of one of the tallest huts in the village. It was keeping a lookout for the possible return of the two tribes, who decided to observe their camp from a distance.
Ulric frowned. Leaving right now wasn’t ideal. Their mounts were tired from the long journey and needed some time to recover.
According to his estimate, the earliest they could leave was in the middle of the night, using the darkness to hide their departure.
The Black Wolf Tribe had a few wagons, but it would not be enough to accommodate everyone.
This meant that a good number of people would have to travel on foot, which was not an ideal option if they wanted to leave in haste.
Fortunately, Leone and Daedalus had a backup plan.
Ulric then walked toward the tribe square, where most of the warriors had gathered to discuss their countermeasures against a possible attack by the two tribes.
Seeing him approach, Lynceus gave Ulric a troubled look. "As expected, we don’t have enough wagons to take everyone with us. Even if we have the wagons ready, we lack several horses to pull them all."
Ulric nodded in understanding. "I understand. But you don’t have to worry about that. My Great Chieftain has already anticipated this situation. I will summon my familiar, but before I do, tell the villagers not to panic when they see a big bear appear."
Lynceus and the other warriors who had come to the Grimjaw Mountain were very familiar with Fury. They immediately told everyone not to be afraid of a bear that would appear before them because it was their ally.
After everyone had been warned, Ulric called his Familiar, and a magical circle appeared in front of him.
Fury appeared. It was about to roar to announce its presence, but Ulric hurriedly stopped it from doing so.
The tribe members were already feeling jumpy when it appeared. If it roared, wouldn’t they start pissing their pants in fear?
He then carefully took the grimoire strapped to the side of his familiar and whispered to it softly.
"I see," Daedalus replied in a volume that only Ulric could hear. "Take me to a spacious area. I will deposit the wagons there."
While Ulric and the rest were traveling to reach the Black Wolf Tribe, Daedalus had collected all the wagons that the Alborin and the Riverfang Tribe had used to get to the Grimjaw Mountain.
As for the mounts, Daedalus temporarily borrowed all the Raptors that had stayed in the Grimjaw Mountain.
They were Rank 2 Monsters, so pulling the wagons would not be a problem for them.
Yuni and Kael had also lent their Blood-Crest Raptors for this mission, which made Ulric sigh in relief.
Even if the Ashclaw and the Stormhorn Tribes decided to attack them, the raptors would become a huge help in battle.
A few minutes later, the members of the Black Wolf Tribe were shocked when they saw the wagons and the monsters appear at the back of their camp.
Lynceus and the other warriors couldn’t help but look at Ulric as if he were some kind of Deity who could conjure miracles.
Ulric only smiled faintly. He had the same exact reaction as them every time Leone did something out of the norm.
Now that he was the receiving end of such reactions, he once again affirmed that their happy-go-lucky leader was a blessing that fell on them from the heavens.
