My Life In A Fantasy, Women-Dominated World-Chapter 130: Scarlet
The fight between the mimic and the unknown red-haired helper was going a little too fast for anyone to get a decent viewing experience.
Before they could blink, the two had already changed positions and performed actions that felt too fast for Aaron and the rest.
Yet Aaron had his eyes peeled on the ’fight’, watching how that sadistic monster tore out the heart of a woman and tossed it to the redhead just for the fun of it.
He also watched how the woman compressed an absurd amount of mana into a small fireball, launching it at the monster with precision.
And he had easily dodged the fireball, making Aaron sigh in frustration, only to notice the fireball curling in the distance and heading back at the monster’s back!
The decision was made at the last moment, in an instant when he saw that this was his chance to not only support the death of this monster but also earn a small chunk of exp out of it.
It wouldn’t be a kill steal, he was too weak to attempt that... but support?
"Reverse senses." He said out loud, intentionally attracting the monster’s attention to himself for a split second as he felt his senses dull out and his body go numb.
The woman also looked at him with mild surprise, humming when she felt his mana affect the monster and raise its sensitivity to a much higher degree.
Already distracted, the mimic had no chance of dodging the fireball a second time, especially when it was coming at him from a blind spot.
Heat came before the impact, his skin feeling like it would melt apart just from the radiating warmth. He knew he shouldn’t be feeling this much heat from just a side effect of the attack, but his body refused to agree.
Each and every pain receptor in his body tingled wildly the closer the fireball came... And when it hit, he screamed.
A guttural, unfiltered shriek of pain tore out of the mimic’s body when the fire wrapped around him.
His knees buckled and he began to writhe in pain, falling to the ground as his human-like skin melted apart, revealing a black-skinned, scaly monster hiding within.
By appearance, the monster seemed to have a high fire resistance, but this was no ordinary fire. It was the fire of the greatest fire mage on the northern continent.
The greatest fire mage among humans.
And with the addition of enhanced pain receptors?
The mimic stood no chance, his scales getting charred and shrinking under the heat as he slammed his hands onto the ground, cracking it apart but getting no relief from the flames.
"Not a bad spell." The red-headed woman glanced at the mimic with a side glance before turning to Aaron, humming in amusement.
His teammates and especially the Sanguini guild members were still too scared to open their mouths, to speak even when they saw the mimic getting burned alive in front of their eyes.
They feared that even in this state he would get up and drag them down into hell with him.
But not Aaron, he had already spoken once so what was the point of fearing more?
"Thank you, Miss..." he trailed off, indirectly asking for her name.
Her lips curled up. "You can call me Scarlet," and then after a short pause, she smirked, "And miss?"
Aaron blinked, not understanding the meaning behind her tease.
"She means what makes you call her ’miss’?" Claire said, her forehead slightly sweaty, both from the heat and the guilt.
"Uhm... Are you not?" He murmured awkwardly.
"Maybe." Scarlet waved her hand dismissively. "Good job surviving the mimic, sadly all the valuables his body could offer were burned up... hah... I should stop killing them in one shot like this." She said, more to herself than anyone in particular.
Everyone’s eyes turned toward the mimic, who was still twitching on the floor, his scales completely shriveled up and leaking blood-like black liquid, causing the nearby grass to die.
No one dared to say anything about the materials to Scarlet, knowing that the only reason they were alive was due to her timely assistance.
"Lady Scarlet, I-I am a huge fan of you..." Jaq ignored the dying mimic, staring at Scarlet with stars twinkling in her eyes, appearing like a teenage fangirl who just had the pleasure of meeting her idol.
"That so?" Scarlet merely gave her a glance and nodded. "Appreciate it."
Then without any further fanfare, she raised a finger toward the air, shooting out a flaming red bolt of fire, resembling a signaling flare bullet.
The helicopter heeded her signal, swirling in the air and slowly lowering itself toward the stadium.
Her black robe fluttered in the wind, revealing a curvy and toned body hidden underneath her garments, her face impassive but with a tinge of playful boredom.
Like nothing managed to excite her anymore, and she was just a normal human wandering and trying to find amusement in random things.
The helicopter lowered itself very close to the floor, hanging overhead and not bothering to land on the grassy flooring as Scarlet glanced back at the charred corpse of the mimic.
"Consider it a gift for assisting in its death." She said with an amused smirk, looking at Aaron before slamming her foot down and jumping directly into the helicopter.
The gate closed behind her before the spotlight was turned off, leaving the group in only the light of their torches and the faint glowing residue of the burning corpse.
Silence took over the group, only accompanied by the sound of the motor as the helicopter rose into the sky and tilted in the direction of the UHRA building.
"W-We are alive." Katie managed to stutter out, her legs trembling slightly. "All of us..."
Lia gently rubbed Katie’s back, patting her and whispering that everything was alright.
Jaq seemed to be staring at the disappearing helicopter, her eyes shining in delight. It was needless to worry about her when she was busy getting happy about meeting her idol.
And finally...
Eva turned to Aaron and dashed toward him, throwing herself at him as she wrapped her arms around his body with an unusual amount of need.
"Huh?" Claire blinked.
