My Notoriety Spreads Throughout the World-Chapter 445 - 382: Wait and See
Upon detecting hostility from Arian, Xu Xiaoyou immediately reacted by using up her remaining cards: [Superstate Vision], [Sensory Enhancement], and [Dynamic Perception].
Her amber eyes lit up, and the world suddenly became clear. The view was split a thousandfold, allowing her to see clearly even the finest details, such as dewdrops falling, insects flying through the air, and the swaying paths of wild grass.
In that millisecond, Xu Xiaoyou poured her Spiritual Power into her perception, searching every corner of her sight where an opponent might be lurking.
Yet, the Gloomy Blue Tide still instantly escaped her perception.
Her brain reached its limit, every brain cell screaming out of control.
As Xu Xiaoyou regained her senses, just as she was gasping for breath, someone from behind had already wrapped an arm around her waist, warm breath lingering by her neck.
Xu Xiaoyou heard a barely audible snort, clicked her tongue in annoyance, and, with her unoccupied right hand, grabbed a long whip, swinging it upward, only for her wrist to be easily pinned by the person behind, confined in their embrace.
Arian hugged her from behind, cheerfully resting her chin on her shoulder. Xu Xiaoyou had no choice but to tilt her head slightly, held firmly in an awkward position.
"You..."
"I advise you not to move; everyone is watching, and it would be embarrassing."
Arian's enticing tone echoed in her ears. Noticing the guild members' gaze from not far away, Xu Xiaoyou's heart slowly froze over in a layer of ice, ceasing her resistance, maintaining a calm tone.
"What do you want to do?"
"Is it fun using me?" Arian asked.
Xu Xiaoyou responded with silence. She could feel the other person's hand restlessly moving from her wrist, like a cold serpent, pressing her palm and forcing her to release the whip.
Arian chuckled softly: "Fools trying to use me are innumerable. They all thought I was an incurable madwoman, so they all died, understand?"
"People outside wonder how Miss Dark Gold Rose managed to reach the Three Tier level in such a short time.
Hearing the woman's words, Xu Xiaoyou faintly sensed trouble.
As if savoring her slightly uneasy demeanor, Arian intentionally paused before continuing.
"The analysts propose numerous possibilities, supported by arguments. Indeed, by continuously following predetermined routes, clearing dungeons, completing bounty tasks, and slaying elite creatures, one can upgrade in such a short time."
"But they all overlooked one point."
"The more powerful a person becomes, the greater the gap between the body in the immersion chamber and the in-game body, making it harder to overcome the influence of the Sea of Consciousness shift."
"Whether it's me, Xiaobai, or even the Cyan Sage Li Cangxuan, none can overcome the Sea of Consciousness shift with their vast Sea of Consciousness. I'm very curious, Miss Dark Gold Rose, how did you manage to ignore all obstacles and accomplish that impossible task?"
Xu Xiaoyou's heart gradually calmed down, a demeanor Arian noticed fully.
"There is an artifact in the game, called the "Superdimensional Projector," which can project a person's real state into the Oasis unchanged."
"I know all your secrets," Arian whispered in Xu Xiaoyou's ear, "Do you need me to disclose more information?"
Seeing the blonde girl not responding, Arian appeared slightly disappointed, yet she wasn't disheartened, her tone rising.
"Miss Dark Gold Rose's mysterious methods."
"Truly captivating, so captivating."
"I find myself growing more curious about you."
"The guild's attitude is peculiar, clearly suspicious in many places, yet they granted you the name of the Light Prism Tier."
"And you dared to use such a small gamble to pry open the world's lever, convincing countless people – fascinating."
"Those bizarre methods you display, how exactly do you do it?"
"I've decided, until I uncover everything about you..."
"Are you going to kill me now?" Xu Xiaoyou asked, closing her eyes.
"Huh?" Arian was stunned.
"Of course, I wouldn't just..."
"Then let me go."
Arian instinctively released her hold.
Xu Xiaoyou easily broke free from her embrace, not looking back as she walked towards her guild members, starting to arrange the next plans.
"Everything I have was gained at a heavy price."
"That's all there is to it."
Arian watched Xu Xiaoyou leave, the girl's last words echoing in her ears, as if the latter had merely ignored all she had said.
"Really, I'm growing more and more curious about you."
Arian understood then.
This person, had actually considered her as a piece, placed on the precarious end of a teetering lever.
"What will be your end?"
"I'll be watching."
...
Outside the Oasis, in the Wastelands.
Unstable firelight illuminated the cave, lighting up Sevia's dusty face. Her usually bright eyes slightly dim, the girl shook off the dust from her body while walking into the cave.
Raising the oil lamp in her hand, finding the corner empty, Sevia intended to turn around, yet someone tried to choke her from behind.
"How is this possible?"
The gentle flow of water in the air forcibly pried open the robust arm. The lady soldier never managed to truly touch the girl, instead being easily restrained by the girl with water flow, unable to move.
"Is this how you treat your savior?"
For some reason, Sevia's tone betrayed a hint of annoyance.
With a gentle wave of her hand, the lady soldier flew backward, crashing into the wall. If not for the water's protection, the impact might have shattered her bones.
"I am stronger than you think, this is just a warning, don't try to struggle again." Sevia said domineeringly.
"Cough, cough... cough..."
The lady soldier trembled all over from the impact, the settled dust causing her to cough incessantly. The bronze snake dagger hidden behind her was yet to be drawn, sliced into ten evenly sized parts by an invisible water blade.
As soon as she looked up, the sharp water blade was already against her throat. Sevia slowly walked to her, placing the lamp on the stone pedestal, then sat down, legs together and slightly bent, picking up a stone scoop on the ground, bowed down grinding.
"Put down the knife." She said. "Please don't make me repeat myself."
More like a command than a request.
The water blade pressed closer, leaving a shallow cut on her throat. Seeing the girl seemed serious, the lady soldier hurriedly surrendered. Only then did Sevia's stern expression soften, retracting the water blade.
"Used to being wary, and feel uneasy without a weapon in hand, sorry."
The lady soldier leaned her head against the wall in relief, while Sevia moved forward, fingers picking up the paste-like herbs from the stone scoop, applying it on her festering wounds. The cold yet burning pain made her wince and hiss.
"Don't move." Sevia frowned.
"You seem in a bad mood." The lady soldier chuckled bitterly, adjusting her posture as little as possible. "What happened?"
Sevia's hand paused in applying the ointment and she turned her head away sulkily.
"It's nothing, just the goodwill, taken away by rats."
