My Mysterious Hidden Husband-Chapter 472: Poaching
Shawn Rhodes saw them, and when Simon Rhodes’ car stopped, Shawn walked across the street towards them.
Simon Rhodes got out of the car, and when he saw Shawn, the two were no longer as hostile as before.
Regarding the matter with Susan Wilde, the two had reached a consensus, and their relationship had eased a lot because of her.
Shawn glanced at Susan Wilde’s slightly swollen belly and asked, "Are you here for a check-up?"
Simon Rhodes looked down at Susan Wilde, gently pulled her into his embrace, and softly said, "Yes."
He didn’t mention Shane Royale’s illness but instead asked, "And you?"
Shawn looked at his sleeping son in his arms and smiled somewhat bitterly, "Little Ray caught a cold, so I brought him to the hospital for a check-up."
Everyone was a bit curious why he came to the hospital with the child alone, but no one asked.
Simon Rhodes opened the car door, letting Susan Wilde enter the heated car first, worried she might catch a cold, then asked Shawn, "Do you need a ride?"
Shawn shook his head with a smile, "No, my car is parked over there, I’ll head off now."
Simon Rhodes nodded and didn’t say much more.
Landon Sutton’s car arrived, and Shannon Quinn ducked inside, following Simon Rhodes’ car away from the hospital.
That night, the rain mixed with snow fell constantly, and Shannon Quinn closed the venting window in the bedroom.
Landon Sutton finished his work and pushed the door from the study to enter, looking at her and asking, "Why aren’t you asleep yet?"
"Waiting for you."
"I used to see you sleeping quite soundly alone, is something on your mind?"
Shannon Quinn just walked over to hug him, burying her face into his embrace without speaking.
Landon Sutton’s fingers combed through her soft hair, not pressing her about what was wrong.
Ever since she became pregnant, she seemed much more sentimental than before.
Maybe nothing was really wrong, just inexplicable emotions had turned gloomy, if you asked her to explain she probably couldn’t figure it out herself.
He didn’t know if she was like this when she was expecting Leo, nor did he know how she coped without him being there.
Or perhaps her current emotions were due to the gap between the past and present, causing her feelings to be uneven.
He couldn’t turn back time, all he could do was make up for the present and future.
"Go take a shower, I’ll check on Leo." After holding each other for a few seconds, she lifted her head from his embrace and said.
Landon Sutton looked at her with a smile, "Let’s go together."
Gently pushing open the child’s bedroom door, the moonlight outside illuminated the sleeping child on the bed.
Neither of them stepped into the room to disturb, they just stood by the door for a while before Shannon Quinn gently closed the door.
Her eyes drifted as if recalling something, she smiled faintly and said to him, "Leo has been a well-behaved and sensible child since young, he didn’t cry much at night, only when hungry, and once we prepared the milk formula he would quiet down, he hardly gave me any trouble."
Landon Sutton always felt guilty whenever she spoke of the time he wasn’t there with her and their son.
This time, however, he only teased, "That’s because he knew I wasn’t there."
Shannon Quinn took Landon Sutton’s hand, recounting the past while walking back to the bedroom, "Once when he was over a year old, he got a fever late at night and I panicked, had to call Mr. Hughes in the middle of the night, and he came over right away without a word to help."
In the first half, Landon Sutton felt quite guilty until Shannon Quinn mentioned Liam Sterling, and his expression changed instantly, "Why did he come over without a word? Isn’t it because he wanted to steal someone’s wife?"
Shannon Quinn gave him a sideways glance, "Look at you being so petty, Mr. Hughes is married to a girl from abroad, they’re having a mixed-race baby soon. I think after the New Year’s when the baby is born, we should find time to visit them, you should thank him properly, Leo and I troubled him a lot."
Landon Sutton said grumpily, "Oh, you were pondering about this all night?"
"I just suddenly thought of it," Shannon Quinn picked up the pajamas she had long prepared for him by the bedside and handed them to him, "Go take a shower."
Landon Sutton was mumbling as he walked to the bathroom with the pajamas, "He only found a foreign girl after realizing he couldn’t chase you."
Shannon Quinn couldn’t be bothered to argue with him, she lifted the quilt and snuggled in, leaning against the headboard while flipping through a fashion magazine on the nightstand.
When Landon Sutton came out after his shower, he found Shannon Quinn already asleep.
He paused his hair-drying, moved quietly across the room, turned off the main light, gently extracted the magazine from her hand, folded the page she was on, and placed it on the bedside table, then tucked her in.
Fearing the sound of the hairdryer would disturb her sleep, Landon Sutton took it out to the living room to finish drying his hair.
The snow got heavier at night, turning the outside into a blanket of white.
Landon Sutton opened the balcony door, bringing the potted plants she had put out during sunny days back inside.
Returning to the bedroom, he snuggled into the warm bed, pulling her into his embrace, anticipating her excitement upon seeing the snow outside the next morning.
The next day, they were still in a slumber when the door knocking awoke them.
"Mom and Dad, it’s snowing outside! Come and see!"
Landon Sutton frowned, quickly put on his slippers, went to the door, and looked down at his son standing by the door delivering the ’good news,’ quietly saying, "Your mom is still asleep, don’t make noise."
Leo nodded and peeked into the room, then looked up at Landon Sutton and asked, "Dad, will you come out and play with me?"
Landon Sutton, without a second thought, said, "Go by yourself, just play in the yard."
Leo invited again, "Let’s go make a snowman together."
Landon Sutton hesitated a bit, then closed the bedroom door behind him and said to Leo, "Go change clothes first, wear something warm."
Leo immediately ran back to his room, exceptionally happy.
Typically, Landon Sutton might have refused such an invitation from his son, telling him to go play by himself.
But recalling what Shannon Quinn said last night, realizing indeed he hadn’t spent enough time with his son, and seeing his son’s hopeful eyes, he couldn’t bear to refuse.
He quickly freshened up, took out the long down coat Shannon Quinn had bought for him but he had never worn.
Looking at the snowy scene outside, he silently took a scarf from the wardrobe to wrap around himself.
When he saw Leo again, the kid was bundled up just as thickly as he was and asked, "Dad, have you seen my gloves?"
"What gloves?"
"The ones Grandma bought me for school."
Landon Sutton had no memory of such things, ask him about math problems he could answer fluently, but gloves or socks he had no clue, so he said, "What are gloves for? I don’t wear them, don’t be like a little girl."
