My Life as a Farm Owner in a Thriller World-Chapter 120: Yucai Middle School 21
Before Dr. Jiang could speak, the principal's small, squinting eyes lit up when he saw him, and he immediately tried to stand up from the office chair.
But he was so overweight that his body was stuck in the chair, and for a moment, he couldn't lift himself free.
There was a loud "crack," and the principal somehow stood up while still perched on the chair, attempting to cross the desk and shake Dr. Jiang's hand.
Dr. Jiang quickly stepped forward on his own, reaching across the desk to grasp the principal's hand, preventing him from dragging the office chair over as he tried to come forward.
"Principal, you called me. May I ask what this is about?"
Dr. Jiang felt the slick, sweaty grip of the principal's hand and was slightly uncomfortable, but in front of him, he didn't dare reach for a tissue. He forced himself to resist the urge to adjust his glasses and kept his hand to the side.
The principal studied Dr. Jiang, trying to force a friendly smile onto his fat-laden face.
"Um... Xiao Jiang, you used to work in Mushroom Village, right?" the principal asked.
Dr. Jiang nodded lightly and replied with a smile, "Yes, but I think our school has better prospects."
"Mm, that's good." The principal, wiping the sweat streaming down his face with a handkerchief, responded cheerfully.
Seeing the principal seemed satisfied with his answer, Dr. Jiang felt slightly more at ease. Although he didn't understand why the principal was asking about his previous work, it didn't seem like there was any criticism.
However, the next moment, the principal asked, "Xiao Jiang, since you worked in Mushroom Village, you must know Ms. Wan, right?"
"Who?" Dr. Jiang was momentarily stunned, his mind struggling to process. He wondered if he had heard incorrectly.
The principal repeated, "Ms. Wan! The Ms. Wan from Dark Farm!"
This time, Dr. Jiang was certain he hadn't misheard.
Ms. Wan... Wait! The red banners recently hung around the school said, "Warmly Welcome Industrialist Ms. Wan to Our School."
Could it be that annoying woman? No, it didn't seem likely. Perhaps it was just a coincidence; they just happened to share the same surname.
Dr. Jiang was confident that the woman he had seen in Mushroom Village was just an ordinary human. He didn't know what method she had used to deceive the villagers there.
Regardless, even if she had escaped Mushroom Village, it was impossible for her to arrive at Yucai Middle School so quickly.
Moreover—Dr. Jiang glanced at the bookshelves lining the principal's office—this school was full of educated people, not naive villagers.
This Ms. Wan couldn't possibly be the same one.
Thinking this, Dr. Jiang politely shook his head at the principal, wearing a gentle, shy smile.
"Sorry, Principal, I don't know her."
"Don't know her? How could that be?!" The principal had been hoping Dr. Jiang could hold Ms. Wan off so he could report to the education bureau.
Seeing no other option, the principal decided, "Fine, it's okay if you don't know her! You go and entertain Ms. Wan!"
After speaking, the principal freed himself from the chair, crossed the desk, and pulled Dr. Jiang toward the third-floor reception room.
Dr. Jiang was completely bewildered. Who, entertain who? Am I supposed to entertain Ms. Wan?
Before he could process this, the principal pushed open the reception room door, his large, greasy hand shoving Dr. Jiang inside.
"Xiao Jiang, take good care of the guest. This is Ms. Wan, the owner of Dark Farm!"
Dr. Jiang stumbled slightly as he was pushed in but managed to stand firm.
He looked up, still trying to comprehend what was in front of him, when a familiar voice rang out:
"Eh? Dr. Jiang, what a coincidence! You're working here now?"
Wan Qian paused for a moment when she saw Dr. Jiang appear in front of her, then broke into a heartfelt smile and greeted him warmly.
Previously, Wan Qian had thought that Dr. Jiang was not only highly skilled in medicine but also possessed good medical ethics, and she had wished she could recruit him to work at the farm.
Unfortunately, after the earthquake in Mushroom Village, Dr. Jiang had disappeared. Now, it turned out he was working at Yucai Middle School instead. What a coincidence!
The principal, standing at the entrance of the reception room, overheard Wan Qian's words and felt a surge of delight.
"Hahaha," he said, slapping Dr. Jiang on the shoulder with his fan-shaped hand. "Xiao Jiang, you're not honest—you said you didn't know Ms. Wan! Just being modest, right?"
Dr. Jiang could only remain silent for a moment. After holding back for a while, he finally managed to squeeze out a question through his teeth: "How come you're here?"
Heh, she hadn't expected Dr. Jiang to actually care about her. Wan Qian felt even more certain that her first impression hadn't been wrong—Dr. Jiang truly was a kind and gentle person.
Even when meeting someone like her, with whom he had only exchanged a few encounters, he still managed to suppress his natural shyness and show a moment of genuine concern.
Wan Qian's smile deepened as she replied cheerfully, "I came to Yucai Middle School to take care of some matters."
Dr. Jiang watched her smile, noting the subtle curve of her lips, the confident tilt of her head—it was almost as if she were provoking him.
Some matters? What matters? Were they about to ruin his plans?
He had not expected to encounter this annoying woman again, even after leaving Mushroom Village.
Dr. Jiang clenched his teeth, his mind racing to figure out how to teach this infuriating woman a lesson. This time, at Yucai Middle School, there was no Dog God by her side.
The principal observed Dr. Jiang and Wan Qian talking amicably and felt pleased. "Xiao Jiang is now the school doctor here," he introduced. "He joined not long ago."
Wan Qian nodded in understanding, unable to resist complimenting him, "With a dedicated and responsible school doctor like Dr. Jiang, the students here have nothing to worry about."
A satisfied smile spread across the principal's chubby face. He had not forgotten the matter he needed to attend to and said to Wan Qian, "I'll leave Xiao Jiang to accompany you for a while. I have some matters I need to take care of."
"If it's urgent for the principal, you should go ahead. I'm not in a hurry," Wan Qian said politely.
Wan Qian watched as the principal hurriedly stepped out of the reception room, his bulky body getting momentarily stuck in the door frame before he finally managed to squeeze through.
She felt a twinge of admiration and sympathy—being a principal at a middle school was clearly no easy task.
Seeing him so busy every day, barely having a moment to rest, meeting her just now and already rushing off to handle school affairs, made her realize the weight of his responsibilities.
Yet, it was precisely because Yucai Middle School had such responsible leaders, teachers, and a dedicated school doctor that the school was able to continue improving and thriving.
Earlier, the housekeeper had mentioned needing to take Xue Tong out to handle some matters, and Wan Qian had agreed.
After the principal left, the office was left with just Dr. Jiang and Wan Qian.
