Chapter 84: Transparency

Aaron typed in the passcode for his apartment, walking in to find Claire leaning against the wall, a herbal cigarette burning in her hand.

She seemed to be lost in her thoughts, dressed in a cozy crop top and long woolen pants.

Hearing the sound of the door, her attention was instantly pulled.

"Studying was quite long." she said calmly.

Aaron paused, looking at her with a smile, "Not really, I need to tell you something."

Claire blinked in surprise, nodding as she exhaled a cloud of smoke, "Come in."

Walking in, Aaron took deep breaths, calming his nerves as he swept Claire up in his arms, walking into the bedroom and sitting on the bed.

Allowing herself to be taken away, Claire hugged her arm around his neck and sat in his lap gently as he laid on the bed.

"I told you that I am going to study with Nancy, right?" Aaron asked, stroking Claire’s waist.

"Yes." She nodded.

"So on the way, she told me about the controlled training centres." he began.

Claire oh’ed softly, not offering any more responses as she wordlessly cued him to continue.

"I managed to level up to 10 there, fought a level 15 hobgoblin, heh." he added with a slight smirk, "And got a new skill."

"Which?" Claire raised her eyebrows.

"It’s called pleasure leech. Heard of it?"

Hearing his question, Claire’s expression dipped lower, a subtle change in the temperature as she hummed, "Yes. The brothel skill, huh? Why would you need it?"

"It’s a growth type skill, scaling based on magic." Aaron said calmly, his hand still massaging the soft skin of her waist, "It’s perfect for me, allowing me to gain exp and stat points easily."

She pressed her head on his chest, "It’s a good skill, but it is only good when there are more than one partners for you. Is that what you want? Making the relationship open or something?"

Aaron was momentarily stunned, not expecting her to actually suggest such a thing out of her own volition.

He had imagined many scenarios how this talk would go, but not this.

Of course, he knew that Claire was simply being emotional, not meaning what she said.

"No." he shook his head, "Open relationship is the last thing I would want, though you are indeed right. This skill is best when there are more than one partners for me,"

"And?"

"Can I have more than one partner then?" he asked with a neutral voice, trying his best not to get nervous or show how worried he was.

"What sort of a question is that, Aaron?" Claire raised her head, looking into his eyes with a fake smile.

And her expression with flat, blank eyes and a fake smile made Aaron even more unnerved than he would’ve been if she reacted more explosively.

He caught his tongue, looking at her silently, thinking what he could say.

"I love you." He said first, making Claire’s cold eyes soften, only slightly, "And the question was as I asked, Clay."

This was the first time he used her official nickname, and it simply rolled out of his tongue smoothly.

Claire shuffled on his lap, turning around to face him as she sat on his stomach, her hand pressed on his chest and eyes focused onto his.

She trailed a finger on his jaw, "Where did you get that idea from?" she whispered.

And before he could answer, she flashed another fake smile, explaining the question in more detail.

"I am asking, who gave you the idea to have more than one partner? Is it because you are already in love with another woman? Are you unsatisfied with me?"

Aaron sat up slightly, making Claire slide a little lower on his lap as she settled on his thighs.

"I am not unsat–"

"Aaron," Claire cut in, smiling, "I didn’t ask that question out of pity. I am not insecure about it. I am genuinely asking, is that the case?"

"No." Aaron shook his head, "It’s not. I am definitely not unsatisfied with you, and I love you. But a harem has been a fantasy of mine, it’s something I wanted for a long, long time."

"Harem?" She blinked, confused.

"Means more than one loving partner, who will love me the most."

Claire scoffed, "So your fantasy is having a group of women, all of whom love you and only you, while you are in a relationship with more than one girl?"

"You can say that." Aaron scratched his head, "It sounds douchey when I say it, but yes, it is."

"There is a reason fantasies are called that. A fantasy." Claire chuckled.

Hearing her words, Aaron smiled wryly, his mind drifting off to his life on Earth as the memories of the past came rushing over.

’For me all of this was a fantasy too. They can indeed be achieved.’

Aaron shook off the thoughts, replying, "Indeed that may be the case, but you know, I noticed that you were going in circles, asking me questions without actually telling me what you think or what you want."

Covering her face, Claire giggled, her blue eyes narrowing as a wide, sadistic smile appeared on her sweet lips.

Her hand slid up his chest, going behind his neck as she gripped his hair, pulling him closer to herself.

"Isn’t that obvious?" she whispered, pressing herself over him as he fell back onto the mattress, hovering over him.

Aaron’s eyes widened in surprise, his blood flow became inverted and went rushing into his manhood, causing it to twitch under Claire’s ass.

And of course, she felt it instantly, making her smirk even wider.

"Aaron," she looked into his eyes, "Do you think I am a fool that I cannot understand how weird and shifty you used to act?" she sighed, "It has changed slightly in recent times, but the lies still remain."

"Yes, I know. And I hate lies. That’s why I want us to be transparent." Aaron replied, "You are the only one I told about the magic stat, I trust you, Clay."

He knew what effects those words could have, but he didn’t just say them for the sake of it, or to emotionally blackmail her.

He meant what he said.

And in response, warmth vanished from Claire’s eyes.

The distance between them was negligible, he could feel her breasts pressing on his chest, and yet... she felt far. Farther than ever before.

Closing her eyes, she took a deep, long breath.

"Transparency, you say?" she whispered, "Then why don’t you tell me what brought this sudden change in you... Aaron? What changed you one week and 3 days ago?"
