Chapter 128: Only 5 Dead?

Blood and flesh erupted out of the neck like a fountain, resembling those old PC games where cutting the neck caused a blood fountain.

Only that... this was real life, no game.

Vyra and her teammates were the most affected by that gruesome death, their hands flying onto their mouths as they choked out a few sobs.

They wanted to hide the face from the view, cut off the vision and manic screams of their teammates who were still targeted... Yet, their bodies refused to move.

Their battle instincts refused to turn away from a monster that could spell their doom if he wished so.

Aaron, Claire and the rest winced at the sight, lowering their heads and refusing to watch the gruesome spectacle that the mimic partake into.

One by one, he walked among the frozen humans like a grim reaper.

Their screams only fed into his ego, making him even more ecstatic as he chose the most painful methods for their deaths, making sure they screamed, cried and begged as much as their poor souls could handle.

Claire was regretting ever setting foot into the stadium, she thought that they could quickly hunt the tombats and leave. She underestimated the monster greatly, her greed taking the hold of her in the situation.

And now, her decision had caused the demise of 5 promising and talented youth, the 5 that had nothing to do with her and yet ended up dying.

Of course, she had witnessed enough deaths and went through enough shit that she didn’t let the guilt get a hold over her, but inside, her heart ached with each passing feminine scream.

She had already sent a distress signal to the UHRA, requesting the assistance of a high level raider to get rid of this monster, but who knew when they would come?

Both the police and government weren’t really known to be hasty when sending help.

"HELP ME!" Sena screamed, her body frozen into place so badly that even her mana refused to answer her calls.

Her head was tilted towards the group of 11 humans, 1 male and rest female, eyeing them all with the look of begging and pleading.

"VYRA, PLEASE, SAVE ME!" She sobbed, "I don’t want to die, please! Claire! You’re the one who caused this! It’s your fault you came in here! If you didn’t come we would’ve been safe! YOU GREEDY BITCH!"

Claire’s eyelids twitched at the words, her teeth clenching so hard that she was worried a few might even get chipped due to her own strength.

She wanted to save the woman too, help her... but she was powerless.

A hand suddenly fell over her back, stroking her back with a gentle rub that seemed to calm her down.

She looked at him gratefully, her eyes appearing teary as she nodded once and buried her face in his shoulders, refusing to listen or see the gruesome view anymore.

Sena continued to scream like a maniac, blaming Vyra, cursing Claire, begging for help from the rest...

And even in her last moments, her last words were for Claire to remember that she caused her death.

Not that Claire herself didn’t know of it.

And once Sena’s dying screams were silenced, each and everyone from the survivors were forced to look up, stare at the bony 7 feet tall man.

His grin was as wide and obnoxious as ever, the bloody eyes seemed to be affixed on them as if gloating and enjoying their distress, while his hands were holding onto Sena’s severed head.

"C...Catch~" he whispered in a low voice, sounding weak and pitiful as he tossed Sena’s head towards Vyra.

Fresh blood was sent splashing as the head spiraled in the air, splattering onto many’s clothes and making them flinch.

Vyra on the other hand struggled to remain silent, closing her eyes and catching the head without any fanfare.

Her gag reflexes came swinging at full force once the cold, dead part of body was in her hands but she resisted it as hard as she could, not giving the monster the satisfaction of watching her break.

She simply kept Sena’s head to the side on the grassy floor, her hands clenched into fists so tight that the knuckles appeared white.

There was nothing they could do except watch the mimic fiddling with the 5 corpses, his bare feet splashing blood each time he walked on the tiled floor of the entrance...

Time ticked by, waiting patiently as Vyra and Claire had already informed the authorities by sending a unique SOS message.

During this time Jaq made a huge mistake by taking out her phone, intending to contact someone she knew personally and had high connections within the government.

But, the moment the monster spotted the glow of her phone, he practically teleported right in front of Jaq’s face. Well, not teleported, but his speed was too high for anyone else to notice.

Jaq and everyone’s breaths were caught, their heartbeats getting faster and faster until the monster picked the phone from her hands and casually travelled back towards the corpses.

Maybe it was a result of his unusual thought process or an attempt to prove to them how easily he could kill them all if he wished so, no one knew.

But what they knew was, finally...

In the air high above the Gammora’s stadium, a helicopter whirred noisily, casting a huge spotlight at the entrance and brightening 12 silhouettes into existence.

"Only 5 dead? Are you sure this shit is worth my time, eh?" A cocky woman watched from the helicopter, her flaming red hair whipping in the wind but her face remained impassive.

"You are the only one capable of taking down that monster, ma’am." A soft spoken and gentle looking boy answered, fixing his tuxedo’s bow.

And looking down, he continued, "And it could be that they are smart enough not to speak in front of a mimic."

The redhead laughed, scoffing in amusement, "Hah, I wish. If these dumb fucks were smart enough, my work would’ve been much easier.

Oh well. Let’s go on a date after I’m done with this shit, yeah?"

The boy coughed, "As you wish, ma’am."

"How boring." The woman sighed, standing up from the helicopter and prying the gate open.

And without any more words... she jumped off.
