My Magical Girl System-Chapter 44: Mirror Charm Bracelet
The ground trembled violently. Cracks spiderwebbed across the stone floor, and from those cracks, dark mist poured upward. Along the walls, sections of stone began to slide aside—hidden doors grinding open, revealing pitch-black passages beyond.
Andrey’s blood ran cold. "Get ready!"
From the newly opened passages, shapes emerged. Twisted, horned creatures with glowing red eyes—lesser demons, their bodies wreathed in dark mana. They moved with jerky, unnatural grace, claws scraping the stone as they advanced.
Sein raised her gauntlets, crimson flames roaring to life. "I’ll hold the left flank!"
Sarah’s wand blazed pink. "Right flank is mine!"
Andrey planted himself in front of Lisa, who still had her hand pressed against the dark mirror, her face pale with concentration. "I’ll cover the center. No one gets near her."
The first wave of demons charged.
Sein met them head-on. Her fists became blurs of crimson fire, each punch sending a demon flying back into its companions. "Crimson Impact!" A charged explosion erupted from her gauntlet, blasting three demons into ash.
Sarah swept her wand in a wide arc. "Heartstorm Tempest!" A cascade of pink hearts rained down on the right flank, shredding the demonic creatures where they stood. Their shrieks echoed off the walls.
Andrey stood before Lisa, Ki flowing into his palms. A demon lunged at him from the center—he caught its claw with his bare hand, Absorb Damage flaring. The energy of the strike flowed into his chest, stored. He punched the demon with his other hand, Ki-enhanced force cracking its skull. It dissolved.
But more kept coming.
The second wave was larger. The demons moved faster, their attacks more coordinated. Sein took a glancing blow to her shoulder—she grunted, spun, and drove her elbow into the demon’s throat, finishing it with a point-blank flame blast.
Sarah was breathing hard, her wand flickering. "There’s too many!"
Andrey’s mind raced. ’We need to thin them out.’
He reached into his belt and pulled out a small orb—the Mana Flashbang he’d purchased from the shop. He’d been saving it for an emergency.
"Sarah! Sein! Cover your eyes!"
He threw the orb into the thickest cluster of demons.
The flash was blinding—white light erupting in the chamber, searing the darkness. The demons shrieked, clutching their faces, stumbling blindly. The dark mana around them wavered.
"NOW! Hit them while they’re stunned!"
Sein didn’t hesitate. She leaped into the disoriented crowd, her gauntlets blazing brighter than ever. "Crimson Cascade!" A flurry of explosive punches, each one detonating against a demon’s body, sending shockwaves through the horde.
Sarah raised her wand high, channeling the last of her mana. "Heartstorm Tempest—MAX OUTPUT!" A torrent of pink hearts swept across the remaining demons, shredding them into mana dust.
When the light faded, a pile of dissolving demon corpses lay scattered across the chamber floor.
But more were already emerging from the passages.
Andrey’s chest heaved. His Absorb Damage was nearly full, glowing red through his shirt. His Ki reserves were draining fast.
Sein stood with her back to him, blood dripping from a gash on her arm. Her breathing was ragged, but her eyes were still sharp. "They’re not stopping."
Sarah dropped to one knee, her transformation flickering. "I’m almost out of mana... I can’t..."
Andrey saw it happen.
A demon slipped past Sein’s guard. Its claw raked across her side, tearing through her crimson dress. Sein gasped, stumbling. Blood welled from the wound.
"Sein!" Andrey moved without thinking. He interposed himself between her and the demon, taking the next strike on his shoulder. Absorb Damage flared—he was almost at his limit. The stored energy burned inside him like a second heart.
"Get behind me!" he shouted.
Sein’s eyes widened, but she didn’t argue. She ducked behind him, pressing her hand to her bleeding side.
Andrey faced the demon horde alone, his body glowing red with stored damage, his fists crackling with Ki.
’I can take one more hit. Maybe two. Then I’ll have to release everything.’
A demon lunged. He caught it, absorbed it. Another. He dodged, barely.
Then, from behind him, Sein pushed past his guard.
"Idiot! I’m not some damsel!" Her gauntlets blazed—weaker than before, but still burning. She punched the nearest demon, driving it back. "I’ve fought through worse than this!"
She was wounded, bleeding, exhausted—but her experience as an S-rank shone through. Every movement was efficient, precise. She didn’t waste energy. Each strike found a vital point. She was buying them time.
Andrey used that time. He pulled Sarah to her feet, positioning her behind him. "Save your mana for one more shot. Just one."
Sarah nodded weakly, her wand trembling.
Andrey turned back to the demons. They were regrouping—at least a dozen still standing, with more crawling out of the passages.
’We can’t hold much longer.’
As if in answer—
The mirror behind them blazed with light.
Mint-green energy erupted from its surface, pushing back the darkness. The blue flames on the walls flickered, then turned green—then white. A wave of pure, purifying light swept through the chamber.
The demons screamed.
Their bodies convulsed, dark mana peeling away from them like smoke in a strong wind. One by one, they dissolved into clean, harmless particles that floated upward and vanished.
The passages slammed shut. The ground stopped trembling. The oppressive weight in the air lifted.
Andrey turned.
Lisa stood before the mirror, her hand still pressed against its surface. But the glass was no longer dark. It was clear—bright, reflective, showing her own exhausted face. And in her other hand, she held something new.
A bracelet.
It was elegant—silver bands intertwined, with small mirror-like charms dangling from it. Each charm caught the light, sparkling with faint mint-green energy.

The mirror’s surface rippled, then went dark. It simply became an ordinary mirror, its power spent.
Lisa swayed on her feet. Andrey caught her before she could fall, his arms wrapping around her shoulders.
"I did it," she whispered, holding up the bracelet. "I purified it."
Andrey looked at the bracelet, then at Lisa’s pale, exhausted face. "You did. Good work."
Sein limped over, her hand still pressed to her side. Blood seeped between her fingers, but her eyes were fixed on the bracelet. "That’s it? That little thing caused all this?"
Sarah de-transformed, her normal clothes reappearing. She looked drained, but relieved. "Don’t underestimate it. That thing almost killed us."
Andrey helped Lisa to her feet. The bracelet dangled from her fingers, cool and smooth.
"We need to get out of here," he said. "We’re done for today."
Sein grunted. "I’ve had worse paper cuts."
Sarah shot her a look. "You’re bleeding through your fingers."
"It’s superficial."
Andrey didn’t argue. He just started walking toward the far end of the chamber, where a new door had appeared—ordinary wood, with a simple iron handle. He pushed it open.
Sunlight streamed in.
They emerged in a small courtyard behind the industrial zone, hidden from the main road. The gate they had cleared earlier was visible in the distance, its purple vortex gone.
Andrey helped Lisa sit on a low wall. Sarah collapsed beside her. Sein leaned against a crumbling pillar, finally allowing herself to slump.
Andrey pulled out his phone, checking for Association alerts. Nothing urgent. He sent a quick message to the van driver, updating their location.
Then he looked at the bracelet still clutched in Lisa’s hand.
"What now?" Sarah asked, following his gaze.
Andrey adjusted his glasses. "Now we keep it safe. The system said these artifacts need to be collected and purified. We have one. Eleven more to go."
Sein let out a bitter laugh. "Eleven more of these death traps? Wonderful."
Lisa turned the bracelet over in her fingers, watching the mirror charms catch the sunlight. "It’s pretty, though."
Sarah snorted. "Pretty? It almost killed us."
"But it didn’t." Lisa looked up, a small smile on her tired face. "We won."
Andrey allowed himself a small nod. "Yeah, We won. Now let’s go home before something else explodes."
The van arrived ten minutes later. They climbed in—Sarah immediately falling asleep against the window, Lisa leaning her head on Andrey’s shoulder, Sein sitting apart, staring out at the passing city with a blank expression.
The bracelet sat in Lisa’s lap, its mirror charms winking in the afternoon light.
Andrey closed his eyes and let the hum of the van carry him toward rest.
