Chapter 715: *I have a bad feeling guys*

As the battle between Ian and Roman resumed amidst the cheers of a crowd delighted by this outcome, Elias finally received news from his reconnaissance team, which was quite good.

Malo, Glen, and Lanis had come across other battlefields near the large cities of this world, and all those battles seemed to have recently ended.

The large cities had been well protected, as there was very little material damage, and they had not yet come across any Drakonit with a corrupted soul. In fact, there were very few Drakonits in the streets, and the few they encountered were guards, who spoke only of the fight that was supposed to take place in the Capital at that very moment.

Elias then smiled, satisfied that Roman took this threat very seriously. He had not left the large cities unprotected in case their world faced another attack, which was a wise decision.

His men confirmed to him that security around the large cities seemed to be reinforced, and the villages surrounding the large cities were deserted.

Tarik, who could follow their conversation, then said, "I encountered an elite patrol, and apparently, all the Drakonits living in the villages were evacuated in time to the shelters in the Capital designed for this purpose."

He added, "They seemed very proud of their victory, and for them, there was no doubt that Lilith was behind this attack, even if apparently, she did not participate in it."

Kelan, with whom Elias shared his conversation with his reconnaissance team, then said, "The timing of our attack on the Angel world probably saved one of the Drakonits. Not only did Lilith come in person over there, but she also sent Ulyss and Roman, her two most powerful soldiers."

He added, "Moreover, to urgently evacuate those training centers, she must have needed manpower, and as she was surely aware that the Drakonit world was one of our priorities, she likely chose to save those Knights of Darkness or the future ones instead of eliminating the threat posed by the Drakonits."

Elias nodded slightly and said to his men, "Correct! Fortunately, the Drakonits’ defenses held!"

He then ordered, "Continue checking every nook and cranny of this world, and Tarik, when you reach the ruins of Lilith’s former headquarters, be extremely attentive and especially cautious."

"Don’t worry, brother, I will be careful!" said Tarik immediately, and Elias finally said, "Glen, Malo, join us as soon as you finish. Lanis, join Tarik as quickly as possible once you are done; use the prison dimension to meet up. I have a bad feeling, guys."

Once he received an affirmative response from his men, he refocused on the battle—and what a battle it was!

Although both had agreed not to use their elements to fight, Ian, now that Liam’s Divine energy was flowing through his body, was much stronger than during their first battle.

This slightly destabilized Roman, who apparently hadn’t expected it. However, Roman’s combat experience still gave him an advantage compared to Ian’s inexperience. Even though Ian had participated in many challenging battles lately, Roman was a leader, born to fight, while Ian was simply applying what he had just learned and following the advice or orders given to him in the battles!

However, if he had truly wanted to, he might have been able to defeat Roman, who must have realized that Ian, far from being an ordinary Drakonit, had his Mage side much more developed than the rest of them.

But Ian had chosen not to use his Mage powers, probably too afraid of creating another disaster like the training dimension, which was now unusable because it was completely ravaged by black particles since Nolan’s attack.

As the fighting intensified, the cheers from the crowd grew louder. They moved so quickly that sometimes only the flashes of light caused by their clashing weapons were visible.

Occasionally, one of the two would crash to the ground, creating a small crater where the impact had occurred, but they would almost immediately get back up and continue fighting with their weapons.

They fought both in the air and on the ground, and sometimes they used their tails to escape bad situations or to create an opening with a sneak attack.

Phil, Blaise, and the other Drakonits who had come with them were in total awe of Ian’s prowess, and Elias agreed with them.

Ian might still be far from equaling someone like Roman when considering only their qualities as warriors, but he was undeniably one of those from this new generation who brought the hope of a better future.

He was the only hybrid he knew of, but he had used this difference to evolve into a Divine creature, and this difference hadn’t prevented him from making loyal friends and finding love among a race other than his own.

Ian and Liam’s child promised to be exceptional, and just for this future generation, of which his own children would be a part, he could not afford to lose this war.

Suddenly, Elias’s instinct, which told him that something bad was brewing, kicked in and made him look at the only Knight of Darkness present here. He saw him frown and glance furtively in a specific direction.

Kelan then said to him, using the telepathic link he shared with him since he had been accepted by the Warrior Spirits, "Tell Tarik to be very careful; this Knight of Darkness seems to have spotted him!"

Elias replied immediately, "Impossible! No one could detect him, not even Lilith?"

He added, surprised, "How did you deduce that this Knight of Darkness had spotted him?"

"Easy!" Kelan replied, "He is the only serious threat here, so of course, I have always kept an eye on him, watching for any change in his behavior."

Kelan then added, "Maybe Tarik triggered some kind of alarm unintentionally by pushing a door or another mechanism?"

Elias, still focused on the fight unfolding before his eyes, said to him, "Let me check where Tarik is first. Perhaps his change in behavior has nothing to do with us!"
