My OP Minion System in the Apocalypse-Chapter 76 Fortify The Settlement

A few minutes later, I heard the sound of Chloe slowly picking herself up.

"Ah, you're already awake, William?"

"Yeah, only for a little while though."

She shook her head and fixed her hair.

"I'll go fortify the walls now."

"Alright."

She made her way outside, still somewhat lethargic after just waking up.

I was going to make some [wide stone pedestals] which cost 100 rocks each. From what I could see, they were large enough to fit around ten Archer Scout Minions on top, if I wanted them to still be able to see everything. This meant that I'd need to build two or three for the time being.

They weren't all that difficult to construct, as all I needed was some rocks and a few Builder Minions. I decided to also make my way outside and look around to see the best places to put them.

I wanted to spread them out a little bit so I put one near the entrance, and one on each of the corners opposite the entrance, in a triangle of sorts. That was the best placement that I could come up with. After that, I decided to get my Minions to stand on them to see if they were useful. I called a few of my Archer Scout Minions and had them stand on the [wide stone pedestals]. It took a little while for them to all get into position but after that, it appeared that they had much more range and vision than before.

That was all well and good from what I could see.

It was still quite cold outside, so I decided to head back into the hut after finishing up the pedestals. Inside, I saw Chloe hovering beside the fire.

"I've done half of one side."

"Good job, that was pretty quick."

The walls did get a little damaged overnight but my Builder Minions managed to repair them so they were basically as good as new in the morning. With Chloe's fortifications, I hoped that the walls would be able to sustain much more damage.

I was still worried about the fact that zombies were going to get stronger. Generally, the zombies tended to get stronger night by night anyways. If there was a specific notification about it, that meant that there was likely going to be a big jump in difficulty. Even as I built these structures, there still was only so much that I could do at this time.

I still needed to find a way to move around this place. Killer Winter had significantly damaged my mobility, basically isolating us within this settlement, within this hut for the most part. Aside from clothing, the only other method I could think of was the warm the environment up. However, even with several fires, I doubt that it'd be enough to make any significant difference to the temperature.

Ugh... I was stuck.

I had another look on the Grand Exchange for any clothing I could find.

<Grand Exchange>

Search: related [clothing] , Order: top

1. [x1] thick snow gear - Cost: 259 Tokens - Seller [Noah Gait]

2. [x2] wool sweater - Cost 122 Tokens - Seller [Elanor Richards]

3. [x1] puffer jacket - Cost 90 Tokens - Seller [John Guju]

4. [x1] Snow jacket - Cost 76 Tokens - Seller [Kandice Pomer]

5. [x5] white hoodie - Cost 42 Tokens [Canto Hendri]

There were many changes compared to the last time I checked. The only new item was a [snow jakcet] that was being sold for 76 Tokens. It was still an incredibly high price and something that I wouldn't be able to purchase at the moment.

If only I had some way to make my own clothes...

As much as I tried to look, it seemed as if I just didn't have anything clothing related in my crafting menu. I guess different systems also had different crafting menus with different recipes.

Chloe went back outside to continue fortifying the walls.

I decided to stay inside and wait until I figured out some way to get more stuff done.

A few hours later, several of my Scout Minions had finished their differentiation.

First of all, I needed to reorganise the 31 new combat Scout Minions I had. I had plenty of archers at this point and I assumed that the mage Scout Minions would be able to do some sort of area-of-effect attacks. I decided to make 5 swordplay and 5 archer Scout Minions, before putting the rest into magic.

Now, my specialised mage Scout Minions could go on to further learning.

I looked at the fire magic Scout Minions first.

- [Flamethrower]

- [Residential Heater]

- [Projectile Controller]

Hold on... I might have just gotten an idea.

Instead of setting up fires all around the camp to warm it up, if I could get these Scout Minions with fire magic to constantly produce heat, that would be easier and much more effective. I wasn't exactly sure what each different specialisation did, but [Residential Heater] sounded oddly yet conveniently relevant.

I decided to get both of my Scout Minions who had fire magic to learn this next stage.

I also looked through each of the other different magic specialisations for the other elements.

Next was water. 𝑓𝘳ℯ𝒆w𝘦𝘣𝙣𝘰ѵ𝘦𝚕.c𝗼𝓶

There were quite a few options and most of which I couldn't really deduce the abilities of. I decided to spread out my specialisations.
