My Perfect Revenge: Flash Marriage With My Vampire Tycoon-Chapter 158: - He Danced With Me a Lot -
A soft breath fled Loredana’s mouth and she approached her. "Child, get up. You might just turn to a ghost at this point," she joked, wanting to ease the grayness in the atmosphere.
But Viviana made no sound.
Loredana had no choice but to pull the duvet off her. She grabbed her carefully, lifting her off the bed. "You have to eat. Come. You don’t even have to feed yourself. I’ll do it, hm?"
"I want to sleep," Viviana mumbled.
"No." Loredana shook her head. "You have slept enough. You need to eat."
"I’m not hungry."
"Yes you are. Please, just come with me. No matter how little. That’s more than enough."
She finally managed to make her move and carefully, she walked her to the dining room where the smell of food was all over the place.
Viviana however had no appetite. Still, she sat down and Loredana waited for her to eat, but she wouldn’t.
She picked up the spoon, and put it in her grip. Still, Viviana wouldn’t move at all. She was seated motionless, staring.
Loredana let out a soft sigh. She scooped up a full spoon and tried to feed herself. But Viviana wouldn’t open her mouth.
Loredana’s face fell in sadness for her. She reached over, tucking her wet hair behind her ear. "You’ll catch a cold like this. Stay here."
She left and by the time she came back, Viviana had already left the seat. "Where did she go?" Panic whirled inside of her and she quickly rushed out of the dining toward the living room where she found her standing by the floor length glass window, gazing outside at the busy streets.
"Viviana..."
"It’s not fair..." Viviana muttered.
Loredana wasn’t sure what she meant.
"Why do some of us suffer so much? It isn’t fair." Her shoulders slumped. "All my life, all I’ve been doing is suffering. Why did I deserve it? I have no idea. What did I do wrong? I have no clue? It was just..." A soft lifeless chuckle fled her mouth. "Marrying him was just a stupid action I took on a whim. I had only just met him but I made him marry him. Why? Maybe it was because it was because he made me happy on the very first night we met. He put a smile on my face and I clung to it with everything I had."
"My life has been black and white really. I haven’t really felt happy since I was a teenager or even at this point. But he made me happy. Even if everything else in my life was a mess, he brought some sort of salvation into my life. I had really thought at some point that maybe I thought I loved him because he’d seemed to be the only thing that could make me happy. But that wasn’t true. When I left, I missed him. It felt so miserable being without him. I wanted to be near him at every cost. I realized... I really wanted to be with this man. So what if he wasn’t human? It doesn’t matter. He loved me and I loved him, that was all that made sense to me and I would hold on to it for dear life."
A bitter smile formed on her face. "I was happy. We were happy. That day... I didn’t know it was the last time I would get to hear his voice, have him sleep next to me. Hear his laughter or the smile that he gives only to me. If I had no, I would have stayed back when he begged me to. But this hates me. I will never be happy."
"No, don’t say that." Loredana quickly grabbed her, spinning her on her feet. "Don’t say that. You will be happy, alright? This, this is just a little case that will be over soon, you just have to hold on. Do you understand me? Nikolas wouldn’t want you being this way."
Viviana breathed out. "I feel empty. I feel so empty I wish I had died. It would have been better than this pathetic—"
Loredana pulled her in. She hugged her tightly, burying her face in her shoulder, while her fingers caressed her hair. "Don’t ever say that again."
She felt so hurt, because looking at Viviana, she saw herself in her. She’d once been in this state and more than anyone, she understood her the best. "He will come back to you. Nikolas will come back."
But it was clear Viviana didn’t cling onto that hope. All her life, hadn’t she clung to hope? Time and time again, she ends up crushed.
"Come." She walked her away from the living room, back to the bedroom where she proceeded to help her into the bed. "You wanted to rest, didn’t you? You don’t have an appetite, I won’t force you to eat. But I hope that after this little rest, you’d be willing to have a glass of milk."
Viviana didn’t object. She’d expected she would leave after she drank it, but Loredana instead got into the bed next to her and they both laid, staring at the ceiling.
"You know, when my husband was still alive, he danced with me a lot."
She chuckled when she felt Viviana’s gaze on her. "So so long ago. It was so back in the day. We’d go to parties and he danced a lot with me. My husband was a very jealous man. I can’t count how many times he had begun a fight because a man tried to court me." She laughed softly. "I hadn’t cherished how much he loved dancing with me then. And when he died... I uh... I had no one to dance with anymore. I felt so alone, I missed him. To me, my world had ended. I had thought at one point, I’d be better off dead. But I had two boys."
She turned her head. "Lucian and Nikolas. They were little then. About thirteen, and you’d have to understand for us vampires, time passed so much slower than it did for humans and at some point, it freezes, that is when we stop aging. Nikolas is forever going to be a young man, just like this, until he dies somehow, and i’m sure you know that. Mentally and physically, that is why he can be quite reckless. So back then, they were like... new born babies. They knew nothing. They couldn’t take care of themselves. If I left, who’d take care of them? I swallowed my own pain for them. I couldn’t abandon them."
"When the world moved and kept changing, Lucian and I followed along. Nikolas though, not really. He was in a deep sleep all throughout and had only woken up twenty five years ago. That is why even if they are twins, Lucian sees him as a little brother." She cackled. "But he adapted fast. And he built himself into what he is now. When I look at him sometimes, I think... he’s an incredible man. They both are. Lucian is a great father to his daughter. And Nikolas, he’s been a great man to the woman he loved. So, I’m happy even at this point. My two sons turned out great like I’d always wanted."
Viviana wasn’t sure why she was telling her this. But listening to her soft spoken words, her lashes flickered and she found herself drifting into another sleep.
