My Kitsune System-Chapter 25: The Old Lady
Chapter 25 - The Old Lady
Wheezing on the bed, the old lady found it very hard to breathe. Every second was a struggle to stay alive, not just for herself but for her granddaughter who needed her around.
But the past few months proved to be too exhausting and almost pointless, as she felt more of a burden than a support.
It was only her and her granddaughter that were remaining in the world right now. And it would be sad if she left only her granddaughter alone to navigate the world.
But right now, she felt she was more of a burden than anything else. She lay in the room. Looking at the ceiling as usual as she waited for her granddaughter to be back. And then she heard movements within the room. It was almost time for her to come back, but then the old lady never heard the door click.
If the door never clicked that means, it must be someone else within the house. Her granddaughter would usually call out and come see her. But then this person seems to be taking a tour around the house.
Probably this would be for the best if this person does it. At least she won't resent me then for leaving. I have held on for as long as I could.
The old woman was thinking as she lay, as she waited for the burglar to come towards this room.
And if he finds nothing of value in the house, he might lash out or even take the medical equipment.
He might go out and sell those, either way, he ends up doing her favor. And helping her granddaughter to be able to go out and have a life of her own.
It will be better that way. The woman tried to convince herself.
The person now approached the room she was lying in.
Rampage, rampage she thought.
But the person stood still and didn't even touch anything. Instead, he stood looking around the room in search of something particular.
That makes it better maybe he was sent to get something in particular. If he doesn't find it he will lash out. Come on be quick and get this over with.
But then he spoke.
"I know you can see and hear me"
The old lady was a bit perplexed of course she could see him. So what does he mean can you see me? Is he mentally ill?

I don't want someone like that around when Penny gets back
Still hoping that the fellow would snuff the life out of her, she then noticed the shadows around the room started swirling around. They started forming an image on the wall as if to answer his call.
What is going on? Is this part of the side effects of the new drugs Penny got?
But then the shadows spoke. The voice sent a shiver down her spine. If she could feel her legs, she was sure they would coil up just hearing those words.
Her heart started pounding heavily against her chest. All of a sudden the room felt kind of hot. Or she was the one just feeling hot and suffocated?
The old woman didn't know which one it was.
The two then began talking as if negotiating. She heard about souls every now and then.
But is it really the drugs?
They talked, and it seemed the burglar had made a mistake, as the shadow laughed. Its laughter reverberated, it shook her bones.
She didn't know why but she just knew that even if she died. That shadow would still be able to reach her even in purgatory. So she knew she had no way to escape...
The shadow then began to condense and became physical. But as it did, she felt something being removed from within her. A burden was finally lifted. And she could breathe more easily now.
Her head felt more clear now right now. It wasn't hazy at all and she could see very clearly right now. And now she could see a bit under the hood. It was a fox mask.
And just when everything seemed to calm down. Voom!!! the fox-masked figure's hand whizzed past and grabbed the throat of the shadow. They seemed to have a few exchanges that her eyes could not keep up with.
But in the end, the fox-masked figure stood in between her and the shadow creature. As she looked at the two, she noticed something swaying from side to side behind the fox-masked figure.
Is it a real fox? A kitsune?
Click!!!
The key to the door was being twisted.
She's back already. They won't hurt her, would they?
She tried to move but her body didn't respond. She wanted to shout but then her voice was drowned within her throat as the sound wasn't allowed to come out.
And to make matters worse. A heavy pressure began descending on the room. As she looked at them, she could see the space around them getting distorted.
"Oh, no"
The hair on her body began to rise.
